Magic Standard Showdown

Magic Standard Showdown features Standard format play with a $5 entry fee. Each entrant receives one Magic booster pack priced at $4.95 or less with entry. Prizes include packs and promotional items, and the amount awarded will depend on attendance.

2026 PARADE AND OPENING CEREMONIES

A season kickoff features a parade followed by opening ceremonies for the league. Teams and players are encouraged to take part, and players should arrive in uniform. Participants will gather at the facility entrance where a league board member will organize the lineup and order. Parents and fans can stand along both sides of the driveway to watch the parade. After the parade, players will enter the major league field from the third base side for a brief program that introduces each team and manager, features a special performance of the national anthem, includes pledges from players and parents, delivers an opening first pitch, and shares a few announcements. Parking is expected to be limited, so attendees are asked to use nearby parking areas, observe updated city no parking signs, and note that parking between the major league and machine fields is restricted to allow turnarounds for larger parade vehicles. Following the ceremony, one major league game and one minor league game are planned, and the concession stand will be open.

Mediterranean Longer Table Pop-Up Dinner

Live Oak Eastside hosts a one-night Mediterranean dinner created for unhurried conversation and connection. Reservations are sold by table for two or four guests and include a reserved seating time, a multi-course menu curated by Katherine Shearer, and a house-crafted mocktail selected during booking. The experience begins with crostini layered with slow-roasted cherry tomatoes, garlic, burrata, pesto, and a touch of balsamic, followed by roasted beets over whipped feta with a mandarin orange and arugula salad and toasted pepitas. A bright strawberry sorbet cleanses the palate before the main course of spiced chicken shawarma served over hummus with roasted red onion, zucchini, cherry tomatoes, and eggplant, plus rice and warm pita. A vegetarian option is available by request. Dessert features tiramisu made with Live Oak espresso, and decaffeinated coffee from Live Oak provides a smooth finish. When booking, guests choose their seating time, guest count, mocktail selections, and whether they prefer a table or side-by-side bar seating that offers a lively, social feel. Ten percent of proceeds will be donated to Foster Families NRC to support foster families. Seating times are fixed and begin promptly, and capacity is limited.

Trivia & Tenders Night!

Michigan on Main hosts a weekly trivia series with a fresh theme each time. This edition centers on Disney, Pixar, and animated favorites, inviting participants to put their knowledge of iconic characters and stories to the test. Unlimited chicken tenders are available, served with French fries and coleslaw for 16.99 plus tax. Michigan on Main is located within the Bavarian Inn Restaurant.

Midland Man Scouts

Created as a welcoming space for men to build camaraderie and a supportive social circle, this gathering focuses on conversation, goal-setting, and lighthearted competition. Each session, participants choose tasks to work on before the next meetup and later share how it went. Examples include writing a single sentence about daily life each day for two weeks or selecting a health habit to practice for a similar stretch, then reporting back to the group. Arm wrestling is the friendly contest, and members are encouraged to plan outings that benefit everyone. Sessions are facilitated by Eric Beasley, Ph.D. in sociology from Michigan State University, a longtime professor with interests that include improv, yoga, comedy, basketball, and guitar. The aim is to push back against loneliness through real connection, with plenty of chatting, bonding, and playful challenges. The cost is $8 each day. Little Midland Open Play - M, W, Th Weekly 🩵🧸

Open play takes place upstairs in the Ashman loft at Little Midland, a kid-sized city inspired by real Midland businesses. MTB Group Ride at Midland City Forest

Mountain bikers gather at Midland City Forest for a welcoming group ride where nobody gets left behind. An optional warmup on the new jump lines is available before the main ride. The meeting spot is the Chalet at the Monroe Rd lot inside the forest. Depending on turnout, riders may split into groups: a fast option around 10 to 12 mph with fewer stops, an adventure option about 8 to 10 mph with regular pauses, and a party pace that is slower and beginner friendly with frequent breaks. Most outings cover roughly 6 to 10 miles based on the group. If there are not enough participants for a fast group, riders can head out on their own and reconnect afterward. Party pace participants should be able to maintain at least 6 mph, and children must be accompanied by an adult. After the ride, bring a lawn chair and a favorite beverage to relax around the Chalet firepit. This ride does not include a cookout. Trailhead amenities include two porta potties, with one large enough for changing. There is no running water, so bring water and a helmet.

Historic Pub Crawl

Explore Midland’s past on the inaugural downtown history pub crawl at Midland Center for the Arts. The experience features theatrical storytelling at three local stops... Pizza Sam’s, WhichCraft Taproom, and 3 Bridges Distillery and Taproom. Hear about the Victorian-era opera house that once stood where Pizza Sam’s is now, along with other tales connected to familiar downtown locations. Each ticket includes one drink ticket for each of the three venues on the route, plus a one-topping slice of pizza at Pizza Sam’s. This is a walking tour between the three establishments and will take place rain or shine.

MidLab - Staffed Hours (Vck & Brian)

The MidLab is a makerspace where individuals 12 and older can engage in creative activities, learn new skills, and explore various technologies through both independent projects and organized classes. Registration is required to use the MidLab space. Staff will be available to provide guidance on using the equipment, which includes sewing machines, Cricuts, heat presses, computers, button makers, try-it kits, laser engravers, sublimation printers, 3D printers, embroidery machines, and serger sewing machines. Use of the equipment is on a first-come, first-served basis. A MidLab User Agreement must be signed to participate, and guardians must sign on behalf of minors aged 12-17.

Explore the art of resin and crushed glass in a creative, hands-on workshop that turns glass, fire glass, and stones into a sparkling piece you design. Select from multiple project options and a large selection of colors and textures, then build your artwork on a template approximately 10 to 12 inches at its longest dimension. All supplies are provided, and step-by-step instruction is offered throughout so newcomers feel comfortable from start to finish in an easygoing setting. World Ballet Company: Cinderella

Bird Walk

Spring migration brings fresh arrivals across CNC’s diverse habitats, which are home to more than 200 species of birds. Breath, Core, & Pelvic Floor: May/June 8-week yoga series

This 8 week yoga series at Midland Yoga Collective focuses on whole core care through a gentle, mindful practice for any body. Sessions cover proper deep breathing for core pressure regulation, building abdominal strength, releasing excess tension and unconscious gripping in the core and pelvic floor, calming the nervous system, understanding functional pelvic floor health, and improving hip mobility to support pelvic floor function. It may be especially supportive for those with hip or back pain, for rebuilding strength including postpartum, and for addressing pelvic floor dysfunction. This class does not provide medical advice, so participants are encouraged to consult their healthcare team. Expect a unique blend of functional mobility, soothing Body by Breath techniques, self myofascial massage using a YTU Coregeous ball and other therapy balls, and breath integrated Forrest Yoga and Yoga Tune Up core strengthening. Each week builds on the last with themes that include breath and core stacking, pelvic awareness and mobility, core strength foundations, hip mobility and strength to support the pelvic floor, obliques and lateral movement, mastering the hip hinge with foot connection, rotational core work, and a bonus session with guest pelvic floor therapist Sierra Miller, OTRL. Taught by Sarah Nelson, each class is 60 minutes and held in person only. The cost is $14 to drop in or you can use a class pass of 10 for $120 or 5 for $65. Pre registration is required and you can register and pay online or arrange payment by cash, check, or Venmo. Drop ins have a prerequisite, either having taken this series before or watching and practicing the introductory video. Completing all eight weeks is encouraged, although not required. Participants can expect to develop a more embodied understanding of their own bodies, improve breathing and movement habits, cultivate a core that is both strong and supple, and leave feeling centered and calmer.

This is an adult class, and youth ages nine and up may participate when accompanied by an adult. Herbert Dow's Garden Tours

Explore the legacy of Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow on a guided walk at Dow Gardens. The tour begins on the porch of The Pines and continues through the Estate Garden, with historical photographs and selections from letters and journals illuminating how the property looked when it was the Dow family residence. Expect to leave paved paths and cover about 1.5 miles on uneven ground. This experience is well suited to avid walkers and is not recommended for strollers, wagons, wheelchairs, or personal mobility devices. All banding, marking, and sampling activities are conducted under a state and federally authorized Bird Banding Permit issued by the U.S. Geological Survey Bird Banding Lab, and every bird is handled under the supervision of the authorized permit holders. Banding will not occur in rain or windy conditions. If the weather is uncertain, call the front office on the day of banding and check social media for updates. Admission is free. The program is suited for ages 5 and older, and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Funding for the Spring Bird Migration Bandathon is provided by Andy and Donna Rapp.

The roster includes Molly, owner of WHIP, along with Zoe DeMeester, Sam DeMeester, and Angelo DiCicco. The Poetry Society of Michigan presents its spring conference at the Castle Museum in the Morley Room. Liebler is a widely published Detroit poet, professor, literary arts advocate, and organizer. He received the Murray E. Jackson Scholar in the Arts Award at Wayne State University, has authored 15 books including Wide Awake in Someone Else’s Dream which won the Paterson Poetry Prize and the American Indie Book Award, served as the first Poet Laureate of St. Clair Shores, has shared his work across many countries and much of the United States, has taught at Wayne State since 1980, and founded The National Writer’s Voice Project in Detroit and Springfed Arts: Metro Detroit Writers Literary Arts Organization.

The 47th Annual Cinco de Mayo Festival features a community parade to start the day, followed by gates opening at Jolt Credit Union Event Park for an opening welcome and a full slate of activities. Alcohol sales conclude with a final call before the festival closes. Presented by La Unión Cívica Mexicana, a long-standing civic organization dedicated to community service, the festival showcases local Hispanic culture and highlights contributions to the diverse Great Lakes Bay Region. The organization also leads programs such as the Adelante Awards, Día de los Muertos and the Tamale Taste-off, and its Civica Kitchen supports these cultural efforts. This celebration focuses on heritage, ancestors and community contributions, and it is not Mexico’s Independence Day. In Saginaw, it stands among cherished regional traditions such as the Bavarian Festival, the Greek Festival, Kwanzaa and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Bay City. Inflatables and food vendors will be on site. Admission is a $5 cover at the gate. Blankets and lawn chairs are welcome at Jolt Credit Union Event Park. The residence preserves the Dow family’s collections, and knowledgeable docents share stories that connect each item to the people who lived there. Mas Blazing Bachata #102, Building the Fire

This bachata mini boot camp at InMotion Dance Academy builds on skills from the previous #101 session and is designed for dancers who already have some experience. The class begins with a wrap and a hammerlock variation, then links a smooth transition with a cheat step to form lively combinations. It concludes with a stylish dip that suits the rhythm of bachata. A partner is not required. Rotating partners is part of the format to support faster learning, and anyone who prefers to stay with one partner may do so. Enrollment is $50 per person. Youth Arts Festival

This two-day celebration of youth creativity features free, hands-on art making for all ages and highlights the talents of young artists across many forms. One day at the Temple Theatre will center on live theater performances and a student film screening, with further details to be announced. Jason Robert Brown’s poignant, two-character musical traces five years in the lives of two twenty-somethings in New York City as their relationship blossoms and unravels. Cathy shares her perspective in reverse, beginning at the end, while Jamie moves forward from the start, creating a mirrored storytelling arc that intersects only once at their wedding placed at the center of the piece. Originally produced for the New York stage by Arielle Tepper and Marty Bell, and first produced by Northlight Theatre in Chicago, this intimate work blends narrative ingenuity with a richly composed score.

Little Midland Open Play

Head upstairs to the Ashman loft at Little Midland for open play in a kid-sized city inspired by real businesses in Midland. Kat Mandu

Kat Mandu brings the music of Bob Seger to life with a tight, seasoned sound, performing in sync as if they have been together from the start. The group has connected with listeners across many settings, from a range of venues to frequent public appearances, and continues to draw fans from all walks of life. This engagement offers both lunch and dinner show options. Lunch shows are $63 per person and the dinner show is $70 per person, with pricing that includes the meal, tax, tip, and the performance. MidLab - DIY Hours

The MidLab is a makerspace for individuals ages 12 and up to create, learn, and explore. This session provides do-it-yourself hours for independent use; no staff will be present. Registration is required to use the MidLab space. After registering, go to the Reference desk on the main floor of the library for the daily door code. Patrons should clean up before leaving. Equipment includes sewing machines, Cricuts, a small heat press, computers, button makers, try-it kits, and more. MidLab computers provide access to Adobe Creative Suite, Canva Pro, Cricut Access, Glowforge Premium, Hatch Embroidery, and more. PRD Annual Fundraiser - We LOVE Saginaw

This annual fundraising evening in support of Downtown Saginaw features dinner with appetizers, one complimentary drink ticket, and a cash bar. Tickets are $75 per person or $500 for a table of eight. Live entertainment is provided by Jack Luna High Fidelity Entertainment, and activities include a photo booth and a Saginaw-themed trivia game. Attendees can also participate in a table decorating contest, plus a silent auction and raffle offering a range of items and experiences. Sip Me, Drink Me, A Wonderland Dinner

A whimsical Wonderland themed five course wine dinner created by the Bavarian Inn Culinary Team pairs imaginative dishes with curated selections from Black Star Farms. Guests are welcome to dress as favorite Wonderland characters and lean into the playful spirit of the evening. The menu opens with a garden inspired salad of arugula, radish, alfalfa sprouts, snap peas, and dandelion root with delicate blossoms and a wild violet vinaigrette, served with a warm lavender biscuit and matched with Gewürztraminer. A velvety carrot and ginger soup finished with crème fraîche and a spiced mini cake follows, paired with Pinot Noir Blanc. Next comes chamomile brined roasted chicken with a lemon thyme cream sauce over pistachio couscous dotted with rainbow carrots and finished with vegetable purée, complemented by Merlot. The fourth course features seared beef tenderloin with a red wine and black cherry reduction alongside roasted baby beets and golden heart potatoes, set against Cabernet Franc. Dessert brings a light, layered confection with a custardlike texture that seems to disappear bite by bite, poured with Late Harvest Riesling. Breath, Core, & Pelvic Floor: May/June 8-week yoga series

An 8-week in-person yoga series at Midland Yoga Collective explores comprehensive core and pelvic floor care with teacher Sarah Nelson. The practice focuses on skillful breathing to regulate pressure, strengthening the abdominals, easing excess tension and gripping through the core and pelvic floor, and calming the nervous system. It offers a gentle, attentive approach suited to many bodies and may be supportive for those experiencing hip or back discomfort, rebuilding strength including during the post‑partum period, or working with pelvic floor concerns. This class is not a substitute for medical care, so participants are encouraged to consult their healthcare team. Each session blends functional mobility, soothing Body by Breath techniques, self‑myofascial massage using a YTU Coregeous ball and other therapy balls, and breath‑integrated Forrest Yoga and Yoga Tune Up core work. Weekly topics build progressively and include areas such as Breath 101 with core alignment, pelvic awareness and mobility, foundational core strength, hip mobility and strength in support of pelvic floor function, oblique and lateral movement, hip hinge mechanics with foot connection, rotational core training, and a bonus session with guest co‑teacher pelvic floor therapist Sierra Miller, OTRL. Classes run 60 minutes and are offered in person only. To drop in for an individual class, a prerequisite applies. Participants must have completed this series before or work through the introductory video prior to attending a single session. Completing all eight weeks is encouraged but not required. Pricing options include a $14 drop‑in or class passes available as 10 classes for $120 or 5 classes for $65. Pitch Hit & Run

At Dow Diamond, a free nationwide baseball and softball program invites kids ages 7 to 14 to test their skills in three challenges. Participants pitch six times at a strike zone, hit from a stationary tee, and race from base to base against the clock. Competition is grouped by ages 7 to 8, 9 to 10, 11 to 12, and 13 to 14, with separate divisions for boys and girls. Age eligibility is based on how old participants are on November 15 of the current year. There is no cost to enter, and online registration is required before taking part. Competitors may complete their attempts at any point during the scheduled window, and winners will be notified after the event. If weather becomes an issue, the activities may be canceled and possibly rescheduled, and updates will be posted on signage at the field. Free parking is available in the Dow East End lot.

MI Concealed Pistol License Class in Saginaw, MI - 10AM to 7PM

Participants review firearm safety, proper handling and storage, the lawful use of force, and the laws and regulations that apply to carrying concealed firearms, including state-specific rules and application requirements for these permits. Young pinball fans ages 6 to 12 can dive into the basics in a friendly, skills-focused session. Instructors cover flipper control, smart shot choices, and how the machines work to build confidence and make play more fun. The first hour features hands-on demonstrations and guided practice, followed by a second hour of free play on select games. No coins are needed. The fee is $5 per child, and a parent or guardian must remain for the duration. Space is limited to six children. MidLab - Staffed Hours

The MidLab is a makerspace for individuals ages 12 and up to explore, learn, and create. Registration is required to use the space. Staff will be available to provide guidance with the equipment, which includes sewing machines, Cricuts, a small heat press, computers, button makers, and try-it kits. Staffed hours also include access to laser engravers, a sublimation printer, 3D printers, large heat presses, embroidery machines, and a serger sewing machine. Spring Play - Cheaper by the Dozen

A lively family story unfolds around Anne, a high school girl growing up in a very large household led by a pioneer of industrial efficiency. Determined to streamline life at home, Dad posts a chart for completed chores, uses a rung as a pretend bathtub to teach quicker bathing, and appoints a utilities officer to fine anyone who wastes electricity. The antics are often hilarious and often excruciating for Anne at school, especially in front of the boys, yet a more serious reason sits behind them as he quietly hides a heart condition. Misunderstandings build, Anne rebels, and both feel the strain until a tender moment of understanding shows how much she has grown. Tickets are $5 for students, $8 for adults, and $25 for families.

Solid Dish Soap Workshop May 14th@ 6:30pm

Discover the essentials of cold process soapmaking in a hands-on class that runs about 1.5 hours. Each participant creates 24 ounces of solid dish soap, including one jar with a brush and three refill portions, while receiving step-by-step guidance from an instructor with more than three decades of experience. Enrollment is capped at 8 to ensure personal attention, and everyone in attendance must have their own paid seat. Students take home a recipe sheet to recreate the project later. Participants must be 16 or older and will be asked to sign a waiver and hold harmless agreement at the workshop. For safety, wear long pants, closed toe shoes, and a long sleeve shirt. All other protective equipment is provided.

RED DAY

KW Preferred teams up with Habitat for Humanity for a Red Day volunteer effort in the Covenant Neighborhood. Participants can help build new homes, assist with site clean up, and support the construction teams. Two shifts are offered to suit different schedules. Blue Box Project – Hygiene Kit Build Day

After a community-wide collection of hygiene essentials for children and families in Bay, Arenac, Saginaw, and Huron counties, this hands-on build day will package those donations into kits ready to go to families in need. Volunteers will gather at CAN Council’s Bay City office to assemble the items for distribution. Two volunteer shifts are available, with capacity limited to 30 people per shift. All volunteers must complete a background check due to the nature of the work with children and families, and information about this process is provided during registration. Items that go into the kits include shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, and similar essentials.

Homeschool Aviation STEM Days

Designed for homeschoolers, this STEM Aviation Education Day offers interactive stations that highlight science, technology, engineering, and math topics related to space and aviation. The format is open house, and parents accompany their children as they move from station to station. 15th Annual Advocates for CHANGE Luncheon

It underscores that preventing domestic and sexual violence is not only about safety, it is a public health issue. Themes include creating safer homes, supporting healthier families, and strengthening the Saginaw community.

Funtown Chowdown Food Truck Festival

The Funtown Chowdown is an annual food truck festival. There will be themed events, special activities, entertainment, food, and specialty tap takeovers. Around 20 food trucks from across Michigan will be there with a variety of cuisine and desserts, plus live music, craft beer, non-alcoholic beverage sales, a designated handicap parking area, and activities for families. Each festival will have a theme such as Camping Chowdown, Bam! Pow! Food Truck WOW! Superheroes, Lei’d Back Luau, Color Splash Bash, or Disco Fever.

The goal is early detection, when treatment is most effective. Watch for signs such as any change in your skin, a sore that will not heal, a mole that looks different, or the appearance of a new mole, since even small changes are important and delaying care can be harmful. Tawas Area Birding - Register Today!

Experience peak spring migration at Tawas Point State Park with a full day of guided birding led by Interpretive Naturalist Michelle Fournier. Look for warblers, vireos, sparrows, hawks, bitterns, shorebirds and other seasonal visitors. Once in Tawas, most of the day will be spent birding on foot, with additional stops at nearby hotspots before the return trip. Transportation is provided in a CNC van. Plant Sale- Chemical City Garden Club Annual Fundraiser

This annual plant sale fundraiser from the Chemical City Garden Club takes place at Creative 360 and features a selection of plants gathered from members’ spring cleanups. Proceeds support community projects that include placing decorative flowers on more than 200 graves at Midland Municipal Cemetery, planting flowers at the Midland Post Office on Rodd Street, and a garden therapy effort with local students. Homemade cookies will be available, and gardeners with years of experience will be there to share advice and answer questions.

2026 Jeep Freedom Ride

This annual Jeep ride raises funds for mental health support for First Responders in memory of Deputy Keidel, a 16-year veteran of the Midland County Sheriff’s Department, by helping launch a college fund for his 4-year-old son. The schedule includes registration, a group ride, and a trail lunch, followed by the Patriot Patio Party at Tri City Brewing Company. The after party features brews, live music, and toasts that honor those who serve. Prize announcements, drawings, and raffles are included, with each ticket and giveaway supporting the cause. Proceeds support local veterans, turning every prize into meaningful help for those who have sacrificed.

2nd Annual Cars & Coffee

Grit Your Grief 5K Run/Walk

A 5K run and walk takes over the runway at MBS International Airport, hosted by The Children’s Grief Center of the Great Lakes Bay Region. All proceeds support the children and families served throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region. Registration includes an early bird option at $35 and a standard rate of $45. The 5K is a timed event, with runners heading out first and walkers following shortly after. Race shirts are guaranteed only for those who register by the early deadline, and later registrations receive shirts and medals as available. A separate color run for all ages adds a burst of fun on airport property, not on the runway, with a $20 registration. Participants must be registered to receive a T-shirt, and guarantees apply only by the early deadline. If shirts are unavailable, wearing a white shirt is encouraged. Savvy Soapers Club 2026 Session

Dive into a six-month soapmaking club where each meeting focuses on a new technique and you craft a 2-pound loaf that yields about nine full-size bars. The session fee of $300 covers all six gatherings and includes materials, setup, cleanup, and storage, so you can focus on creating. Capacity is limited to eight participants, and the first three to enroll can use code SS2625 for a $25 discount. Every attendee also takes home a silicone loaf mold and a crinkle cutter. Meetings take place on the third Saturday of each month. The curriculum starts with cold process fundamentals using a simple three-oil recipe, fragrance of your choice, and a three-color mica pencil line, plus a look at Castile soap and foaming face wash with a bottle to make and take. Go Topless Day Run!

This laid back Go Topless Day trail ride meets at Seven Slot Essentials and heads toward the Sterling Truck Trails, then continues wherever the trail leads. A drivers meeting is held before the group departs. Expect an easygoing pace, an open air experience, and a friendly, drama free atmosphere centered on enjoying the drive. ORV stickers are required. Open to all, including Jeep drivers and their friends, with no fixed destination and a go with the flow route.

Sultry Salsa #101, From the Beginning

Learn Salsa from the ground up in a focused three hour mini bootcamp at InMotion Dance Academy led by Chicago International and Detroit World Salsa Congress instructor El Barón Jed Walker. The session begins with fundamental and progressive basics, then moves into listening for the beats within a measure. Participants practice how to connect and communicate with a partner through body movement and a solid dance frame, applying everything to Salsa danced On1, also known as LA style. You will work on a right turn, a behind the back hand change with hairbrush styling, and the connector move, the cross body lead. These elements are then linked into smooth combinations to help your dancing flow, followed by a short routine you can use for practice and social dancing. No partner is required. Partners rotate throughout class to build confidence and give everyone time to try the material, with the option to remain with one partner if preferred. This training welcomes complete beginners as well as dancers with some experience who want to sharpen fundamentals, timing, partner connection, and early turn combinations. Wear shoes that slide safely on the floor, such as leather, smooth plastic, or suede, and choose a closed back or a heel strap to keep your foot secure. Avoid rubber soles, athletic shoes, and flip flops. Nicer casual clothing that breathes is recommended, and layers can help you stay comfortable. There will be a brief break, so consider bringing water and a light snack like fruit, cheese, or nuts. Space is limited, and enrollment is $50 per person.

Sing It Forward

The season’s final concert, Sing It Forward, spotlights the Saginaw Youth Choir in a showcase of choral works and small ensembles that honors their dedication, progress, and talent. The program pairs full choir selections with pieces from smaller groups to highlight individual voices and collective musicianship. Audiences will hear sweeping choral numbers alongside intimate ensemble moments, all centered on sharing music, building confidence, and supporting one another through song. The event also serves as a show of encouragement for the students as they “sing it forward” into the future.

Queer Social

At Lolobee’s Lounge, queer and 2SLGBTQ+ people and allies of every age gather to socialize and build connections in a relaxed setting. Board games will be available, and the TV will be set up for friendly play of Mario and Smash. The Asterix* aims to offer an affirming, welcoming environment for 2SLGBTQ+ folks, for community members who are too often systematically underrecognized, and for allies. The emphasis is on inclusion and creating space where all feel welcome.

Ladies Night

Enjoy a creative ladies night with a hands-on workshop dedicated to DIY self-care. Mix and make your own coffee sugar scrubs and a lip scrub in a friendly, social setting. Leave with one lip scrub and two sugar scrubs, each scented with fragrances you select.

Reiki 1 & 2 Training

This combined Reiki I and II training introduces the core principles and hands-on practices of Reiki, with guidance on how to support yourself, others, pets, and even plants. Instruction covers what Reiki is and how it can help, standard hand positions, giving treatments, developing intuitive awareness, working with Reiki symbols, techniques for distant healing, and the attunement process to strengthen your connection with Reiki energy. Participants receive the Reiki The Healing Touch first and second degree manual by William Lee Rand, a complimentary gift, and a Reiki I and II certificate upon completion. MidLab - Staffed Hours (Vck)

The MidLab is a makerspace for individuals 12 and older to explore, create, and learn through self-led sessions and hands-on classes. Registration is required to use the MidLab space. With staff present, you can use all of the equipment. Staff can provide guidance, but the makerspace emphasizes self-led learning. A variety of equipment is available, including sewing machines, Cricuts, heat presses, computers, button makers, try-it kits, laser engravers, sublimation printers, 3D printers, embroidery machines, and a serger sewing machine. Agreement to the MidLab User Agreement is required and guardian information must be provided for minors between 12-17 years of age. No children 11 and under are allowed in the MidLab.

This hands-on sewing class focuses on creating a padded sleeve sized for tablets, e-readers, or notebooks. Participants will learn techniques for working with Soft and Stable and installing snap closures while completing a quick, useful project that can be recreated for multiple devices.

2026 Dog Bowl King and Queen Contest

Pet lovers can put their four legged star in the spotlight in a contest to crown the Dog Bowl King or Queen. Entries are reviewed by hand and carefully selected, and each submission includes the pet’s story for consideration. After finalists are chosen, voting opens in store at Hello Cats and Dogs at River Place Shops as well as online, with winners selected ahead of the Dog Bowl festival. It is a free, two-day family festival that coincides with Balloons over Bavarian Inn, bringing daily contests and nighttime balloon glow moments to the Frankenmuth Credit Union Event Field near River Place Shops. Dogs are welcome, and all must remain on leashes. Browse a pet-focused vendor marketplace, register pups for races or lure coursing, and explore more than 40 shops and attractions at River Place Shops. All activities take place at River Place Shops, with free parking available around the Bavarian-style shopping complex. Spanning 25 acres of Bavarian Inn property, the layout offers ample room for guests and their canine companions.

Canine Cruise at the 2026 Dog Bowl

Set sail on a scenic Cass River tour during the Frankenmuth Dog Bowl aboard the Bavarian Belle, a historic paddleboat. Dogs are encouraged to come along, and each outing lasts about 45 minutes with narrated local history and plenty of opportunities for photos with your pup. Proceeds benefit Frankenmuth Dog Bowl Inc., a 501(c)(3) focused on promoting responsible pet ownership through educational programs and large-scale events for dogs and the people who care for them. Registration is limited to the first 75 participants per session, with one dog allowed per person, and Canine Cruise packages are nonrefundable. The Bavarian Belle also permits a limited number of pets on its regular cruises. While at the Dog Bowl, explore the pet-themed vendor marketplace, a costume contest, fun run dog races, and more than 40 shops and attractions at River Place Shops. All events take place at River Place Shops, where parking is free around the complex, and the grounds cover more than 25 acres so guests and canines have plenty of space.

Registration is required to use the MidLab space. These do-it-yourself hours are for independent use, and no staff will be present. After registering, visit the Reference Desk on the main floor of the library to obtain the daily door code. It is important not to open the door for other patrons, as they must also visit the Reference Desk. Please ensure the space is clean before leaving. Equipment in the MidLab operates on a first-come, first-served basis, and collaboration with others is encouraged. Available equipment includes sewing machines, Cricuts, a small heat press, computers, button makers, try-it kits, and more. The computers offer access to Adobe Creative Suite, Canva Pro, Cricut Access, Glowforge Premium, and Hatch Embroidery. Register for Staffed Hours to use larger equipment, such as laser engravers, a sublimation printer, 3D printers, large heat presses, embroidery machines, and a serger sewing machine.

"Relay" Short 0.5k Race

At The Red Keg Barrel House, this short race covers a 0.5K route along the community rail trail. Participants start with a half pint of Midland Brewing Company Dam Good Beer, follow the brief course, and finish with another half pint. A canned soft drink is available for those who prefer a non alcoholic option. A registration donation is required, with tiers at $25 and $30. Each registration includes one full pint, a souvenir pint glass, and a $5 gift card to Midland Brewing Company. All proceeds support the American Cancer Society. Registration must be completed individually for each participant. Alcoholic beverages are available only to participants 21 and older. Capacity is limited to 150 people. Mini Golf on Main turns Downtown Midland into an 18-hole course where participants of all ages can try their putting skills across greens set throughout the area. There is no cost to play. 2026 Panther Putt Golf Outing

Peace Lutheran School’s Panther Putt marks its 15th year at Apple Mountain Golf Course, offering a full day of 18 holes with friends, plenty of fun, and a dinosaur in the mix. Entry is $115 per golfer and includes a cart along with a continental breakfast, lunch at the turn, dinner, and refreshments. Foursomes can take on the course and enjoy extras like putting challenges, skins and pin contests, raffles, door prizes, and an air cannon tee shot, with a shotgun start planned for the outing. White Orthodontics brings back a community kickoff featuring the eighth annual free sports mouthguard clinic, a ball hockey tournament run by the GSAHA that requires advance registration, an open air market highlighting young entrepreneurs alongside specialty vendors, a variety of food trucks, appearances by the Saginaw Spirit mascots, and live music from Rusch Entertainment. Admission is free for families and supports young athletes, local small businesses, and households across the Saginaw community. Custom mouthguards from Mouthguard Club are offered at no charge during this event only. Receiving one involves completing a digital release and a quick in-office digital scan that takes about two minutes, and typical turnaround is about three weeks. Mouthguards are also available year round at cost for $35. Details on how to register for the ball hockey tournament will be shared by organizers when available. Vendor inquiries are welcome, and booth space is limited.

SAGINAW BLESSING OF THE BIKES AND BEEMER MEMORIAL RUN

You may try grinding corn, pumping water, writing with chalk on a slate, tending the garden, tilling the field, or helping to water the animals. This is a family friendly experience. A kids-focused celebration, supported by MyMichigan Health, transforms Dow Diamond into a lively playground of baseball fun. Throughout the game, the ZOOperstars bring their inflatable characters and comedy to the field. Reading Program Day, in partnership with Delta College, invites students who took part in the school reading program to redeem a complimentary lawn ticket and celebrate their accomplishment at the ballpark. Play Ball Weekend, with local support from Central Michigan University, offers youth participants a free game ticket, and the first 200 to arrive receive a Franklin bat and ball set. Children also enjoy a free hot dog meal and the chance to run the bases after the final out, courtesy of Serra Toyota Saginaw. A kids clinic is part of the festivities as well.

Saginaw Silver Screen: The Lion King

Disney's animated classic tells the story of Simba, a young lion heir who endures loss, grows through adversity, and ultimately returns to the Pride Lands to claim his place as king, celebrating the continuing cycle of life.

The Friction Theatre's The Drowsy Chaperone

At Midland Center for the Arts, The Friction Theatre presents The Drowsy Chaperone, a five-time Tony Award winner that affectionately celebrates classic musical theater. The story unfolds as an avid fan plays a beloved cast album and the show materializes in his living room, filling the space with old school romance, gangsters who tap dance, a merrily inebriated chaperone, and a flurry of theatrical hijinks. With catchy numbers and quick wit, this musical wrapped inside a comedy offers lighthearted escape. Presented in collaboration with Center Stage Theatre, it runs in repertory with A Midsummer Night's Dream, and tickets for each performance are sold separately.

2 Man - Cash Scramble at Sawmill GC

A two-person cash scramble at Sawmill Golf Club features a shotgun start and competitive on-course action. Prize payouts, based on a 24 team field, award $700 for first place, $420 for second, and $280 for third. Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive contests are part of the day, and an optional skins game is available for $20 per player. Teams are welcome to sign up together, and single golfers can be paired to form a team.

Food Giveaway

A community food giveaway will provide boxed groceries with both vehicle pickup and a walk-up option. A photo ID is required. Each vehicle is limited to two boxes. If picking up for more than one household in the same vehicle, every household must either be present or send written permission along with identification. If someone is collecting food on your behalf because you are working, homebound, or unable to attend, prepare a signed and dated note that authorizes the named person to pick up a box for your household and includes the number of people in your home and their ages. The note is valid only for the day of the distribution. The person picking up must also carry a copy of your photo ID, and a phone photo or photocopy is acceptable. When you arrive, follow the yard signs to text the posted number, then use the reply link to complete the sign-in form and acknowledge the instructions. Keep the confirmation on your phone or take a screenshot to show staff in the parking lot. If you do not use a smartphone, staff can assist with sign-in on a tablet. Please sign in only on the day it takes place, and sign in one time. Multiple submissions will not increase the amount of food provided. Prepare a clear space in your trunk or cargo area so staff can load boxes quickly. Open your trunk in advance or unlock a door, do not block driveways, and be ready to move if emergency vehicles need access. Thank you for your patience and cooperation, which helps everything run safely and efficiently.

Senior Rail Trail Golf Cart Rides

These golf cart rides along the Saginaw Valley Rail Trail are offered by the Saginaw County Parks and Recreation Commission so individuals with limited mobility can experience the trail. Each ride runs about 45 minutes, departs at the start of each hour, returns to the same starting point, and accommodates up to 10 passengers. To register, call 989-790-5280.

Plant Bingo at Coonan's Irish Hub - June 10

Plant Bingo brings a laid-back evening to the patio at Coonan's Irish Hub, with games, food, and drinks available. Attendees play five rounds plus a grand finale, with prizes for each round and opportunities to win houseplants and plant accessories. All participants leave with at least one new houseplant, and each person also receives a 20% off coupon for future in-store shopping at Regent Floral. Admission is $35 per person. Spend a full day discovering Ann Arbor’s history, culture, and natural beauty on a curated group trip. Wing Thing - Powered Paraglider Fly-In

A powered paraglider fly-in takes place at Midland Jack Barstow Airport, marking the first event of its kind at this airport. Between flying windows, there are nearby outdoor options to pass the time, including kayaking along the Tittabawassee River, bicycling on or off road, exploring the canopy walk at Dow Gardens, and enjoying outdoor dining on Main Street. Water fill and waste dumping are available at the Midland County Fairgrounds nearby.

Support Mitten Mutts Dog Rescue Thurs@5

Mitten Mutts Dog Rescue is the featured nonprofit at Drydock Beer Garden, with proceeds supporting their work. The rescue will receive a minimum $250 donation and 10 percent of all Drydock sales during the event. The beer garden is dog friendly, offering a relaxed place to enjoy a drink while contributing to a local cause.

Orchard Nights at the Back Orchard Barn

Settle into a relaxed evening among the trees with dinner, drinks, and live music, created for adults 18 and older. This installment features a meal by From Scratch Catering and Event Planning and a performance from Aaron Lee. After dinner, linger by the bonfire, share easy conversation, and enjoy the orchard setting. Tickets include all food and beverages. If the weather does not cooperate, the gathering will be held inside the barn. In the event of severe conditions, it may be postponed or cancelled for safety. Should that happen, ticket holders can move their reservation to another Orchard Nights date or receive store credit at Leaman’s Green Applebarn. Refunds are provided only if an event is fully cancelled and no alternate date is offered.

Kids Tree Climbing

At Dow Gardens, children take part in a rare outdoor adventure that leads them up into the trees. Participants use their own leg, core, and arm strength to climb with a moving-rope system. A trained specialist provides guidance, and helmets and child-size climbing harnesses are supplied. Designated procedures are in place to keep participants and staff safe. The cost is $22 per child. Space is limited, and reservations are required. Open to ages 8 to 14 at the time of participation. Minors must attend with an adult, with no charge for one chaperone. A waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian is required. This outdoor activity is subject to cancellation.

Tree Climbing for Adults and Teens

At Dow Gardens, adults and teens can try tree climbing in a guided outdoor experience. Climbers use their own strength to ascend into the trees with a moving rope system, while a trained specialist provides instruction, helmets, and properly fitted harnesses. Safety procedures are followed by all participants and staff. Participants must meet equipment fit requirements. The weight limit is 225 pounds, waist measurements must be between 30 and 42 inches, and helmets fit average adult heads measuring 47 to 55 centimeters. Participants must be at least 15 years old at the time of the activity, and minors must be accompanied by an adult. A signed waiver is necessary. The fee is $22 per person. Space is very limited, and reservations are required. Because this activity takes place outdoors, it may be canceled if conditions require it.

Commons Live Music Series – Klay N' The Mud

The Commons Live Music Series features Klay N’ The Mud in Downtown Midland’s Pedestrian Plaza, with the performance set at the stage where McDonald Street meets Main Street. Formed in early 2020, the trio of Klay Fennema, Kevin Turner, and Tyler Coeling built its reputation in the Grand Rapids scene by pairing original, story driven songs with crowd friendly covers. Influences include Matchbox Twenty, The Goo Goo Dolls, Collective Soul, and Guns N’ Roses, and their modern, melody focused sound moves across genres so the next tune is always a surprise. Attendees can bring their own chairs or use available outdoor tables, and can pick up food and drinks from nearby downtown restaurants while enjoying the music. The series is supported by the Downtown Development Authority and presented by Galloup Forberg Smith Merlo, with additional support from Jolt Credit Union and community sponsors 1st State Bank, Dow Credit Union, Oxygen Lounge, Poznak Dyer Kanar Schefsky Thompson PLC, Three Rivers Corporation, and Tri-Star Trust.

Take part in a focused two day Floriani embroidery workshop led by digitizer Trevor Conquergood. The program covers specialized techniques such as layered appliqué, bead look, chain stitch, cutwork, fringe, lace and plaid, along with additional methods to build your skills. Trevor demonstrates the process from an initial idea to a finished piece of embroidery. The fee is $79, and lunch, kits, prizes, giveaways and bonus goodies are provided.

Public Battle: Roethke

Experience tactical laser tag at Roethke Park that blends real-world teamwork with the feel of popular video games. Play draws inspiration from titles like Halo, Star Wars Battlefront, Call of Duty, Counter-Strike: GO, and Team Fortress II, bringing multi-environment operations, strategic action, and plenty of variety. Participants around age 6 through adults and grandparents are welcome. All equipment is provided for as many as 50 participants, so no personal gear is needed. This is an open pickup format, so individuals can jump in without a pre-formed group and meet new people. Cost is 25 for a three hour session. Game Passes and Season Passes will be available for purchase.

Grow & Give Back! Garden Volunteer Days

Garden Volunteer Days bring together beginners, green thumbs, and Master Gardeners to care for the SAM historic gardens and keep them healthy and beautiful. Lead Gardener Chrissy Cannon provides direction while participants learn new skills or share their knowledge alongside others. Each session lasts two hours, and it is possible to register for one or both. Registering ahead of time helps organizers prepare. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Cheese Haus Palooza celebrates all things cheese with tastings, a hands-on class, live entertainment, family activities, and special offers. Participants can join a charcuterie board class for a small fee and sample curated pairings through wine and cheese tastings, beer and cheese tastings, and a Michigan flavors and cheese tasting, each available for a small fee.
