Spring 4-H Paper Clover Campaign

Support local 4-H programs by purchasing a paper clover at checkout in store or online while shopping at Tractor Supply Co. The participating location for Seneca County is the Seneca Falls store, and the listing aligns with that store’s regular hours. Since 2010, Tractor Supply and 4-H have worked together to help young people build practical skills and confidence. The Spring Paper Clover Campaign has raised more than $24 million for youth development. Every donation through this bi-annual effort benefits 4-H, with 90 percent staying in the state where it is given and the remaining 10 percent supporting the broader mission of 4-H nationwide.

*Free* Childbirth Education Class with Moms PLUS+

A free, three-session childbirth education class with Moms PLUS+ is offered in person at the Howell Conference Room in Cayuga Medical Center. Community health nurses lead the sessions and cover labor and delivery, relaxation techniques, medication options, creating a birth plan, newborn care, and breastfeeding. Each pregnant participant may bring one support person, and attendees are asked to plan on being present for all three sessions. The current class is full and registration is closed. They take on a string of daring, unpredictable games and scenes in an effort to satisfy the legendary creatures said to lurk in Cayuga Lake. This performance takes place at the Ithaca Farmer's Market.

Old Greeny Lighted Bike Parade

Celebrate the often overlooked waxing gibbous with a glow-bright ride at Old Greeny Fringe Fest. Dress up your bike with lights and costumes, or wear green in honor of the legendary lake monster Old Greeny for a parade to remember. Cyclists gather at the Ithaca Farmers Market for a short pre-ride showcase before rolling out. The route weaves along the waterfront trail with pauses at select venues for surprise guests, bursts of wonder, and unexpected fun, and walkers join in at GreenStar Co+op. The ride concludes at The Cherry Arts with a costume party marking the inaugural Old Greeny Fringe Fest, and groups are escorted back to the Farmers Market after the celebration. At Barnes Hall, pianist and composer Arthur Siyun Li unveils a prototype for a site-specific piano recital inspired by Hong Kong's Tai Kwun, a former colonial police compound that has become a heritage site in the Central district. The performance draws on the character of this landmark, shaping a recital concept designed with a particular place in mind.

Experience Afro-Cuban traditional and folkloric dance with live drumming at TreeHouse Studio & Lounge. Explore Afro-Cuban and Caribbean rhythms through movement led by Adolfo Castillo and Lisbet Lopez, professional dancers from Guantánamo, Cuba who share deep cultural knowledge. Expect story-driven dances, a new focus introduced each month with warm ups that revisit earlier material, and a strong emphasis on syncing movement with live percussion. Yates County Habitat for Humanity is seeking its next partner family and is holding an information session at Lyons National Bank. Attendees can pick up a partner family application and talk with Habitat volunteers to learn how the process works and get answers to questions. Progressive Farm to Historic House Museum: Rose Hill Mansion

Historic Geneva’s executive director, Kerry Lippincott, presents the story of preserving Rose Hill Mansion, tracing its restoration and its designation as a National Historic Landmark. Once a working farm, Rose Hill was home to at least fourteen families between 1809 and 1965, and it has operated as a historic house museum since 1968. The talk explores the people who lived and worked on the property and how the site moved from a private home and farm to a museum. Part of Historic Geneva’s commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, this program takes place at the Geneva History Museum and is open to the public. A suggested donation of $5 supports the programming.

Consciousness Rising Womens Circle

This weekly women’s group offers a supportive space to explore spiritual and mystical experiences. Co-hosts Myra and Mary Hope introduce a fresh topic each week, encouraging connection that supports personal growth and practices aimed at welcoming positive outcomes and abundance. YOGA with Tammy Wilcox

Participate in a Yoga exercise class. Make sure to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Youll also need to bring your own yoga mat, and be aware that some exercises are performed on the floor. Due to increased attendance, the class has been moved to St. Matthews Church, in the Community Room, which is located across the street. The Horseheads Friends of the Library group is funding this class.

Makerspace Open Hours - AM Session

Drop in during open hours, no registration is required. Take a quick tour, or stay and create a project. There are many art supplies and ideas available to help you get started. The laser cutter, 3-D printer, Cricut, and sewing/embroidery machines are available for use. All equipment is available on a first-come, first-served basis. If others are waiting, machine use is limited to 30 minutes, with the exception of the 3-D printer. These sessions are intended for independent makers, and staff training will be limited. Ages 16 and older are welcome to attend on their own. Attendees ages 12 to 15 must be accompanied by an engaged adult. There are some rules that apply to the usage of library materials. For example, some materials are free to use during one-on-one training, and specific library programs. Some materials, like wood and acrylic, are not free for personal use and must be provided by the attendee.

Cousins Maine Lobster brings a midweek pick-me-up to Tractor Supply in Canandaigua with a truck serving lobster favorites. Orders can be placed at the truck with cash or any major credit card, or made contactlessly in advance through the Cousins Maine Lobster mobile app by selecting Rochester, NY as the location. The app accepts orders only during operating hours, and during busy periods ordering may be temporarily paused to manage high demand and maintain product quality for the familiar CML experience.

Mother Circle

An intimate eight-week circle at Yoga Sisterhood offers a place to exhale and be seen for women mothering in any season, from the newborn phase to the school years or during times of shifting identity. Participants receive steady support for the nervous system, take part in facilitated conversations about matrescence and identity, and have room to speak without the weight of comparison. The circle weaves in somatic practices that reconnect you with your body and nurtures genuine community with others on a similar path. Group size is kept small so trust can deepen and every voice is heard. Small talk is set aside and there is no expectation to perform, creating space for candid connection. A friendly weekly group run brings together youngish runners from the Ithaca area, starting and finishing at Bike Bar Ithaca. Participants break into pace groups, choose routes and distances that fit their goals, then reconnect afterward at Bike Bar for conversation. Popular options include a short outing to Ithaca Falls at roughly 2 miles, a trip to Stewart Park at about 4 miles, an extended loop that adds the golf course at around 5 miles, or a longer run on the South Hill Rec Way at about 7 miles. Reflective gear or a headlamp is recommended, and wearing light colors rather than dark clothing helps with visibility. The run goes on in all kinds of weather, so plan for the conditions and adjust as needed.

Movie Night Fundraiser featuring Listers: A Glimpse into Extreme Birdwatching

Friends of Stewart Park presents a movie night fundraiser featuring Listers: A Glimpse into Extreme Birdwatching, a family-friendly documentary directed by Owen Reiser and featuring Mason Kelly and Quentin Reiser. The film follows two brothers who dive into competitive birdwatching, spending a year on the road in a used minivan as they travel the country in pursuit of a Big Year. The screening will include an introduction by Dr. Stephen Kress, author, ornithologist, and founder of Project Puffin. Tickets are $25, with admission for ages 12 and under at $10. Popcorn and water will be provided, and attendees are welcome to bring other snacks or drinks. Womens Dragon Tribe ~ Informational Gathering

An introductory gathering presents the vision for Women’s Dragon Tribe, a new women’s circle that plans to meet twice a month on Thursday evenings. Guided by Elise, an Akashic Records practitioner and psychedelic breathwork facilitator, the session focuses on nurturing a fuller relationship with the whole self through the lens of dragon energy. It offers a compassionate space to explore emotional awareness, the idea of soul remembrance, and how engaging with the inner dragon can reveal parts of ourselves that are often ignored or feared. The focus is to share what the group’s essence is and what it is intended to embody moving forward.

A six course wine pairing dinner spotlights selections from Chateau Ste. Michelle alongside a menu created in collaboration with Chef Marcus. Founded in 1967, Chateau Ste. Michelle set out to show that outstanding wines could come from Washington State, and its terroir-focused winemaking, spirit of innovation, and award-winning craftsmanship helped bring international attention to the region. The winery remains a Washington icon and continues to shape the future of American wine. The evening begins with a Little Gem salad featuring crispy sunchokes, ramp ranch dressing, burrata, grapefruit, and fennel paired with A to Z Rosé. Yellowfin tuna ribbons with yuzu whipped avocado, cucumber, crispy wonton, and Kaluga caviar follow, matched with Estival Sauvignon Blanc. A filet of halibut arrives with spring onion beurre blanc, pickled ramps, herb salad, and wild garlic oil, paired with Rex Hill Pinot Noir. Handmade Maine lobster ravioli in a vodka arrabbiata sauce with garlic breadcrumbs and shaved celery is served with Cold Creek Chardonnay. Angus Reserve NY strip steak comes with morel mushroom butter, Korean fried morels, vegetable demi-glace, and a mélange of roasted Finger Lakes vegetables paired with Ethos Cabernet Sauvignon. Poetry Night: Mary Gilliland & Peter Fortunato

Autumn Leaves Books hosts an evening of poetry with readings by Mary Gilliland and Peter Fortunato. Both authors will share work from their newest books. Admission is free, and a book signing will follow. The program takes place downstairs on the ground floor. Gilliland’s recent collection Within the Shop of the Divine (Arc Publication, 2025) reflects on grief and recovery, with poems rooted in the natural world and the places and histories that shape it. Her chapbook Red Tide at Sandy Bend (Bodily Press, 2025) turns to algal blooms to explore toxicity and the intimate interdependence of living beings. She is the author of The Devil’s Fools (Codhill Press, 2022), winner of the Codhill Press Pauline Uchmanowicz Award. Her work appears widely, including in the anthology Rumors Secrets & Lies: Poems about Pregnancy, Abortion, & Choice (Anhinga Press, 2022). Her honors include a Stanley Kunitz Fellowship at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown and a Council for the Arts Faculty Grant from Cornell University. She has taught and performed at the Al Jazeera International Film Festival, the Chautauqua Institution, and the Namgyal Monastery Institute of Buddhist Studies, and earlier apprenticed to Gary Snyder in the Sierra foothills while studying Buddhism and helping to build a wood-framed public school. Fortunato’s books World Headquarters (Fomite, 2024) and Desert Wind: My Life in Qatar (Cayuga Lake Books, 2023) draw on life in Doha, the natural world, connections between local experience and larger themes, and his years as a teacher. He has published several poetry collections, the novel Carnevale (Fomite Press, 2019), and holds an MFA from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he received the Randall Jarrell Fellowship, as well as a BA in English from Cornell University. His teaching includes positions at Cornell, Ithaca College, and Weill Cornell Medicine in Qatar. His awards include the Emily Dickinson Prize of the Poetry Society of America, a Pablo Neruda Prize from the Oklahoma Arts Council, and a Yeats Poetry Prize from the WB Yeats Society of NY. He has long studied Zen and Tibetan Buddhism and is also an artist and practitioner of complementary alternative medicine.

Lilypad Puppet Show: Old Greeny

Presented at The Cherry, this all-ages puppet performance follows Aunt Irene on a lively quest to meet Old Greeny and secure an autograph, only to be waylaid by a string of impostors. The show mixes music with a playful assortment of variety acts, including a singing eye doctor, an opera-loving cat, alien visitors, and plenty of gleeful absurdity. Live accompaniment comes from classically trained guitarist Matthew Ocone. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for children, with free admission for ages two and under. This event is part of Old Greeny Fringe Fest, a week-long celebration of the weird, wacky, and whimsical inspired by the legend of Old Greeny, the Cayuga Lake cryptid. Stories for a Cause: An Evening with Two Authors

At Skaneateles Brewery, two authors gather for an evening of readings and conversation in support of the It Takes a Library Capital Campaign for the new Skaneateles Library. The evening features time for drinks and mingling, then an author talk where Radha Lin Chaddah and Sheila Myers read from their newly released novels and share the inspirations behind them. Books will be available for purchase, with proceeds directed to the campaign. Renderings of the planned library building will be on display, offering a look at the vision for the community’s future library space. Radha Lin Chaddah’s And The Ancestors Sing traces multiple generations through sacrifice and survival and the enduring pull of home, set amid the changes that followed the Cultural Revolution in China. Sheila Myers’s The Painting is a contemporary family drama inspired by the controversial sale of a Hudson River School painting by the William Seward House Museum after a prolonged court battle.

Designed for women in midlife, this workshop offers a nurturing space to reconnect with your body’s intelligence, your heart’s wisdom, and a deeper sense of purpose. Inspired by Wise, Wild Surrender: A Midlife Manual to Return to the Innate Power Within, the experience centers on letting go of what no longer serves and settling into a more authentic rhythm. Guided practices include circle sharing and reflection, gentle somatic movement for release and reconnection, embodiment and nervous system regulation tools, a guided meditation, a brief sound bath, and simple self care rituals to carry into everyday life. ASIST is a two day workshop that equips people to notice when someone may be at risk of suicide and to work with them on a plan that prioritizes immediate safety. While it is commonly used by healthcare professionals, no prior training is required and the approach is intended for anyone. The skills can be used across the community with family, friends, coworkers, and teammates, as well as in formal caregiving roles. Its wide adoption helps create a shared language for understanding suicide safety and communicating across different organizational settings. This training is free to attend. Department of Physics Colloquium, Professor Peter McMahon, Applied & Engineering Physics, Cornell University

Professor Peter McMahon from Cornell University will be giving a talk on Quantum Computational Sensing. He will discuss the merger of quantum sensing with quantum computing and how it has given rise to the idea of quantum computational sensors, as well as a new type of quantum advantage. He will explain how this advantage can be achieved with lower hardware requirements than purely computational quantum advantage, and will provide numerical examples of how quantum computational-sensing advantage can be achieved in abstract problems and in sensing magnetic fields from the brain. He will also discuss the first experimental demonstration of quantum computational-sensing advantage.

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo and Taco Tuesday with a paint and sip evening at Star Cider. This session differs from the usual format, since drinks are not included, canvas sizes are smaller, and the activity takes place upstairs. Supplies will be pre-packaged so participants can pick them up and start painting right away, with guidance available for questions while enjoying cider and tacos. *Free* Childbirth Education Class with Moms PLUS+

This free, three-session childbirth education series from Moms PLUS+ takes place in person at the Howell Conference Room in Cayuga Medical Center. Classes are led by community health nurses who hold CAPPA credentials through the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association, an international certification organization for doulas, childbirth educators, and lactation educators. Topics include preparing for labor and birth, relaxation and comfort techniques, pain management and medication options, planning your birth preferences, newborn care, and breastfeeding. Attendees are asked to commit to all three sessions, and each pregnant participant may bring one support person. Space is limited. The current spring session is full and registration is closed. Seare Farhat DMA Recital

Guided by a reflection from Franz Kafka’s 1920 letter to Milena Jesenská about speaking as a ghost through words, this recital explores how music created today can converse with works and ideas from the past. The program features a range of pieces largely by DMA composer Seare Farhat, moving from solo instrumental writing to mixed media, electronic textures, and chamber ensemble settings. Each selection takes up the theme of a spectral dialogue in its own way. Featured performers are Asher Wulfman on violin, Hannah Soren on cello, Jack Yarbrough on piano, Ariel Mo on piano, Seare Farhat with voice and electronics, Jasmine Morris with voice and electronics, and María Bulla on synthesizer. Afro-Cuban Dance Class with Live Drumming

Experience Afro-Cuban traditional and folkloric dance with live percussion at TreeHouse Studio & Lounge in downtown Ithaca. Instruction is led by Adolfo Castillo and Lisbet Lopez, accomplished professionals from Guantánamo, Cuba, who guide participants through story-driven dances and the connection between rhythm and movement. Expect new dance modalities introduced each month, warm-ups that revisit prior material, technique building that supports any movement art, and a welcoming community that encourages both mental and physical fitness. All ages and experience levels are invited to take part, and no prior dance background is needed. Bring a water bottle and a towel if needed. Registration is expected, and the class runs with a minimum of six participants. All participants are added to a WhatsApp group for class communication. Pricing is $15 per class with a monthly commitment, for example $60 for four weeks, or $20 for a single drop-in. Trek Geneva Tuesday Night Rides

Join Suzanne every Tuesday for a 2-hour road ride. The route is about 35 miles and the average speed is 16-18mph. A safe bicycle in good working condition, a safe helmet, water, and nutrition are required. Day-time running lights and a flat fixing kit are strongly recommended.

10:30am Outdoor Storytime at the Community Garden

A garden-themed storytime takes place outdoors at Penn Yan Community Garden. Geared toward children under five with a caregiver, it blends storybooks, songs, and simple movement with sensory moments inspired by the garden’s sights, scents, and tastes. The garden does not have restrooms, seating, or running water, so participants are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chairs, dress for the weather, and pack water, sunscreen, and snacks. If the weather turns, the program will move to the library, with the final location shared on the library’s social media that morning. Two sessions are available, so choose the option that works best for your schedule.

Mother Circle at Yoga Sisterhood is an eight-week gathering for women in any stage of mothering, whether navigating newborn life, the school years, changing identities, or anything in between. It offers a welcoming place to exhale, speak candidly, be seen, and reconnect with yourself. Participants engage in supportive practices for the nervous system, thoughtful conversations about matrescence and identity, sharing without comparison, and somatic work that brings attention back to the body. The focus is on genuine community rather than small talk or performance. The circle is kept intentionally intimate so trust can grow and every voice has space. Cayuga Waterfront Trail Workday

Led by Rick Manning, this volunteer workday in Cass Park focuses on sprucing up the Bird Garden, Priscilla Point, and the Inlet Overlook near the Dragon Boat Docks and Coach's Crossing. Volunteers will trim native grasses and perennials on both sides of the trail and cut back vegetation along the trail edge to keep views of the Inlet open. Please bring hand tools such as pruners, loppers, a bow saw, rakes, or an electric blower, and dress for gardening with gloves, long pants, boots, and sun protection. 28th annual Spring Writes Literary Festival - May to Sept, Live & Zoom

The Community Arts Partnership of Tompkins County brings its 18th annual Spring Writes Literary Festival to life with more than forty free literary happenings. Expect author readings, panel conversations, cross-genre performances, hands-on workshops, a Book & Zine Fair, and a Survivor-style literary showdown. Programming welcomes both seasoned writers and anyone who simply loves the written word. Festivities open with an in-person weekend across venues including Buffalo Street Books, the Ithaca Downtown Conference Center, Tompkins County Public Library, Lot 10 Ithaca, Liquid State Brewing, and The Cherry Arts. Additional sessions follow, with a series of Zoom events that make the festival accessible to literary fans near and far, plus eight more in-person gatherings at Buffalo Street Books. 2026 ROC City Concerts

April-May | 6-Week Cooking Series Ages 7-10

This interactive series invites young cooks into the kitchen for six weeks of hands-on learning. Participants build confidence as they practice essential safety, experiment with new ingredients, and create dishes to enjoy at home. Each session builds on the previous one, introducing core cooking skills while encouraging creativity, teamwork, and the chance to discover personal tastes. The aim is to make cooking fun while helping kids feel comfortable and capable with every recipe they tackle.

Honors Thesis Screening

In the Kiplinger Theatre at the Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts, this Honors Thesis Screening presents senior honors film projects from Cornell. The program features Undone by Izzy Falchuk ’26 and The Extraordinary Adventures of Ann Robinson by Justin Lee ’26, followed by a Q&A with the student directors. Undone follows a young woman rebuilding her life in New York after a devastating betrayal, prompting her to confront who she is without her trauma. It is a tense, intimate character study about the lingering effects of harm and the moment when healing becomes a conscious choice. Approximate runtime: 25 minutes. The Extraordinary Adventures of Ann Robinson charts the title character through three distinct stories that span multiple genres, exploring themes of existentialism, absurdism, identity, and rebellion while pushing stylistic and formal boundaries. Thursday Night Social Group Run

A friendly weekly group run sets out from Bike Bar Ithaca and welcomes youngish runners from around the area. After gathering, runners head out in self-selected pace groups for about 30 minutes, then return to chat and unwind. Each group chooses its own route and distance, with popular options such as Ithaca Falls at roughly 2 miles, Stewart Park at about 4 miles, Stewart Park with the golf course loop at about 5 miles, or South Hill Rec Way at around 7 miles. Reflective gear or headlamps are recommended and dark clothing should be avoided for safety. April-May | Intermediate Cooking Series Ages 11-14

Designed for those who have cooked with the instructor before or who already spend time in the kitchen at home, this hands-on, six-week cooking series dives deeper into skills and techniques. Menus and lessons evolve each week to reflect the group’s abilities, interests, and curiosity, opening the door to advanced methods and fresh culinary challenges. Young cooks will gain confidence, strengthen safe kitchen habits, and try new ingredients while preparing dishes they can recreate and share at home. Each session builds on the last, fostering creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork as participants explore increasingly sophisticated techniques and flavor pairings with greater independence.

Letters & Lattes

Letters & Lattes is a free weekly drop-in creative space for ages 15 to 23. The atmosphere is intentionally inclusive and welcoming, whether you are into writing, drawing, painting, collaging, or simply spending time around encouraging people and good energy. There is no pressure, no prior experience needed, and no labels, with the focus placed on creativity and community. Participants choose what to make and how to make it. Attendance is flexible, whether every week or whenever it fits your schedule, and there is always a seat waiting. This gathering is for ages 15 to 23 only and there is no cost to attend.

Student Film Screening

Presented by the Department of Performing and Media Arts, this Student Film Screening features original work shaped by collaborative and empathetic storytelling. The program takes place in the Kiplinger Theatre at the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts and unfolds over two evenings. The first night spotlights films created in PMA 4585: Film and Video Production II. NASCAR returns to Upstate New York as the Cup Series roars into Watkins Glen International, concluding with Go Bowling at The Glen. Guiding Eyes FLX Dine & Donate at Cayuga Lake Creamery

Cayuga Lake Creamery at the Dewitt Mall in downtown Ithaca hosts a Dine and Donate benefiting Guiding Eyes for the Blind Finger Lakes Region. The event pairs local ice cream with a give-back effort, as a portion of each purchase supports the puppy raisers, sitters, and volunteers who dedicate their time, energy, and love to raising and training future guide dogs.

Makerspace Open Hours

Drop in during open hours to tour the space or work on a project. Art supplies and ideas are available. You can use the laser cutter, 3-D printer, Cricut, or sewing/embroidery machines. Equipment is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and machine use is limited to 30 minutes if others are waiting (except for the 3-D printer). These sessions are intended for independent makers, as staff training will be limited. The event is open to those 16 and older. Ages 12-15 are welcome with an engaged adult. Some materials are provided, but others, like wood and acrylic, are not.

First Aid/CPR and AED at Seneca Falls Community Center

At Seneca Falls Community Center, Respond Safely Training offers a Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED course that builds practical skills for emergency response. Completion results in a two-year certification priced at $107. This credential is required for teachers, coaches, and school administrators, and public schools are required to have an operational AED on site. Caregivers in daycare centers, afterschool programs, and preschools must be trained in CPR, First Aid, and emergency medication administration for children. The course also serves massage therapists, parents, grandparents, day care providers, and construction workers.

Mom and Me- Flowers and Tea!

Kids and their mom or favorite grown-up can spend time together making floral centerpieces and decorating a picture frame at this hands-on gathering hosted by Studio 31. After the crafting, the centerpieces are used to set up a tea party, and a photo is taken to place in the newly decorated frame as a keepsake to take home. The cost is $15 for one grown-up and one child, plus $5 for each additional child.

Led by a trio of Berthas singing in harmony and backed by an all Bertha band, the group has built a nationwide following among Deadheads for its high-energy concerts. Past highlights include collaborations with local drag queens in Mexico and appearances on major festival lineups across the United States. In partnership with PLUS1, $1 from each ticket supports local organizations that promote the health and wellbeing of LGBTQ+ communities.

Yvonne Fisher, a writer, performer, visual artist, and psychotherapist, will share pieces from her repertoire. Barbara Lang, a past winner of the Trampoline Grand Slam Storytelling Competition, will present tales of moving from stuck to unstuck. Homeschool Art Program Session 7: Experimenting with Mixed Media with Gracy Getz

Explore mixed media in a hands-on art session led by Gracy Getz. The class centers on acrylic and watercolor while introducing additional techniques and materials with each project, encouraging students to experiment and welcome unexpected results as part of the creative process. Thanks to support from the Lisk Morris Foundation, this homeschool art program offers weekly instruction for students ages 10 to 17 during the 2025 to 2026 school year. Teaching artists Gracy Getz and Diane Stratton-Smith developed the curriculum so participants can try new mediums, build skills, and enjoy creating alongside peers. Diane Stratton-Smith teaches Art Therapy at Nazareth College and has led classes at ACYC, and Gracy Getz is a local artist with a strong arts background who volunteered for three years at Emmanuel Baptist Academy in Penn Yan. The program is organized in five-week sessions, with seven sessions in total. Enrollment is on a first come, first served basis, and each session includes five classes with full participation expected. You may register for a single session or for multiple sessions. The fee is $50 per student per session, or $10 per class. Families registering more than one student in the same session or enrolling one student in multiple sessions pay $35 per student per session, or $7 per class. All supplies are provided.

Petra Mann of Fruition Seeds leads an evening program titled Seeds & Transplants: Grow Fruitful Futures for Us All, celebrating the sharing of hundreds of regionally adapted seed and transplant varieties while fostering a culture of gifting and community that supports future generations. Guests may arrive a few minutes early to add their own seeds or transplants to a shared collection, and those without contributions are welcome since simply being present and open to receive is valued. The gathering follows an open house format, so participants can come and go as needed. Take time to connect with fellow gardeners and head home with an abundance of seeds and transplants to grow with family, friends, neighbors, and the broader community. Sea Glass Succulents Workshop

Enjoy a hands-on creative session at The Sherwood Inn in Skaneateles, where Lindsay guides participants in making a pair of illuminated sea glass succulents. Choose from colors like blue, green and white, with the possibility of a few rarer shades. The lights are battery powered, and each finished piece measures approximately 4.5 to 5 inches tall and about 4 inches wide. Tickets include all supplies and instruction. Advance registration is required, and every attendee needs a ticket. Any updates will be shared by email prior to the workshop. Food and beverages are available for purchase from The Sherwood Inn’s menu, which features options such as seafood, steaks, salads, sandwiches, pub fare and appetizers. A special Right Bites menu is sometimes offered for these workshops. "Haudenosaunee Influence on the Women's Rights Movement"

Explore how the women of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy shaped the early fight for women’s rights. Ciarrai Eaton, executive director of the Matilda Joslyn Gage Foundation, presents how figures like Lucretia Mott, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Matilda Joslyn Gage drew lessons from Haudenosaunee women. The program will be held in the dining room at Becker Mansion. Materials for continued reading will be available after the talk. Admission is $8 for SFHS or MJGF members and $10 for nonmembers. Advance registration is welcome but not required.

ABC LGBTQ+ Issues: What Makes X-Men So Gay?

Acceptance, Belonging & Community sessions create space for LGBTQ+ people and allies to learn about topics within the community and ask questions in a supportive environment. This installment features a screening and discussion of a video by YouTube cultural critic Matt Baume that examines the queer threads woven through X-Men comics and movies. Anyone drawn to the crossover of pop culture and identity can participate in person at St. Mark's Church or take part virtually. The organizers include Keuka Compass, Finger Lakes Justice Partnership, and Saint Mark's Church.

Makerspace Open Hours

Drop in during open hours to take a short tour, or stay and dedicate time to a project. There are many art supplies and ideas available. Use the laser cutter, 3-D printer, Cricut, and sewing/embroidery machines. Equipment is available on a first come, first served basis, and machine use is limited to 30 minutes if others are waiting, with the exception of the 3-D printer. These sessions are intended for independent makers, as staff training will be limited. Those ages 16 and older are welcome to attend on their own, while those ages 12-15 must be accompanied by an engaged adult. Certain materials are free to use during one-on-one trainings or library programs. Cardboard, paper, scrap wood, and 3D printer filament are free for all patrons during these sessions. For wood, acrylic, sticker vinyl, and other specialty materials, please provide your own materials. Any plastic or non-wood materials for the laser cutter/engraver must be approved by library staff, and proof of material content is required.

Forge a Hook

At this workshop, you will learn the basics of blacksmithing and forge a simple hook. With heat and hammers, metal can be molded and shaped, unlike woodworking where material is removed or glued. Mark Teece, an accomplished blacksmith and former college chemistry professor, will be teaching. The class will introduce you to working with hot iron to create household objects. You will learn techniques like drawing out, bending, and twisting to create tulip hooks. The class will also cover hammer techniques, anvils, vises, and tongs. After wire brushing and cleaning, the hook will be coated in a hot wax finish. Expect to leave with basic forging skills and the knowledge needed to forge hot steel. Prior experience will help you refresh your skills. Students will forge a traditional tulip hook using blacksmithing techniques. Students under 18 may attend with parental permission.

GOAT YOGA! (Yoga, with goats) May session

Enjoy a relaxing yoga session in a pasture with goats. People of all skill levels are welcome, and prior yoga experience is not required. A certified yoga instructor will lead a gentle yoga session while goats roam around and even climb on participants. After yoga, spend an hour visiting the other animals on the farm and have the option to buy food made with farm-fresh ingredients. Participants should bring their own mats, although extras will be available. In case of bad weather, the session will be moved inside the barn. Participants must be 18 years or older and sign a waiver before participating.

Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! The Musical!

Mo Willems’ Pigeon leaps from the page to the stage in a playful musical from TheaterWorksUSA. When the Bus Driver faces a problem that could make passengers late, the determined bird finally gets a chance to help, launching a feather-filled adventure set to an energetic score. The script is by Mo Willems and Mr. Warburton, lyrics are by Willems, and music is by Deborah Wicks La Puma. Based on the book Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! by Mo Willems, the show runs about 60 minutes and is recommended for children in grades Pre-K through 2. Commissioned by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, it premiered there during the 2019-2020 season. The music spans familiar rock, pop, and acoustic favorites from the 1970s to today. Warblers, Wildflowers, and Wine @Montezuma Winery

Celebrate the season with a nature walk and tasting experience presented by the Montezuma Audubon Center in collaboration with Montezuma Winery and Hidden Marsh Distillery. An Audubon educator leads a guided outing along the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s South Spring Pool Trail to look for returning warblers and spring blooms. After the walk, the event moves to Montezuma Winery and Hidden Marsh Distillery for a tasting flight pairing wines with snacks, with a mocktail option available. During the tasting, Daena Ford from Braddock Bay Raptor Research introduces raptor ambassadors for a live educational encounter. The program begins at the National Wildlife Refuge’s South Spring Pool Trailhead and then continues to the winery and distillery. Carpooling is suggested because parking at the trailhead is limited, and additional parking is available nearby at the National Wildlife Refuge’s Hunter Check Point Station. Tickets are $40 per person for the wine flight and $35 per person for the mocktail flight, and participants should select their preferred flight when purchasing.

Punch Needle Embroidery Workshop

Local artist Jennifer Thomas leads a beginner-friendly workshop introducing punch needle embroidery. Often compared to painting with yarn, this faster approach to fiber art is used to create rugs, pillows, and wall hangings. Attendees will work with a hollow, pen-like needle to push yarn or thread through woven fabric, producing plush loops on one side and flat stitches on the other. This project receives partial support through the Statewide Community Regrant Program of the New York State Council on the Arts, with support from the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, and is administered by the Arts Council of the Southern Finger Lakes.

Needle Felt Chickens

Learn the basics of chicken-themed needle felting with 171 Cedar Arts Center teaching artist Cynthia Cratsley. This beginner-friendly workshop introduces a dry technique that uses barbed needles to catch and mesh wool fibers, so repeated pokes gradually form firm shapes. Create sculptural three-dimensional pieces or flat designs while building confidence with the tools and process. Suitable for ages 16 and older. Support is provided in part through the Statewide Community Regrant Program of the New York State Council on the Arts, with assistance from the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, and administration by the Arts Council of the Southern Finger Lakes.

Summer Fun Action Pistol Shoot

A welcoming action pistol event invites both members and the general public to enjoy a day of safe, friendly competition across four stages set on CSC Pistol Bays 2, 3, 4, and 5. Designed for newcomers and experienced shooters alike, the course of fire includes a plate rack challenge, a mystery action stage, a multi-paper target setup inspired by an around-the-clock layout, and an all-steel course featuring ten targets. Each stage requires at least ten rounds for a 40-round minimum overall, and bringing extra ammunition is encouraged. Participants must have a valid New York pistol permit, arrive with an unloaded pistol that is either cased or carried in a holster, and wear both eye and ear protection. More than 100 rounds are recommended, with calibers from .22 LR through .45 ACP welcome. Shooters should be comfortable operating their firearm, and the emphasis remains on a positive, cooperative atmosphere. The entry fee is $20 per person, and registration is handled through Practiscore.

Kodachrome, a multi award-winning saxophone quartet founded by four Arizona State University graduate students in 2022, brings a vibrant, boundary-crossing program to First Presbyterian Church of Skaneateles. The performance moves from machine-like rhythmic intensity to wide-open contemporary sound worlds, highlighting the ensemble’s versatility and color. The program includes The Mechanics by Carter Pann, Cathedral Lakes by JoAnne Harris, Ida Gotkovsky’s Quatuor de saxophones, and Nepomuk’s Dances by Marcelo Zarvos in an arrangement by Bonson Lee. Since its formation, the quartet has earned top honors at the Coltman and Plowman Chamber Music Competitions and the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, represented the United States at the Chengdu International Sister City Music Festival, toured the Midwest on the Fischoff-sponsored Double Gold Tour, and appeared on WFMT as part of the Dame Myra Hess Concert Series. Kodachrome is dedicated to collaborating with composers, regularly taking part in ASU’s Prisms Contemporary Music Festival to premiere new works while sharing its music with communities in Phoenix and beyond.

Art in the Finger Lakes Exhibit Opening Reception

The Art Center of Yates County presents an opening reception for an exhibition that celebrates the light and scenery of the Finger Lakes through watercolor. 8th Annual Ithaca Reggae Fest - June 26-28, 2026

The 8th Annual Ithaca Reggae Fest brings a full weekend of community and music to Stewart Park in Ithaca, celebrating the area’s reggae roots while supporting the protection of Cayuga Lake. Since its inaugural event, the festival has raised funds for and highlighted the work of environmental organizations focused on vital water resources, uniting the community around a shared commitment to clean water. A free Welcome Block Party at the park’s Large Pavilion kicks off the festivities with headline DJs to be announced, GIAC Jumpers, and more, along with food and beverages. Throughout the weekend, mornings begin with yoga followed by live performances from international, legendary, and local reggae artists. Hands-on experiences include the Lake Discovery Village, Skate Village, and Art Village, while the International Food Village offers a range of global flavors. Tickets are offered in tiers, with Advance 1 pricing at $55 for a weekend pass or $35 per day, Advance 2 pricing at $75 for a weekend pass or $45 per day, and gate pricing at $95 for a weekend pass or $60 per day.
