Sweet Spring Door Hanger Paint Night

Celebrate the season with a creative paint night at Meldrums focused on crafting a fresh spring door hanger. Choose a design such as an umbrella, birdhouse, flowers, lemonade, ice cream, or a popsicle, and include your selection when reserving seats. Registration requires a nonrefundable 20 dollar per person deposit to cover the advance work of cutting and sanding each wood piece. The class fee is 50 dollars and includes your handcrafted wood door hanger, all paints and supplies, and guided instruction throughout. Each door hanger is individually cut and hand sanded, measuring approximately 16 by 24 inches and one quarter inch thick. Every piece is an original design handmade by Melissa Stark of Stark Art. Payment totals 50 dollars, with the 20 dollar deposit due at registration and the remaining 30 dollars in cash collected before painting begins. A-MAZE-ing Rat: Level 1

A-MAZE-ing Rat offers a playful training game that builds your dog’s puzzle-solving skills and puts their nose to work. This four-week Level 1 class helps teams learn the criteria for success and teaches dogs to work more independently away from their handler. No vermin-hunting experience is required. In Level 1, each dog has two minutes to navigate the maze and reach the end to find the rat. Handlers remain in the start box until the dog has entered the maze with all four paws, then may call and guide from outside. One fault is allowed. Spring Bird Walk

Head to the Nickel Plate Trail for a morning bird walk suited to beginners and experienced birders alike. Expect an easy outing on a level, paved path, and bring binoculars to make the most of the sightings. Meet at the trailhead. Group size is limited due to parking. DDPY classes at Peace Lutheran Church are available at no charge. Plan to bring a mat along with water and a towel, and dress in comfortable clothing suitable for movement. Donations are welcome but entirely optional, and any funds given support Peace Lutheran youth activities and outreach.

Shower the Shelter Babies

Kitten season has arrived, and the shelter is preparing for a wave of newborns who need intensive, 24 hour care. This effort centers on stocking the nursery for fragile bottle fed kittens and young puppies so they have what they need to grow strong on their way to adoption. Requested items include kitten formula such as KMR, nursing bottles, wet kitten food, soft blankets, heating discs, paper towels, and unscented baby wipes. For puppies, supplies like esbilac formula, wet puppy food, blankets, and cleaning essentials are especially helpful. Donations can be made through the shelter’s Amazon Wishlist or by dropping items off at the shelter, and these supplies are placed directly with foster families who provide continuous care until the animals are ready for their next step. Applications are also being accepted for the Foster the Fuzzy Program for those interested in supporting kittens and puppies in a home environment. With community support, this demanding season becomes a time of renewed hope for the smallest residents.

Canton First Friday Make-N-Takes at BOOMDYADA 4p-9:30p

Boomdyada, a vintage spot in Downtown Canton’s Arts District, hosts a themed Make-N-Take each First Friday with no appointment required. A different project is featured every month. If attending on First Friday is not possible, the same project is available throughout the month while supplies last, and many options are offered as DIY kits to make at home or give as gifts. The shop also carries ready-to-purchase terrariums and nature-inspired jewelry. Small groups can stop in during regular business hours, while larger groups can arrange a time in advance. Private workshops or parties are available by scheduling ahead.

May Canton First Friday

The summer edition of First Friday returns with a fresh theme celebrating the Music of Spring. Seven live acts will be spread across downtown Canton, with Lady Melma performing at Canton Centennial Plaza and additional performances by Matt Corey, Loel Stein, Rachel Shortt, Bob Frank, Samual John, and Rebekah Jean and Bryan Thomas. Summer programming also comes back, featuring the Kidz Zone presented by IBEW Local 540, a Food Truck Court, and the First Friday Summer Concert Series presented by Visit Canton, alongside ArtsinStark and the Downtown Canton Partnership. Two brand new areas will be introduced as well, the Enrichment of Stark County Zone and a community health connection zone.

Chasing Hope House Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

A community ribbon cutting celebrates the official opening of Chasing Hope House, hosted by the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce. Created to support youth navigating foster care and housing instability, Chasing Hope House offers a safe, supportive environment focused on stability, healing, and a second chance. Lunchtime Yoga

Certified instructors lead a calming yoga class on the MassMu lawn, with an indoor backup space in the Museum when the weather is rainy or cold. Unity of Massillon hosts an outdoor labyrinth walk in recognition of World Labyrinth Day, aligning with a global practice in which people walk labyrinths to create a continuous wave of peaceful intention moving across time zones. Finger labyrinths will be available for those who cannot physically walk the path or prefer a seated experience. The walk will be held outside rain or shine, so participants should be prepared for wet weather with an umbrella, rain jacket, or poncho if needed.

Vox Audio: Dance the Night Away

Vox Audio delivers a high-energy contemporary a cappella showcase that transforms current hits and iconic dance tunes into fresh vocal performances. Close harmonies, inventive beatboxing, and sleek arrangements create a sound that is both precise and stylish. The program features crowd favorites including Die With A Smile from Joker, From the Start, I Wanna Dance With Somebody, and September. Presented at the Cultural Center for the Arts, this concert highlights dynamic vocals and rhythm that keep the dance-floor spirit alive.

Superfly

SUPERFLY returns to Hall of Fame Village in Canton, Ohio with an expanded 2026 edition that turns up the cars, music, and excitement. Expect hundreds of eye-catching vehicles, live entertainment, and food and drink specials for a full evening centered on automotive culture. A Paul Walker themed R34 with a manga-inspired twist from DriveFunDoGood will be in the spotlight, with an opportunity for someone to make it theirs. DJ Shagoki keeps the energy high throughout, and an awards presentation brings the celebration to a close. The schedule features early access for Curated and Curated Plus participants, load in for general admission ahead of the main showcase, the Superfly show itself, and awards, with the DJ set continuing through the end.

The 137th Gathering of BYS welcomes new and returning writers to share original songs in a two set showcase. Sign up takes place at the door before the music begins. To register, include your name, your song title, what you will need, whether you wrote the song in the last 60 days, and whether you have shared at BYS before. There are 20 player spots, and while not everyone may get to perform, requests are ranked for placement in the first or second set. Priority goes first to new writers with a new song written in the last 60 days, then to returning writers with a new song, followed by new writers with a dusty song, then returning writers with a dusty song. If you have an amp, set it on the stage when you arrive. When you are three away from sharing, be in the green room tuning. When you are next, wait at the foot of the stage. Comedy Open Mic Night

This free comedy open mic is promoted as the only one of its kind in Stark, Ohio. Surprise drop-ins are common, with comedians from across the country often stopping by. Specials include $3 drafts, $2 well drinks, $5 appetizers, $1.50 Jello shots, $2.50 pizza by the slice, and $5 Plift, a THC soft drink that is non-alcoholic. The show has earned recognition with nominations for Best Happy Hour 2025, Best Attraction, and Best Venue, plus a 2023 win for Best B-Day Place. Elevate & Create: Art Journaling Workshop

Families with little ones can take part in a free, hands-on art workshop that builds connections between parents and children three and younger, and siblings are welcome. An opening reception introduces Elsewhere, the latest body of work by Lizzi Aronhalt. Through drawing and painting, Aronhalt examines how place, memory, and personal history intersect, using close looking and reflection to make sense of both everyday scenes and significant moments. The artwork looks outward to recognizable parts of Northeast Ohio while also considering the inner ties between these locales and emotion, memory, and lived experience. Balancing realism with abstraction, the paintings register quick impressions of architecture, neighborhoods, and figures that feel both precise and widely relatable. The series renews her attention to the human figure, contemplating family connections and relationships over time. Those shifting bonds mirror an evolving relationship to place, complex, layered, and always in flux. Together, the works reveal moments of change and invite thought about how familiar places shape who people become. Live music will be performed by Carolina Villa Nakata, light refreshments will be available, and admission is free. Lizzi Aronhalt is a Northeast Ohio based artist whose practice uses painting and drawing to explore memory, place, and how time reshapes them. Working primarily with acrylic and mixed media, she creates partly abstract city and landscape scenes informed by local architecture and personal experience. Her portfolio includes many murals and public art pieces across the region, and she has spent several years in residence at Summit Artspace, sustaining a committed studio practice connected to the communities where she lives and works.

2026 Summer Kick Off

Now in its third year, this Summer Kick Off show gathers a wide-ranging showcase at Full Throttle Detailing, featuring standout boats, clean big rigs, and an extensive mix of custom cars, trucks, and bikes. Look for a large boat lineup that includes antique and race models, multiple styles of race cars, and many custom vehicles, with over 200 cars and trucks turning out last year. $5 Movie: "The King's Speech"

With support from the Friends of the Massillon Public Library, this $5 screening features "The King's Speech," a 2010 historical drama directed by Tom Hooper and written by David Seidler. Colin Firth portrays the future King George VI, who seeks help from Lionel Logue, an Australian speech and language therapist played by Geoffrey Rush, to address a persistent stammer. Their work together develops into a friendship, and after his brother abdicates the throne the new king turns to Logue to prepare for his first wartime radio broadcast after Britain declares war on Germany in 1939. Tickets are $5 per seat and sold at the door.

Sweat Now, Wine Later Adventure Race 2026

This adventure race features a 1.5 mile paddle on the Nimishillen Creek starting at Martindale Park, followed by a 2.5 mile run or walk that finishes at Gervasi Vineyard. A wine pour or a strawberry sage lemonade awaits at the finish, along with the chance to enjoy the vineyard grounds. It is suitable for all experience levels, and kayak equipment is included. 2nd Annual Race for a Legacy 5K

At Louisville High School in Ohio, this second annual 5K run and walk brings the community together for a healthy, family-friendly experience. Registration and packet pickup are available. Critical Carry Skills

A focused two-day training experience for concealed carriers who want to sharpen essential defensive handgun skills when everything is on the line. Instruction from real-world practitioners emphasizes a mindset that turns deliberate practice into efficient, instinctive action under stress, with an emphasis on speed, precision, and confident gun handling. Participants work on safe firearm operation under pressure, the legal framework for the use of deadly force in New York (Article 35), and clear verbal commands that calm a situation or establish control. Practical drills include refining the draw from concealment to a fast, accurate first shot, managing the trigger at speed, clearing malfunctions, performing tactical and emergency reloads, and shooting while moving forward, laterally, and while retreating. Training also covers cognitive processing during high-stress encounters, one-handed operation, engagements at varied distances, everyday carry integration, and choosing, placing, and optimizing gear. This offering is not for beginners. A valid pistol permit or other proof of lawful firearm possession, proof of completing a basic CCW or fundamentals course, and full familiarity with one’s handgun are required. Please bring a semi-automatic handgun in 9 mm, .40 S&W, or .45 ACP, a strong-side belt holster with a secure mounting system including IWB or AIWB options, at least three magazines with a carrier, eye and ear protection, a brimmed hat, 800 to 1000 rounds of quality factory ammunition, weather-appropriate clothing with sturdy footwear, water, lunch, and snacks, along with sunscreen and insect repellent. For safety, holsters that use the trigger finger to release the pistol, such as Blackhawk SERPA models, are not permitted, and Sig P320 pistols and related variants are also not allowed. A club use fee of 40 dollars is due on the first day and may be paid to the club contact or the lead instructor.

Canton Parks and Rec's Annual Youth Catfish Derby

Young anglers ages 4 to 15 can cast for catfish at Westbrook Park Pond with Canton Parks and Rec. This free, public event awards prizes to winners and runners up in three divisions, 4 to 8, 9 to 12, and 13 to 15. Parents are not allowed to fish, although they may help younger participants with baiting hooks and removing fish. Catfish must be alive at the time of measurement to qualify for prizes. Cruisn' Thru History Car Show

An annual car show fills the grounds of the McKinley National Memorial with classic and contemporary rides. Spectator admission is free. Ionic Foot Cleanse & Detox Walk-Ins

At Lotus Grove Wellness, walk-in Ionic Foot Cleanse and Detox sessions offer a simple way to begin a wellness routine or support ongoing self-care. The program emphasizes detoxification as a supportive process for the body, and cites research indicating that foot detoxes may help remove toxins and heavy metals, support pH balance, promote healthy circulation, ease stress, reduce inflammation, address harmful microorganisms, and strengthen the body’s natural defenses. NCRC Hawks - 4th Annual Summer Campout

Now in its third year, this summer campout and fun fly features space for tents and campers, with onsite generators available for charging batteries. AMA pilots can participate in the flying, and visitors may attend as spectators.

Rumours Ohio

Part of the MKF Summer Concert Series in Massillon, this show features Rumours Ohio, billed as Ohio's number one Fleetwood Mac tribute. The set highlights beloved Fleetwood Mac classics along with chart topping songs by Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, and Christine McVie. The concert takes place outdoors on the 21 acre grounds of the Massillon Knights Foundation. Food vendors will be available, and beer and wine will be sold on site. Admission is $10, and guests under 18 attend free when accompanied by an adult holding a ticket or pass. Bring a lawn chair for seating. Presented by K8 Event Team, a nonprofit that raises funds for instruments and lessons for local children in financial need and supports the arts through live concerts. After three years of producing concerts in Canal Fulton, the team now brings the event to a new venue.

Annual Legacy TOUCH-A-TRUCK

Legacy Touch-A-Truck returns to Louisville for its third year with a full day of trucks, heavy equipment, and hands-on activities in support of Legacy of Honor and its mission. Attendees can climb aboard vehicles, meet real first responders, and get an up-close look at massive machinery. New highlights include live helicopter landings along with an expanded lineup of vehicles and activities. A sensory friendly hour will be offered with no horns, sirens, or lights. Gervasi Vineyard Miles for Mimosas 5k

This 5k pairs running or walking with mimosas, set among the vineyards at Gervasi Vineyard and the scenic trails of Stark Parks. The event is chip timed and professionally scored by J3 Timing, with results available online. Registration includes a soft ring spun cotton T-shirt, a mimosa themed finisher medal, a race bib for the 5k run or walk, online results, and a mimosa. Gervasi Vineyard is also a destination with lodging options, including Tuscan inspired Villas, a boutique inn called The Casa, and a restored farmhouse from the early 1800s.

Zumba in the Park

Get moving with Zumba in the Park, a 45-minute outdoor fitness class suitable for every experience level. Expect easy-to-follow dance rhythms focused on fun, fitness, and community connection at the National First Ladies Library & Museum, First Ladies Park. Wear comfortable workout clothes and bring water. Instruction is led by Christina Callahan, a registered nurse and certified Zumba instructor with experience at the Green and Jackson YMCAs, and additional certification in Zumba Toning. Her classes emphasize wellness, laughter, and the restorative power of movement. Free and open to all, with registration requested.

Hometown Jams: Parmalee

Parmalee headlines a Hometown Jams concert at Centennial Plaza in Canton, Ohio. The lineup includes live sets with a DJ playing between performances, with additional acts to be determined. This all-ages event welcomes families, and children 7 and under are admitted free.

Open Drum Circle - Summer Solstice

An open drum circle welcomes all to mark the spring equinox with rhythm. Bring a drum if you have one, or use the shared noisemakers available. If you prefer to relax, bring a blanket, settle in, and let the beats support personal sound healing and an inward journey. Voluntary donations will benefit Light after Loss.
