Cyanotype Workshop for Kids Age 6 – 12
Children ages 6 to 12 team up with a parent or guardian for a hands-on cyanotype workshop led by teaching artist Melissa Wilgis. Across three hours, participants explore a historic 1842 photographic method that uses sunlight or UV light to create rich Prussian blue prints. Kids connect art and science by experimenting with composition, positive and negative shapes, and how light interacts with light-sensitive materials. They craft their own blue-and-white images by arranging leaves, flowers, feathers, cutouts, and other small objects to form striking silhouettes. The process is non-toxic and all supplies are provided, and families may bring a few items from home to experiment with. Each guardian may accompany up to two children. The cost is $150 for one parent and one child, or $200 for one parent and two children.
