Teacher Comedy Night!

The Unteachables bring their Paid Time Off Tour to Syracuse Funny Bone with a night of uncensored standup and a loose, anything-goes Q and A. Once the loud kids in the back of class, this crew of comedians who also taught America’s youth covers far more than classroom chaos and welcomes anyone who could use a laugh. Their credits include NBC, The Breakfast Club, The New York Post, and Roast Battle League, and the tour salutes all things education with a lineup that even includes a past Teacher of the Year and a comic who lost a job over TikToks. Miss Redacted, a teacher turned fast-rising comic and co-host of the Teacher Quit Talk podcast, swaps lesson plans for punchlines, with millions of TikTok views to her name and no learning objectives on the setlist. Stephen Taylor blends stories from his Louisiana roots and life in Kansas City with easygoing Southern charm, backed by appearances on The Breakfast Club, The New York Post, and San Francisco Sketchfest, plus a debut album, The Bottom Half, that hit number one on iTunes and airs on SiriusXM. Lou Pharis, a Louisiana native who shifted from football ambitions and an unsuccessful American Ninja Warrior bid to the classroom and the stage, has earned more than 100 million social views, headlined Zanies, Comedy Works, and Wiseguys, appeared on NBC and Bored Teachers, and performed at festivals across the country.

CNY Artist Initiative: Gallery Talk with Renqian Yang

CNY Artist Initiative featured artist Renqian Yang leads a gallery talk that offers an inside look at her practice and the special exhibition Renqian Yang: Neither Here nor Elsewhere. Light refreshments will be available afterward, and admission is Pay-What-You-Wish. Yang’s work centers on porcelain and the idea of duality. The material is both delicate and enduring, used for everything from industrial components to ornate objects, born of earth yet, once fired, seeming to transcend it. Solid to the touch yet luminous in light, porcelain has captivated artists and collectors for centuries. Working in China, Yang traced the material’s origins back more than 1,300 years. Her porcelain forms echo the sharp lines of vibrant urban landscapes while carrying organic gestures that suggest human feeling. Motifs from twentieth century commercial prints meet the spirituality of classical brush painting, and the clarity of pure white porcelain often stands in striking contrast to vivid color. Neither Here nor Elsewhere brings together pieces created in her Oswego studio and during residencies in China and North Carolina. Grounded in place yet attuned to porcelain’s universality, the work uses the medium for inquiry, reflection, and self expression. Organic and constructed forms merge with personal experiences and shared histories, exploring how emotions endure, change, and connect people across time, place, and culture.

At the Center for Sound & Ceremony, Amy and Meg facilitate a Moon Manifestation Ritual rooted in Keiko’s Power Wish method. Held just ahead of the New Moon or Full Moon Sound Journey, this gathering focuses on writing clear, timely intentions that match the current lunar phase and astrology. Participants learn to craft potent New Moon and Full Moon wishes, choose language that aligns feeling and attention, work with moon cycles to activate zodiac strengths, and combine gratitude, focus, and vision to support manifestation. The experience is designed to bring dreams into sharper relief while aligning inner state with the future being called in. No prior astrology knowledge is required. Please bring a journal and pen, and wear comfortable clothing suitable for sitting on the floor. Copies of The Power Wish are available for purchase, and monthly cheat sheets are provided to support the process. The main entrance locks at the start and late arrivals cannot be accommodated. Full Moon in Capricorn Sound Journey

Aligned with the Capricorn Full Moon, this sound journey at Center for Sound & Ceremony centers on grounding, purpose, and steady progress. Capricorn’s influence emphasizes discipline, mastery, and long term vision, creating space to acknowledge what has been built and to let go of what no longer supports the life you are shaping. Guided by teachings from The Power Wish by Keiko, the session encourages releasing doubts about success, renewing commitment to goals and purpose, welcoming recognition and career opportunities, cultivating structure and lasting abundance, and setting down burdens that are ready to be released. A rich soundscape of crystal singing bowls, Tibetan bowls, gongs, chimes, drums, the crystal lyre, and other ceremonial instruments invites deep rest and helps balance the nervous system. The vibrations assist with clearing emotional heaviness while anchoring intentions in a calm, grounded state. Participants can settle in, reflect on recent progress, realign with strength and stability, and leave feeling clear, centered, and empowered. Sound healing supports the body, mind, and nervous system through vibration, often bringing profound relaxation, reduced stress and anxiety, emotional release, sharper focus, improved sleep and physical restoration, heightened intuition, and a renewed sense of balance. Some instruments may be played near or around the body so the resonance can be felt directly. Comfortable clothing and a water bottle are recommended, and a journal can be helpful for reflections. Mats, blankets, bolsters, and eye masks are provided for comfort. Please arrive on time, since the building’s entry doors lock after hours and late entry is not possible. Allow extra travel time for weather or construction. Free parking is available. Events of this kind tend to reach capacity, so booking ahead is advised. All sales are final.

Live Dead & Brothers: An All-Star Celebration of Grateful Dead & Allman Brothers

Live Dead & Brothers brings an all-star salute to the music of the Grateful Dead and the Allman Brothers Band to The Westcott Theater in Syracuse. The lineup features Berry Duane Oakley, Mark Karan, Scott Guberman, Pete Lavezzoli, Melody Trucks, and the Fitzkee Bros, drawing from the extended families of both legendary bands. Together they revisit the spirit of the historic co-billed concerts from 1969 to 1973, with expansive improvisation, deep grooves, and soulful melodies. Expect favorites like Ramblin’ Man, Morning Dew, Jessica, and more. In addition to the music, the performance spotlights this countercultural milestone by weaving in spoken-word elements from the Acid Test. Armed only with a suboxone prescription and each other, they fight through one brutal night as mounting physical, mental, and emotional distress drives them to sift through shattered memories and search for where things fell apart. Shot on miniDV in Athens, Georgia on a $60,000 budget, the film is raw, direct, and unexpectedly funny. It has collected 12 festival honors, including Best Feature and Best Director at the Art of Brooklyn Film Festival and Best Actress at the Kanazawa Film Festival. Film Threat has lauded it as a standout depiction of addiction reminiscent of Requiem for a Dream.

Unlike many tribute acts, he focuses on the era when Elvis was at his peak. The performance has drawn praise from people close to Elvis, including stepbrother Billy Stanley, who said Stone’s voice evoked Elvis when he closed his eyes, and Joyce Bova, who highlighted his talent, charisma, and appeal. Italian Wannabe - Film by Steve Dabal

Italian Wannabe, a film by Steve Dabal, follows a celebrated Los Angeles chef who chooses to begin again in a quiet village in the Italian countryside, not to run from the past but to savor life anew. Bill Disselhorst and his wife Anne built Fiore Market Café in Los Angeles into a place known for its tight-knit community and its fresh bread, and shortly after it earned a spot on Yelp’s Top 100 Restaurants in America, the café was sold. Years later Bill returns to Casperia, a medieval Italian town where his love of food first took root. There he slows his pace, kneads dough by hand, shares meals with neighbors, and reconnects with the enduring ties that remain when other things fall away. Presented through intimate, observational scenes, poetic moments, and rich portraits of Casperia’s residents, the film reflects on human connection, the search for belonging, and the simple rituals that make a truly satisfying meal. Doors open before the screening, and a Q&A follows.
