Dragon Academy

Dragon Academy invites children ages 5 to 9 to a three-day creative adventure with Ms. Brit. Participants design and build a miniature dragon habitat inside a shoebox-sized container, turning it into a cozy home for a tiny dragon. Activities include exploring dragon-themed treasures, taking part in a sensory dig, and adding personalized details to each habitat. Every student also creates an official dragon certificate that features the dragon’s name and top three skills. On the final day, young dragon trainers introduce their dragons and celebrate with a fun graduation ceremony. Students should bring a shoebox-sized box or container. Member pricing is $75 and non-member pricing is $90, and supplies are included.

Cooking Demonstration features a live lesson led by Executive Chef Rob Nitti in support of JBJ Soul Kitchen and Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity. Attendees learn about each preparation during the demonstration and then enjoy the menu together. The menu includes a summer corn and tomato salad with mixed greens, red onion, bacon, and avocado finished with a Southwest ranch, steak tartare topped with a quail egg and served with toast points, sesame crusted tuna over a glass noodle salad with crispy ginger, and a raspberry lemon bar for dessert. Finnigan's Lanes hosts the annual Ocean of Love Bowl-a-thon, a two-hour bowling fundraiser that welcomes all experience levels. Gilbert and Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore

Experience the classic Gilbert and Sullivan operetta H.M.S. Pinafore in a fully costumed and fully orchestrated production from Jersey Shore Light Opera. Onboard the good ship Pinafore, Captain Corcoran’s daughter, Josephine, loves the brave but low-ranking sailor Ralph Rackstraw, nicknamed Rafe, while her father favors a match with the well-born Sir Joseph, First Lord of the Admiralty. The captain faces a parallel predicament when his former nanny, Little Buttercup, declares her feelings, and he hesitates because of social standing. Everything changes when Little Buttercup unveils a long-kept secret that turns the story around. This traditionally staged, newly produced presentation takes place on the main stage in Building 11A. Tickets are $35 for adults and $30 for seniors and students. Presented by Jersey Shore Light Opera, a veteran-managed, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) company dedicated to theater, musical performances, and arts education. The organization is nonsectarian and independent, rents rehearsal and office space from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Byzantine Catholic Church, and aims to produce Gilbert and Sullivan, operetta, and Golden Age musicals each season while continuing to feature both union and non-union performers, with plans to add members of Actors’ Equity.

Sourdough Workshop for Beginners

At Point Pleasant Boro, Maria Santos, a local sourdough cottage baker, leads a hands-on workshop created for beginners and anyone wanting a refresher. Participants learn what a sourdough starter is, how to care for it, and each step of the baking process as Maria demonstrates and guides everyone through mixing, shaping, and baking. The class also covers equipment and different types of flour, with time for questions throughout. Each attendee receives a starter in a glass jar, a Sourdough Kit that includes a banneton basket, a lame, a bench scraper, a dough whisk, and a mixing bowl, plus a detailed student guide. You will bake a loaf during class and leave with dough in your basket to bake the next day. Ongoing support continues in Maria’s private sourdough groups for learning, conversation, and recipe sharing. A monthly accessible community sound bath invites calm with crystal bowls, an ocean drum, chimes, and other soothing instruments, all set to the simple rhythms of fresh air, sunshine, and birdsong. Settle into a chair or stretch out on a blanket and simply listen. There are no participation requirements, and attendees may come and go as needed. The session runs about 40 minutes. Bring a blanket or chair and dress for the weather. Open to all ages and abilities, and the park includes paved areas and accessible restrooms. This free gathering welcomes optional donations in support of the Special Hearts Adaptive Wellness program, which creates connection and access for adults with varying intellectual and developmental disabilities through personalized, therapeutic, student-led wellness services.
