Hogs and Hot Rods for Hospice

Brought by the team behind JJ's Hog Roast for Hospice, this new fundraiser presents an evening showcase at El Zagal Shrine in North Fargo for the Fargo Moorhead area. Built around JJ's car show roots yet intended as more than a traditional display, the event focuses on raising funds and awareness for the hospice care services provided by HIA Health, formerly Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Enjoy a free outdoor concert in the summer series at First Lutheran Church, presented with support from the First Lutheran Church Foundation. Supper is available for a charitable fee, with proceeds benefiting the evening’s mission partner, the Emergency Food Pantry. Trout Fest offers a relaxed evening of fishing and outdoor fun at Woodhaven North Pond, welcoming families and especially anglers ages 15 and under. It is a chance to spend time in nature, enjoy time with family and friends, and help spark a lasting interest in fishing.

This summer, the West Fargo Public Library invites teens and tweens (ages 12 to 17) to the library for crafts, games, and other activities. Rise Up Basketball Academy Golf Scramble

A four person, nine hole golf scramble at Osgood Golf Course raises funds for the Rise Up Youth Foundation, which helps young athletes and families with team fees, travel expenses, equipment, and opportunities that support growth on and off the court. Teams of four are $350. Registration includes nine holes with a cart, a $7 golf shop credit, team competition, closest to the pin and longest drive contests, a 50/50 raffle, and prize giveaways. Romkey Park Ribbon Cutting Celebration

This celebration marks the official opening of the revitalized Romkey Park. City leaders, project partners, and community members will recognize the completion of the Reimagine Romkey project with remarks, a ribbon cutting, and an unveiling of new features throughout the park, including the Municipal Pool. After the ceremony, attendees can enjoy free food, activities, family friendly entertainment, and complimentary admission to the pool in honor of the occasion.

Preserve a snapshot of today by assembling a mini time capsule at the library. Mini capsules and a variety of craft supplies will be provided, and participants are encouraged to bring personal items to include. Craft a small keepsake that reflects this moment and take it home to open later.

Dinner at The Arbors at McCormick Park, formerly the Milk Made location, features a welcoming, pay-what-you-can approach from Heart-n-Soul. The menu includes turkey and gouda melts with slaw and chips, ham and provolone melts with slaw and chips, and a summer egg bake that is vegetarian and gluten free, paired with Mandt Market greens and Italian dressing. Dog Training Pack Walk

This structured pack walk is open to the public and centers on calm, neutral socialization while moving together with clear spacing and direction. It suits dogs working through reactivity or overstimulation, handlers who want stronger leash skills and engagement, and anyone who enjoys being around fellow dog owners. The group walks as a unit with dogs intentionally kept apart. There are no on-leash meet and greets or chaotic interactions, only steady, coordinated movement. Participants are expected to keep dogs leashed at all times, avoid on-leash greetings, maintain space between teams, and use non-retractable leashes. Limit participation to one dog per handler. Dogs must be current on rabies, Bordetella, and distemper vaccinations. Bring a standard 4 to 6 foot leash, the training tools you normally use, and water for yourself and your dog. If your dog struggles at times, that is acceptable. The walk provides a supportive setting to practice rather than avoid challenging moments. RSVP is required. Questions can be asked in the group.

Smart K9 Training

Channel tropical vibes in a beginner-friendly pottery class dedicated to crafting a monstera leaf bowl using slab-building techniques. Participants receive step by step guidance on shaping the leaf, carving its distinctive splits and curves, and forming it into a sculptural bowl that works for fruit, keys, jewelry, or as a striking accent on a table. Each piece is finished with a deep green glaze to highlight the leafy details, then kiln fired. Finished bowls will be ready for pickup in about 2 to 3 weeks. No pottery experience is required. Bring your hands and an appreciation for plants, even if keeping real ones alive is not your specialty.

A Taylor Swift inspired craft party filled with shimmer and sparkle. Create three keepsakes that celebrate the eras, including a candle personalized with friendship-style letter beads and favorite lyrics, a bag charm that highlights all 12 albums, and a magnetic Instax frame styled with showgirl-level glitz and sequins. Led by Unglued with All That Glitters, the experience includes all supplies and guided instruction so you can play, experiment, and still head home with finished pieces. This workshop welcomes teens through adults. Every attendee needs their own ticket. The setup is planned for the Craftatorium and can expand if needed. Refunds are available with at least 72 hours notice before the workshop begins. After that, refunds are not offered unless a waitlist can be used, but tickets may be transferred to another person. A minimum of eight participants is required, and if that number is not reached, attendees will be notified and refunded.

Ladies' Drop-In D&D Night

A drop-in Dungeons & Dragons night centered on women and femme-presenting players offers a welcoming setting for storytelling, adventure, and tabletop fun. Hosted by Swamp Witch Tabletop on the mezzanine at Front Street Taproom, it is designed for beginners and experienced players alike. No prior experience is needed, ready-to-play level 3 characters are provided, and simplified “D&D light” options help first-timers get started. Play uses the 2024 D&D rules with a touch of homebrew. Connect with fellow gamers, share stories, face down monsters, and roll some dice at a friendly table.

Weekly sessions feature a new theme shared through stories, songs, rhymes, flannel boards, and visits from special guests. Each session lasts about 45 minutes and is designed for children ages 3 to 6, and children of all ages are welcome.

RiverArts - July 8

RiverArts, a Moorhead Parks and Recreation summer series, turns Viking Ship Park along the Red River into a lively hub of music, art, food, and community. The Lesering Book Club focuses on The Saga of Gösta Berling by Selma Lagerlöf, a landmark Swedish epic from the first woman to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature. Selected by the Santiago chapter in Chile and illustrated by Valentina González, the theme considers how learning alongside strong peers can push creative growth, while emphasizing that the most meaningful rival is your earlier self. Morgan is an Addy Award-winning creator and founder of Studio Freshly whose shift from broadcasting and journalism to degrees in Public Relations and Graphic Design informs a strategic, energetic approach to visual storytelling. An organizer with the CreativeMornings Fargo team and co-owner of The Foundry photo studio, she champions the next generation of creators. Create a living, wall mounted plant piece with Simple Morea, a Fargo Street Fair vendor visiting from Wichita, Kansas. Participants will build an elegant plaque by mounting a live plant to a cedar board with sphagnum moss, learning techniques for care and maintenance along the way. River Paddling Excursion: Discover the Red River

Set out on a relaxed group paddle of the Red River with River Keepers, guided by a knowledgeable local who shares insights into the river’s past, its natural characteristics, everyday uses, and the wildlife that depends on it. The outing begins at Hjemkomst Landing. Participants check in, receive any needed equipment, and start with a brief overview of paddling fundamentals before heading out together. Pre-registration is required and space is limited to 20 vessels. The fee is $10 per person if you bring your own vessel or $15 per person with a rental, and rentals are available on a first come, first served basis. To receive a refund, notification is required two business days in advance. If weather postpones paddling, the backup is the following week. If the river is not an option, the plan shifts to a hike, with updates shared on the Facebook event page. Duck & Goose Calling Competitions

Fargo SCHEELS hosts five premier duck and goose calling contests in partnership with the annual Hunt Fest. The lineup includes youth divisions for duck and goose callers, both open to ages 16 and under with no entry fee. Ages 16 and up can compete in a two-person goose calling contest, a meat duck calling contest, and an open goose calling contest. Entry for the 16+ categories is $40, and competitors receive a $40 SCHEELS gift card at check-in.
