Restring Night

Take part in a focused string recycling event sponsored by D’Addario that supports the company’s Playback program. Attendees can bring in used strings and have the opportunity to receive a complimentary set of D’Addario XS premium coated guitar strings. This restring night is limited to one guitar per person and is only for six-string electric and acoustic guitars. Basses, classical guitars, extended-range or twelve-string models, and other stringed instruments are not included. For guitars with a double locking tremolo, every effort will be made to match gauge and tuning to reduce the need for adjustments. This is a free restring service rather than a full setup, so only minor tweaks will be made when reasonable, and more complex work may be referred to the repair shop afterward. Participation is at the owner’s risk, and the organizers reserve the right to decline any instrument.

Encore Spring Matinee

At Merryman Performing Arts Center, this spring matinee unfolds in two parts that celebrate storytelling through dance. The opening act showcases select classes as they animate favorite fairy tales and literary classics with music and movement, each offering a fresh twist on a familiar narrative, from playful adventures to enduring tales. The second act features an original Encore ballet that retells Little Red Riding Hood through the lens of choices, consequences, mercy, and renewal. A woodcutter leaves the path and is bound to wander in search of the magic he once shattered. Red, guided by her mother and wrapped in a cloak shaped by love and truth, stays true to the forest trail. When their journeys intersect, recognizable moments take on new meaning, suggesting that strength is expressed through selflessness, compassion, and the hope of redemption. Through dance, the production invites audiences of all ages to reflect on being protected, losing the way, and finding it again.
