At Hobbs Farmers Market at Green Meadows Lake in Hobbs, NM, the Hobbs Dignity Drive focuses on getting everyday essentials into the hands of neighbors who need them. The goal is simple and practical, centered on hygiene, laundry, and household cleaning items that support dignity and daily well-being. Donors are encouraged to bring new, factory sealed products in standard sizes. Personal care needs include items such as body wash or bar soap, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant for anyone, toothbrushes and toothpaste, period products, hand sanitizer and pocket tissues, nail clippers and tweezers, cotton swabs, body and baby wipes, toilet paper, basic first aid like bandages and antiseptic ointment, first aid kits, moisturizer and face wash, shaving cream or balm along with razors, lip balm, and hand soap. For laundry, detergent in liquid, powder, or pod form, dryer sheets, fabric softener, and stain remover are helpful. Household cleaning supplies such as multi-surface cleaners, disinfecting wipes, dish soap, sponges and scrub brushes, paper towels, kitchen-size trash bags, toilet bowl and glass cleaners, and bleach tablets are also appreciated. Grabbing an extra item or two during a regular grocery run can make a meaningful difference for local families.

Auditions are announced for Rascality on the Rig, presented by special arrangement with Midland Community Theatre. This classic melodrama by Williams S. Davis, directed by Dallas Jenkins, unfolds in Southeast New Mexico with exaggerated heroes, dastardly villains, mistaken identities, romantic entanglements, and oil field chaos. The story follows Terence Trueblue as he returns to restore his father’s honor by proving there is oil in the region, while the scheming Lester Leasehold plots to seize land, disrupt drilling, and force the heroine Patience Plugback into marriage. Roles to be cast include the villain Lester Leasehold, the noble hero Terence Trueblue and his loyal yet dim-witted friend Sliderule Simpson, the virtuous Patience Plugback and her flirtatious aunt Peaches Plugback, the weak-willed geologist Ralph Rockhound, the loud and boastful drilling contractor Skeeter Skidder, Terence’s snobbish and dramatic stepmother Lady Lucretia Lugbottom, Frank Formfill-A, a by-the-book Texas Railroad Commission agent, and Digger with a crew of roughnecks who bring comic relief.

Presented by the international photographic organization CENTER, this free, interactive printing workshop shows participants how to produce high quality photographic and fine art prints with Epson professional printers. Aimed at photographers, artists, and creative entrepreneurs, it offers practical, guided instruction on preparing and printing work suitable for sales and promotion. Attendees depart with completed prints of their own images. A suggested materials donation supports paper and supply costs. All skill levels are welcome, and capacity is limited. Instruction is led by JC Gonzo, an artist, writer, and filmmaker based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, originally from Anthony, New Mexico. He studied filmmaking, photography, and studio arts at the College of Santa Fe between 2008 and 2011, completing a self designed BA. From 2020 to 2023 he published the Southwest artist showcase zine Cuidado and received a Fulcrum Fund Award in 2022. His work has been presented in New Mexico at the New Mexico Museum of Art, No Name Cinema, the Sanitary Tortilla Factory, among other venues. In 2024 he held an artist residency at The Ranch Residency in La Madera, New Mexico.
