Begin the week in a different way with a half-day, intentionally held space that emphasizes clarity rather than urgency. The gathering opens with a guided Somatic Clarity session led by Alanna, an embodied practice that supports nervous system regulation, softens mental chatter, and helps you root into a steady outlook for the days ahead. Afterward, the space remains available for whatever feels supportive to you, whether quiet work, reflection, gentle collaboration, journaling, or rest. There is no set agenda and nothing you need to accomplish. It is not structured as a typical class or a coworking block. It offers a calm, spacious start, held with intention. Attendance is limited to 15 people, and the cost is $45. Arrive as you are and leave with a clearer orientation for the week.

Cardio Drumming Exercise Program For Adults

Get your heart pumping with a cardio drumming exercise program. The class uses exercise balls and drumsticks to perform various exercises to music from instructional videos. All fitness levels are welcome, and all materials are provided. Class size is limited.

Collage Jazz

Attend a concert featuring Collage Jazz. The performance will be a collaboration with the Holland Patent School Jazz Ensemble in celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month. The two groups will perform together, as well as individually. Admission is free, and drinks will be available for a donation.

EARTH Club of Central NY

If youre curious about metal detecting, come share stories and ideas, connect with others who share your interest, listen to guest speakers, and take part in monthly finds competitions. This gathering welcomes people of all ages. Please note that this group does not get together in December.

Free Travel Presentation

At Burrstone Inn, Tours By Design presents two complimentary travel sessions that cover the same material in separate time slots to accommodate different schedules. A representative from Mayflower Cruises and Tours will lead an in-depth look at featured air itineraries, including Winter in Yellowstone National Park, Tulip Time on the Jewels of the Rhine, and Iceland. There will also be a brief overview of additional air tours with limited availability, such as an itinerary to Mount Rainier and Olympic National Parks and a Nashville city stay, with flyers provided. Information on upcoming motorcoach trips from Tours By Design will be shared as well. Guests are asked to RSVP for one session so seating and materials can be prepared. This family-oriented event takes place in the parking lot at MVCC Rome Campus. Children of all ages can get an up-close look at local emergency, construction, and community vehicles and learn more about them.

First Source Part-Time Teller Open Interviews

First Source is hosting open interviews for part-time teller positions, also known as Member Service Representatives, available across all branch locations. Interviews take place immediately, so bringing a resume is recommended. A bachelor’s degree is not required, and there are opportunities to learn on the job. The organization highlights a supportive team environment, work-life balance, and a consistent practice of promoting from within. A Renaissance Tapestry

At Stone Presbyterian Church, Tapestry, the All-Centuries Singers, presents a program of Renaissance repertoire with Italian and English madrigals, German Lieder, and French settings of the Psalms. Admission is $15, with a $10 rate for seniors and students.

Makerspace Open Hours

Visit the Makerspace, a room designed for crafting and creating. Use the available equipment and materials, bring your own project, or begin something new. Make History: 100 Family Portrait

Mid-Utica Neighborhood Preservation Corporation invites families, individuals, elders, and community members to take part in the 100 Family Portrait exhibit honoring a century of Black history in Utica and across the United States as part of the 10th Annual Juneteenth celebration. Participants can receive no-cost, professional portrait sessions of about 15 minutes, with the option to bring historical family photos to be scanned. Portraits may be selected for inclusion in the Juneteenth exhibit. Space is limited, and advance registration is required. This project focuses on preserving the present, strengthening visibility, and building legacy so community stories are seen, remembered, and celebrated. 2026 Annual Meeting

At Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Utica, the Chamber’s Annual Meeting recognizes members and highlights the organization’s work for the business community. The program opens with a brief recap of 2025 and a preview of plans for 2026. Attendees can enjoy food stations and passed hors d’oeuvres prepared by Doubletree by Hilton, along with live music. After the meeting, there is time for networking, and the Small Business Expo returns for a third consecutive year. Chamber Members at the Belong level and above receive a minimum of two tickets, with additional tickets for Investors and Sponsors based on level. Extra tickets are available for $20. Yin Yoga NEW TIME! (hybrid)

With the days stretching longer and the weather improving, this Yin Yoga class will begin a bit earlier, while the format stays the same. Yin Yoga emphasizes the body’s connective tissues, including ligaments, bones, and joints that are not typically engaged in more active asana. It is suitable for nearly all experience levels and serves as a complement to dynamic, muscle-focused practices. Sessions often include held poses that address areas such as the hips, pelvis, and lower spine.

Medicinal Plants of the Mohawk Valley

Explore the rich diversity of wild plants that thrive across the Mohawk Valley’s fields and forest understories in a discussion that highlights both edible and medicinal species. The gathering will touch on plants that are native as well as those that are naturalized or invasive, with guidance on conservation, sustainable and ethical harvesting, and traditional healing practices. With spring underway, special attention will be given to woodland spring ephemerals and how to recognize their seasonal presence. The program is led by Lisa Fazio, a community and clinical herbalist with 30 years of experience working with the bioregional flora of the Mohawk Valley and the Adirondack Foothills. She founded The Root Circle, an educational center that promotes herbal medicine as a vital part of a healthy community, and is the author of Della Medicina: The Traditions of Italian American Folk Healing. Improv Level 1: Intro to Improv

Improv is a great way to get out of your head and into the moment. In this class, youll learn the fundamentals of improvisation while building confidence, creativity, and communication skills. Meet new people, laugh a lot, and discover what happens when you stop overthinking and start playing. No experience is required, just a willingness to participate and support your classmates. Throughout the course youll learn the core principles of improv, including agreement and collaboration, active listening and reacting in the moment, building characters and relationships, and creating improvised comedic scenes as a team. Whether youre looking to try something creative, build confidence, or simply have a great time each week, this class is the perfect place to start. Devin Mahoney, who has over 20 years of experience in improv comedy, will be the instructor.

Out in Oneida Meetup

Out in Oneida is a welcoming meetup for LGBTQIA+ community members and allies, open to adults 18 and older. The gathering takes place at Oneida Public Library.

Cardio Drumming Exercise Program For Adults

Join a 30-minute cardio drumming exercise program. All materials are provided. Space is limited to 10 participants. This activity utilizes an exercise ball and drumsticks, and participants will follow along with instructional videos on YouTube. People of any age and fitness level can participate, with the ability to tailor the exercises to your fitness level.

April League Challenge

The April League Challenge has a $15 entry fee. Prizes will be paid out in store credit. Both the number of rounds and the store credit amounts will depend on how many participants attend.

Chicken Riggi Dinner Fundraiser

Schuyler Commons hosts a second annual dinner benefiting the Kelberman Center, featuring a menu of chicken riggies, greens, salad, bread, and dessert. Nature’s Palette | Art Exhibit Opening Reception

This opening reception introduces Nature’s Palette, a group art exhibition centered on the beauty, complexity, and emotion of the natural world. A range of artists present diverse media, styles, and viewpoints, interpreting everything from the subtle cadence of changing seasons to the power of untamed landscapes and the ties between people and the environment. With vivid color, organic textures, and expressive forms, the work reflects on harmony and tension between life and landscape, on growth and decay, and on stillness alongside transformation.

Repair Café

Bring an item that needs fixing to Utica Creative Reuse for a community repair café. Volunteers will help diagnose what is wrong and coach you through the steps to get it working again, building your repair skills along the way. RSVP to have an item looked at, or volunteer to assist with repairs.

An Evening with Anthony Rapp

Anthony Rapp, recognized for originating the role of Mark Cohen in the Broadway musical Rent, offers an evening of stories from a career on stage and screen. The program reflects on his early breakthrough and the experiences that followed, sharing moments and insights gathered along the way. Children under 8 are not permitted in the makerspace during open hours. Love Your Library Bingo

Celebrate National Library Week with an evening of bingo. Adults ages 18+ are welcome. Pizza, drinks, and book-themed prizes will be provided. Six rounds of bingo will be played. Registration is required.

Roll & Reset : Lower Body

Led by Juliana, this lower body Roll & Reset workshop weaves guided movement, breathwork, and self-massage to release tension and improve mobility. Focus centers on the legs, hips, abdomen, and breathing, with options offered for all experience levels. Expect calming, therapeutic sequences that use Roll Model® Therapy balls to support relaxation and reduce stress. Please bring a yoga mat and water, and wear comfortable clothing. BCC Weekly Youth Gathering

The Bosnian Community Center of Central New York and Utica City Sports Center have teamed up to offer a weekly gathering for youth ages 13 to 21. Participants can enjoy sports, casual games, social time, and dancing in a friendly setting that encourages connection and community. Maire Ni Chathasaigh and Chris Newman

The Irish Cultural Center of the Mohawk Valley welcomes back Maire Ni Chathasaigh and Chris Newman to its stage. After a memorable appearance in 2023, their return offers both first-time listeners and long-time fans another chance to experience their dynamic duo in concert. This distinctive collaboration brings together an acclaimed English flatpicking guitarist with a groundbreaking Celtic harper praised by Live Ireland. Their touring has reached 22 countries across five continents, with close to two thousand performances in venues of every size. Maire is a leading figure in Irish traditional music, and the late Derek Bell of The Chieftains praised her as an exceptionally original voice on the Irish harp. Chris is an entirely self-taught virtuoso who began playing as a child, gave his first paid folk club performance at fourteen, toured widely with swing guitarist Diz Disley around the UK, and through that connection performed with Stéphane Grappelli’s band. He cites Denny Wright as a key influence on his melodic improvisation. Earlybird tickets are $20 online, then $25 online or at the Five Points Public House. Children 12 and under are admitted free. Alfred Hitchcock’s 1946 thriller brings together Cary Grant, Ingrid Bergman, and Claude Rains in a tale of espionage and sacrifice. An American agent enlists the daughter of a deceased Nazi official to infiltrate the circle of a powerful figure, a mission that could even require marriage to the target. Leonard Maltin’s Movie & Video Guide praises the film as tense and well acted, highlighting an especially suspenseful climax, and awards it three and a half stars. This US production is presented in black and white, runs 101 minutes, and will screen in a digital DCP format. The screening is not rated. Some scenes are intense, so parents and guardians should use discretion for children. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, students, and military, $6 for Capitol Friends, and $4 for children 12 and under.

A Taste of Opera

A concert of opera highlights features the Mohawk Valley Choral Society at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes of Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish. Aquatic Sound Bath Float

An aquatic sound bath experience at the MVCC Jorgensen Center Fitness Center invites participants to float on twin air mattresses in a warm pool while immersed in a live soundscape. Gongs, Tibetan, crystal and alchemy singing bowls, chimes and a drum create vibrations that travel through the water and the body, encouraging deep relaxation, steadier sleep, less stress and anxiety, a quieter mind and an overall sense of ease. Many people notice a feeling of lightness, gentle tingling or shifts in temperature, colors or other imagery, emotional release and a sense of energy moving, along with moments of clarity and insight. Lifeguards are on duty to assist with getting on and off the floats, and boarding involves stepping into the pool to just below knee level. Intex Dura Beam air mattresses are provided and accommodate up to 300 pounds. Lightweight fleece blankets and eye masks are included. Comfortable, loose clothing such as shorts and a T-shirt is recommended. Bring a small pillow or folded towel for head and neck support, a large towel and a change of clothes in case of splashes, and drinking water, as the pool area is kept warm. Participation is limited to 20 people and a minimum of 6 is required for the session to run. Prepaid registration is required and the fee is $100, which secures a float. This will be the final session for a period while the pool is closed.

A community portrait project invites families, individuals, and elders to be photographed as part of a 10th Annual Juneteenth exhibit led by Mid-Utica Neighborhood Preservation Corporation. The effort marks 100 years of Black history in Utica and across the United States. Complimentary 15-minute professional photo sessions are available, and participants may bring historical family images to be scanned. Selected portraits may appear in the exhibit. Settle in with afternoon tea while exploring meditation and building a personal practice. At Copper City Cigars & Lounge in Rome, NY, a live cigar rolling presentation features Franklin A. Pichardo, a former Opus X cigar roller, showcasing the craft, tradition, and precision behind premium hand-rolled cigars. The evening centers on fine cigars and entertainment, offering a rare chance to see an expert at work up close. Admission is $65 for members and $75 for non-members, and includes one premium hand-rolled cigar and food. Members may also purchase an additional three-pack after the event. Utica On Film: Landmark Moments

A special screening spotlights Utica’s past through rarely seen films and videos. Presented by Patrick Reynolds, Director for Public Programs at the Oneida County History Center, the program features footage that includes the 1932 Centennial celebration, vintage street trolleys, the grand reopening of the Boston Store, and a final farewell to Donalty and Callahan’s Saloon. WKTV News Channel 2 meteorologist Eric Gage shares selections from WKTV’s archive and explains how the digitization work preserves these moving images. A Central New York native and SUNY Oneonta graduate, Gage has collaborated with WKTV anchor Ben Kinne to uncover and safeguard these materials. Previously presented at the Oneida County History Center, this program is hosted at the Utica Public Library.

World Ballet Company: Cinderella

Cinderella comes to life with World Ballet Company in a lavish staging with Broadway flair that blends comedy, romance, and the grandeur of classical ballet. A cast of 40 international dancers performs Marina Kesler’s choreography amid hand-crafted sets and more than 150 hand-sewn costumes, bringing favorite moments to the stage from the stepsisters’ mischief to a sweeping ballroom. The performance runs two hours with a 20-minute intermission and is appropriate for ages 2 and up. World Ballet Company is based in Los Angeles and led by Sasha Gorskaya and Gulya Hartwick. The touring ensemble features renowned professionals representing over ten countries, has appeared in more than 300 cities, and has reached more than 500,000 people, many experiencing ballet for the first time. Expect magic, beauty, and a happily ever after, and be ready for everything to change when the clock strikes midnight.

Through the Reflection invites artwork that plays with mirrored worlds and shifting viewpoints, where everyday scenes are altered by glass, water, and other reflective surfaces to blur the line between what is present and what is perceived. The exhibition focuses on images that suggest hidden feelings, fleeting encounters, and the quiet rhythms of daily life seen anew. This is a free, open call for a not juried, salon style group show. Submissions are accepted on a first come, first served basis. To be included, send work electronically to executivedirector@romeart.org by the listed submission deadline. Please limit entries to three pieces per artist. Submit JPG files named with the artwork title and overall dimensions that include the frame, and keep each image file to a maximum of 2.5 MB. The Fort on the Frontier: The "Jersey Grays" Occupy Fort Schuyler

Explore the story of 1776 in the Mohawk Valley, when the 3rd New Jersey Regiment, the “Jersey Grays,” fortified towns and villages throughout the region. Just Breathe, Relax, Renew & Restore Yoga

Created for Mother’s Day, Just Breathe Yoga Studio offers a nurturing experience that honors the women who are always caring for others. A small group of 15 participants will unwind in a 90 minute class featuring a mix of gentle, yin, and restorative postures that welcome every experience level. After the practice, enjoy tea, food, and treats, and feel free to bring a favorite beverage to share. Each attendee will receive a flower and a little something to take home. The price is $45, and registration is required by May 7. Register by May 1 to save $15.

575 & Under 8-ball BCA rules

Compete in an 8-ball tournament at Copper City Billiards capped at 575 and under. It is open to all, and advance registration is required. Matches are played on twelve 7-foot Diamond tables with a randomly drawn bracket run through Digital Pool, and results are reported to Fargo. The entry fee is $55, which covers TT and a $5 administrative fee. Eligibility and rating details include adjustments for robustness. League players with fewer than 200 robustness will be set 25 higher. Others under 200 robustness are moved higher and will be reviewed. Players with no league experience or FR start at 550 unless playing speed is known otherwise. The format is true double elimination under BCA/CSI standards. On the winners side, R5 uses a hot race with a maximum of 8-3. On the one-loss side, R4 uses a hot race capped at 7-3. No one races to fewer than 3, for example a 6-2 race becomes 7-3. Players lag for the break, pocketing the 8 on the break does not win or lose the game, and jump cues are allowed. Breaks alternate, it is rack-your-own, and a scratch on the 8-ball is ball in hand. A players meeting will be held. Side action includes a 10-ball break-and-run pot set at $500 or $50 per ball with $2 tickets, plus a 50/50 raffle.

Created for women who juggle it all, this 60 minute experience blends movement with mindful restoration. The first half features a high energy kickboxing segment that welcomes beginners and focuses on releasing stress and mental load, reclaiming a sense of strength, and channeling frustration and tension in a supported, healthy way. It is more than a workout, it is an outlet. The second half shifts into guided energy work, a mind body practice that helps participants slow down and turn inward to process what lies beneath the surface. It includes breathwork to soothe the nervous system and ease out of constant go mode, grounding techniques that foster safety and presence, body awareness to notice where emotions are held, and practices that allow those feelings to move. The session closes with intention setting to move from depletion to clarity and from overwhelm to empowerment. Mothers carry a lot, mentally, emotionally, and physically. This space offers room to feel without judgment, release without guilt, and reconnect with self beyond roles. Afterward, light snacks and refreshments are provided, along with time to connect with other women and a quiet moment to simply be. Cost is $40 per person.

Happy End arrives in a live collaboration with the Glimmerglass Festival, a jazz-tinged musical comedy by Kurt Weill, Bertolt Brecht, and Elisabeth Hauptmann. The tale satirizes corporate power and organized religion, unfolding in a smoky speakeasy where gangsters make deals while the Salvation Army seeks converts. Premiered in Berlin in 1929 and shut down after only two performances, the piece blends biting humor with an infectious score. The performance is led by music director Rob Ainsley, artistic and general director of the Glimmerglass Festival, and staged by Mary Birnbaum, general and artistic director of Opera Saratoga. Rome Family YMCA Aquatic Sound Bath Float

Certified Sound Healing Practitioner Andrea Lisette Villiere leads an Aquatic Sound Bath Float at the Rome Family YMCA, inviting participants to rest on twin air mattresses in the pool while a soothing soundscape unfolds. Waves of resonance from gongs, Tibetan, crystal and alchemy singing bowls, chimes, and drum travel through the water and body, encouraging deep relaxation, a quieter mind, and an overall sense of well-being. Many people report lighter moods, improved rest, and a renewed feeling of balance after this kind of experience. Participants may notice a sensation of drifting, gentle warmth or coolness, tingling, or energy moving throughout the body. Visuals such as colors can arise, and emotional release or intuitive insights are possible as attention follows the layers of sound. Lightweight fleece blankets and eye masks are provided. Two lifeguards will assist with getting on and off the floats, and the Intex Dura-Beam air mattresses support up to 300 pounds. Wear loose, comfortable clothing such as shorts and a T-shirt. Bring a small towel for under the head or neck, a larger towel, and an extra change of clothes in case of splashes. Flip flops or slip-on sandals are recommended for walking on the pool deck, and locker rooms are available for changing. Prepayment is required and secures a float. Center Centric is a group exhibition that celebrates the Rome Art and Community Center as both a creative muse and a welcoming gathering place. Paintings, sculpture, photography, and mixed media come together to reflect the Center’s spirit, history, and energy, highlighting its role in artistic expression and community connection. Each work functions as a conversation between artist and place, honoring an enduring hub of imagination and shared experience. This free, open call is non juried and presented in a salon style. Submissions are accepted on a first come, first served basis, with a limit of three pieces per artist to encourage a broad range of voices. Artwork must be submitted electronically in JPG format, labeled with the title and dimensions including the frame, and sized no larger than 2.5 MB per image. All pieces must be ready to hang or display. Wall works should be properly framed or presentation ready if unframed, with secure wiring that does not extend above the top of the frame, and clip frames are not accepted. Artwork may be delivered or mailed, and late entries will not be accepted. At drop off, artists will complete a Loan Agreement and provide their name, address, phone number, title, year, medium, dimensions including the frame, and price. Please place a removable sticker or a Post it note on the front of each piece for easy label matching. Works may be offered for sale, and the organizer retains a 30 percent commission on pieces sold. Presented by Upstate Cancer Center, this Relay For Life brings the Central NY community together at Delta Lake State Park to celebrate cancer survivors, encourage those in treatment, remember loved ones, and raise funds for the American Cancer Society’s research and support programs. The day begins with laps for survivors and caregivers, followed by a complimentary lunch reception for survivors. While teams circle the track, there are on-site fundraisers, free activities for kids, music, friendly contests, themed laps, cancer education information, and a variety of food trucks. Admission is free, park entry is complimentary for attendees, and there is ample free parking. Survivors who pre-register online can receive a survivor T-shirt by mail. A luminaria ceremony later in the day honors and remembers those affected by cancer as white luminaria glow around the track, and the gathering concludes with closing ceremonies and awards. At Fort Stanwix National Monument, explore the story of Fort Schuyler at its 250th year and how it was rebuilt to safeguard the Mohawk Valley and the emerging United States. Throughout the day, the fort comes alive with demonstrations by silversmiths, barrel makers, blacksmiths, surgeons, musicians, and other tradespeople who show the skills that supported a community preparing for defense. Hands-on experiences, designed for all ages, highlight how the past is recreated today by drawing on artifacts preserved in the historical record.

This one day 10 ball rotational tournament at Copper City Billiards is capped at 575 and under. The 10 on the break does not count and early combinations are not allowed. The default race is to 7 with handicaps by Fargo range. Players rated 530 to 575 race to 7, 500 to 530 race to 6, and 499 and below race to 5. If opponents are even in Fargo, races are to 7 on both the winner and loser sides. The bracket is double elimination until the final, which is a race to 11, and no splits are permitted. The three foul rule is in effect and only cue ball fouls are called. Shots and safeties must be declared. If a called shot leaves the next player hooked, they may give the turn back to the shooter. Defensive play is not allowed after a ball is pocketed, and breaks alternate.

Oriskany: the Lost Battlefield

Historian Joseph Robertaccio presents a program at the Oriskany Museum that explores the Battle of Oriskany through fresh research and rediscovery. The talk surveys the battlefield using aerial archaeology, historic photographs from the 19th and 20th centuries, and eyewitness testimony to identify key locations and track down long-missing reports about the battle and its aftermath. The Play Center offers a free flag shirt making activity for children planning to attend the parade or fireworks. Bring a plain white T-shirt, and paint and step by step guidance will be provided so each child can create a personal flag themed design to wear. The format is flexible, so participants can drop in at any point during the event and take part. The activity is designed to bring neighbors together and add to the memories of this community tradition.
