Psychic Night at The Captain's Inn -Tickets must be purchased in advance. A Reiki and Readings Event

A Reiki and readings experience brings hands-off energy work and private guidance to Captain's Inn. Each pre-purchased ticket reserves a half-hour window and includes a 12 minute Reiki relaxation session, a 15 minute personalized reading, and a $20 certificate to use toward restaurant purchases on the same day, not valid at the Tiki Bar. After completing the sessions, guests can head to the main dining and bar area to redeem the certificate and enjoy food and drink at the venue. There is no need to stay for the entire event outside of the reserved time. The visit starts with a calming Reiki session on treatment tables staffed by practitioners for each time slot, with headphones or earplugs available to reduce noise and support relaxation. Readings follow in a seated area. Bringing questions is encouraged, and readers are assigned intuitively ahead of time unless a specific request was made during purchase. All readers are vetted and bring years of experience, each with a unique style and connections to deliver meaningful messages. Advance purchase through the official event link is required, space is limited, and tickets are non-refundable. Arrive at the selected time to keep the reserved slot, as late arrival may result in forfeiture. Only tickets obtained through the official link are honored, and taxes and processing fees apply. The organizers may rescind or cancel a ticket or reservation at their discretion, with refunds issued if they cancel when applicable. Groups that want appointments near each other should purchase together in one transaction or add a note with names so times can be aligned.

Tamiya Mini 4WD Mega Series Major Payne Track Race

Eric M, the Racemaster, hosts a Mini 4WD competition on the Major Payne track, which features twists and jumps to challenge every build and driver. Classes and regulations have been updated to support a fun, safe, and fair experience. The event highlights thoughtful setup, smart strategy, and good sportsmanship, not just raw speed, in the spirit promoted by Tamiya Japan. Categories include a Junior class for racers 14 and under that follows box stock rules. The Box Stock category requires cars to use only parts included with the kit and the standard motor, with no mixing of parts from other kits and no modifications. The Tuned class allows off-the-shelf upgrades or mixing parts from other kits, but no chassis or parts modifications such as trimming for clearance or pierced wheels. Polycarbonate bodies are permitted and may be trimmed, painted, and stickered for design, while remaining identifiable and mounted with the body catch. Motors in this class are limited to normal and Tuned series. BMax is also included. Open or Outlaw allows off-the-shelf upgrades and mixing parts from other kits, and modifications to parts are permitted within Tamiya regulations. In this category, Tamiya Mini 4WD motors up to Sprint Dash single shaft and Mach Dash Pro double shaft are allowed, while Jet Dash, Ultra Dash, and Plasma Dash are prohibited. Special changes or additional categories may be introduced at the organizer’s discretion. Technical requirements include rollers that originally came with rubber or plastic O-rings having those O-rings installed, with noncompliance leading to disqualification. Only untampered alkaline, NiCd, and NiMH batteries are permitted. Nimn and lithium high voltage batteries are prohibited and will result in disqualification. Official Tamiya Mini 4WD regulations apply. Prizes will be announced. Entry fees are 5 dollars per junior car entry with batteries included, and 5 dollars per car for other categories. Participants may register and run multiple cars per round.

Veterans Committee Meet the Second Monday of Every Month in the River Room, Come on Out and Join Us.

This meeting focuses on planning and coordinating the lodge’s efforts to honor and assist veterans and active-duty service members, reflecting the Elks long-standing commitment. Topics include outreach for veterans and their families, from hospital or home visits and care packages to emergency support and seasonal projects. The committee prepares ceremonies and observances such as Veterans Day and Memorial Day activities, builds partnerships with VA facilities, veterans homes, and community organizations, and manages grants and donations that benefit veterans, including programs supported by the Elks National Foundation. It identifies veterans in need within the lodge and the broader community, connects them with helpful resources, and fosters awareness among members to encourage participation. The group also links the lodge with district and state veterans programs so activities remain active and aligned with established Elks initiatives. Most importantly, the committee works to sustain meaningful support for veterans throughout the year, upholding the Elks values of Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love, and Fidelity.

Raul Midón

At the Grunin Center for the Arts, renowned blind singer, songwriter, and guitarist Raul Midón shares music that bridges folk, pop, and jazz with a polished, soulful touch. His latest release, Lost & Found, marks his 14th album and celebrates renewal with harmonically rich songwriting. Listeners often hear echoes of Stevie Wonder, Bobby McFerrin, and José Feliciano in his sound. He introduced the album’s upbeat, blues-tinged single Keep On Keeping On on The Jennifer Hudson Show. The album features Andres Forero on drums and percussion, Richard Hammond on bass, and Federico Pena on keyboards and piano. Next Time, a driving rock waltz co-written with Mike Errico, includes Errico on guitar, while Andrew Sherman contributes string arrangements. When We Remember brings a country flavor and finds Midón picking up the banjo from his home studio. He learned recording engineering to navigate inconsistent accessibility tools and has continued a long collaboration with New York engineer Michael O’Reilly that began with his major-label debut State of Mind under producer Arif Mardin. Additional highlights include A Condition of Love, co-written with Ethiopian R&B artist Wayna, and The Ganga Song, a playful track with a ska edge. The collection comprises ten original songs, released in April 2024, and stands as the second title on his own imprint, ReKondite ReKords. Midón’s career includes work with Bill Withers, Herbie Hancock, and Sting. He honored Joni Mitchell with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center, arranged and conducted by Vince Mendoza, alongside Lalah Hathaway, Jimmie Herrod, and Renée Fleming for PBS Next at the Kennedy Center. He earned back-to-back Grammy nominations in the Best Jazz Vocal category for Bad Ass and Blind and If You Really Want, received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Miami, and was recognized as Disability Rights Ambassador of the Year, an honor presented by Jason Mraz. This event is funded, in part, by the Ocean County College Foundation.
