RAD Springfield Community Bike Shop

RAD Springfield brings a mobile community bike shop to neighborhoods throughout Springfield, offering bicycle repair know-how and shared tool access. You can bring a bike for service or donate one, and technicians will refurbish and prepare it for resale or to return to the community. In many cases, bikes are provided free to residents who need transportation. Volunteers are welcome to learn how to fix bikes or contribute their skills, and the environment is multicultural, welcoming, and open to all ages. Walk-ins are welcome and no registration is required.

Print Making Series

Explore the fundamentals of printmaking in a guided series that starts with single-color prints and gradually advances to multi-color designs. Since each session builds on the last, plan to attend every class in the series. Advance registration is required.

Blackout Poetry

Designed for National Poetry Month, this session gives ages 10 to 17 the chance to experiment with blackout poetry. Participants transform printed book pages into visual poems by covering selected words to reveal a new piece of writing. Registration is required.

Stars on Ice

Stars on Ice spotlights America’s top figure skaters in a live show at MassMutual Center. Following a record-setting showing at the World Figure Skating Championships, where the team earned three titles across the four disciplines, the United States enters the Winter Games with strong momentum and medal hopes. The tour arrives shortly after the Olympics, offering a chance to celebrate that success on the ice.

MUSIC🎶 BINGO

Play a musical version of bingo where songs replace numbers, featuring a DJ courtesy of Good Thomas. It is free to participate, and winners receive Dugout Cafe gift certificates. Great food and drinks are available. Arriving early is recommended.

Riverside Pub Trivia Night!!

Riverside Pub hosts a trivia night with four rounds and two winners. The usual format includes general knowledge, media, and music, along with Hector’s Hits, a rotating wildcard category that changes each week. Themed editions are planned for future nights.

Annual Spring Concert

Marsh Memorial Chapel hosts a springtime concert featuring the Springfield College Community Chorus and the Springfield College Band, with additional performances by students from music studios across campus. Admission is free, and the event is open to members of the Springfield College community and the general public.

Sing With Me

Created for young children and their caregivers, this lively half-hour music time invites everyone to sing, clap, and stomp along to favorite children’s tunes. No registration is needed, simply drop in. During the warmer months, when it is at least 55 degrees, dry, and not too windy, the gathering moves to the lawn. Any emergency cancellations will be shared on Facebook.

Pretzel Jungle (Kids Series)

This spring kids yoga series invites young participants to build mindfulness, physical strength and flexibility, coordination, and creative expression over about eight weeks. Guided by Miss Lauren, the group practices cooperation and respectful sharing of space while also discovering the value of stillness and calm. The program is recommended for ages 7 to 10, with flexibility based on each child’s readiness. Registration is available at the Energy Exchange Desk or by calling (413) 610-2211.

Madeleine Peyroux

Madeleine Peyroux brings WE ARE AMERICA, a personal and resonant concert that honors the many voices shaping the nation’s musical heritage. The tour also marks two milestones, ten years since Secular Hymns and thirty years since Dreamland, and returns to the qualities that first set her apart... intimacy, storytelling, and a sense that each song speaks directly to the listener. Performing with longtime collaborators Barak Mori on bass and Jon Herington on guitar, the trio behind the 2016 Secular Hymns recording delivers a close-up, unvarnished sound where every detail feels alive. The program reaches across a century of American song, touching on Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Bessie Smith, Judy Collins, Allen Toussaint, Bob Dylan, and others, alongside Peyroux’s own originals chosen for their beauty and their reflections on hope, struggle, humor, and humanity. In this pared-back setting, her voice takes center stage, quiet yet luminous and richly expressive. Familiar songs are reimagined to reveal fresh layers of poetry and blues, creating a dialogue between past and present, artist and audience, and between the America remembered and the one still taking shape. Country Line Dance Sessions

An eight-week country line dance program at the Knights of Columbus welcomes dancers who enjoy moving to new patterns and are ready to learn something new. The series is $80 and open to adults and participants ages 11 and older. Expect to build skills week by week as you add new steps and prepare for future sessions. Pre-registration is required and walk-ins are not permitted. Sign up through the organizer’s website or by text message and include your name, email, and cellphone number. Payment is accepted by Venmo, CashApp, or check, with details provided upon request. Sessions are not discounted. If you miss a class, you may transfer it to another session at the same level. A Global Art Form, A Local Collector: Chinese Cloisonné and Asian Export Art

Explore how a centuries-old enamel technique became both a global art form and a cornerstone of local collecting in this lecture on Chinese cloisonné and related collecting histories. The program traces cloisonné from its beginnings in the Byzantine world to medieval Europe, then to China during the Yuan dynasty, where it developed into a refined practice that thrived for generations. It also considers the surge of Western demand in the 19th century and the expansion of George Walter Vincent Smith’s holdings, which by 1890 encompassed 150 works, including notable examples from the Ming period, often regarded as a golden age for enamel, and from the Qing dynasty. Presented by Sarah Zhang, M.A. student in Art History at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and Sophie Combs, Assistant Curator of Art at the Springfield Museums. Attendance is offered in person with same day ticketing at the Museums’ Welcome Center. Members are admitted free. Springfield residents and nonmembers are 4 dollars. Patio Fridays Teacher Appreciation Series

Nathan Bill’s and NUTRL present a weekly patio series honoring teachers and school staff. Each Friday features NUTRL samplings, drink specials, and a variety of prizes and giveaways. Educators who attend week after week can earn entries toward the Classroom Kickstart Grand Prize, which supports preparation for the 2026 to 2027 school year with help for supplies and funding. The kickoff also includes a chance to win a four pack of Red Sox tickets for a game against the Houston Astros.

Collage Workshop

The free collage workshop returns to Make-It with Springfield artist Donald Clark generously leading the sessions. Offered as a monthly community gift from Make-It, it takes place on the first Friday of each month and welcomes both newcomers and returning participants. Each workshop begins with a creative prompt, then participants use papers, fabric, and paste to create original images or designs. Most materials are supplied, and personal items may be brought to incorporate. No experience is required. During Make-It's open hours, visitors can also practice and explore with in-house materials at no charge.

Pioneer Valley Quilt Guild “Pieces of Time” Quilt Show!

At the Elks Lodge, the Pioneer Valley Quilters Guild presents a quilt show featuring more than 100 quilts. Explore vendor booths for quilting supplies and ideas, shop a boutique of handmade items, and take part in raffles that include a raffle quilt and over 20 baskets with a variety of prizes. The event welcomes experienced quilters and anyone who appreciates color, creativity, and craftsmanship.

Freedom Yoga, The Phoenix: Sober Community

At Heartsong Yoga Center, Freedom Yoga offers an all-levels slow flow led by Sheila Magalhaes, with support or occasional substitute instruction from volunteers with The Phoenix, a sober community. Designed to be welcoming to everyone, the class uses inclusive language, steady encouragement, and a trauma-sensitive approach. The practice focuses on calming the mind and nervous system while developing strength, balance, and flexibility throughout the body, mind, and heart. Sheila chose the name to reflect the open, spacious feel of the flow. Registration works a little differently because the instructor volunteers with The Phoenix. Participants can preregister through the studio schedule, use The Phoenix app and search for NewForm to find the relevant information, or set up an account on The Phoenix website. Walk-in registration is also available at the door. Creating a free account with The Phoenix provides access to these classes at Heartsong as well as a broad range of other offerings, from HIIT and rock climbing to meetups and meetings, available in person across the country and online.

Spring Gala 2026

Organized by the Community Music School of Springfield, this Spring Gala is the organization’s flagship fundraising celebration and the primary source of support for its financial aid and scholarship programs. The evening includes live music, cocktails and appetizers, a spirited auction, and music and stories shared by CMSS students and alumni.

May Quarter Auction

Foster Memorial Church hosts a Quarter Auction where attendees bid with quarters on items offered by vendors. The event also includes a raffle. Admission is $5 and covers two paddles, and a third paddle is free with the donation of a nonperishable food item for The Gray House food pantry. A portion of the proceeds benefits The Gray House in Springfield. Dinner options and snacks will be available for purchase. Attendees can bring quarters and friends for a fun night of bidding and prizes.

The Prom

A musical comedy about love, visibility, and change, this production follows four eccentric Broadway performers who head to a small town after hearing that a student is not allowed to bring her girlfriend to the prom. Their splashy activism puts a spotlight on the issue and on themselves, then helps the community move toward a dance that welcomes everyone. Recipient of the Drama Desk Award for Best Musical and adapted into a major Netflix film, the show blends humor, heart, and bold production numbers. Children’s Books in Bloom

At the historic Forest Park Monkey House, classic children’s books come to life as tiny, living landscapes. Organized by the Springfield Garden Club, this whimsical showcase presents 48 imaginative floral scenes inspired by favorite stories, from castle vignettes and woodland realms to familiar characters and adventures shaped with plants and flowers. Designed for all ages, the experience blends gardening, storytelling, and creativity in an immersive setting. Visitors can explore the displays, hear storytime readings presented by the designers, and join tours led by the Springfield Garden Club. Admission is free, and optional donations support a future Forest Park Kiddie Train. Parking is available behind the Monkey House. The exhibit also launches the community’s celebration of Children’s Book Week at area libraries.

Adaptive Music Pop Up Class For Disabled and Neurodivergent Children and Their Caregivers

A pop up adaptive music class from the Community Music School of Springfield offers disabled and neurodivergent children and their caregivers a welcoming space to make music together at the library. Participants will sing, move, play instruments, and respond to music in a setting with sensory supports. The session fosters connection between caregivers and children while nurturing skills such as self calming and focus, impulse control, language development, and motor coordination. Activities are planned with ages 3 to 7 in mind, and other ages can be accommodated. Instruction is led by CMSS faculty member Nora Cruz.

Square One Kentucky Derby Party 2026

An annual Kentucky Derby celebration returns to the Armory at MGM Springfield, benefiting the children and families served by Square One. Attendees can savor food and cocktails, take part in prize opportunities, and watch the race on a large screen with friends. Tickets are limited. Sponsorship opportunities are available.

Mawaga Sporting Club - Spring Fishing Derby

This spring fishing derby from Mawaga Sporting Club features a day of casting and friendly competition. Tickets are $20 per pole, and no fishing license is required. There is no limit on trout. This is a cash-only event and there is no ATM on site. Cash prizes are awarded for the biggest catch, and a raffle table offers extra chances to win. Please wait to set up until the gates are open. Lining up beforehand is allowed, but keep the gate clear as members will be arriving early to prepare. Breakfast and lunch will be available.

Volunteers will first gather at Veteran’s Memorial Park, where trash bags will be available, then fan out to tidy areas that need attention. Participants are encouraged to bring gloves, rakes, and any other helpful tools. Ludlow Cleanup Day

Organized with the town, this annual cleanup invites civic groups, friends, and neighbors to help spruce up Ludlow. Volunteers will gather at Veteran's Memorial Park to focus on areas around town that need extra care. Participants are encouraged to bring gloves and rakes, and to use trash bags while collecting litter and tidying shared spaces.

Bay Market Grand Opening

Bay Market marks its grand opening with a two-day kickoff that launches a biweekly series running through spring, summer, and fall. Some vendors are already confirmed, and booth pricing remains the same while new amenities are being added for vendors. The venue has been refreshed, with parking area updates and a thorough interior cleanout to create additional vendor spaces. The opening is expected to feature about 18 to 20 vendors, and future dates will follow the same setup.

Saturday Online Gaming Club

Meet new friends or bring your crew to hang out and play Roblox, Minecraft, and other games. Roblox players will need their own accounts. For Minecraft, bring a personal device or use one of the library's eight computers and, if needed, a library Minecraft account. Nintendo Switch users cannot crossplay with PC participants, but they can play together with other Switch users. This program is for ages 8 to 15. Registration is requested.

TuberCutting/Plant Sale

Six local flower farmers and enthusiasts will offer plant starts, tubers, cuttings, and selected merchandise, timed for planting season and Mother’s Day.

Noche Latina!

Noche Latina brings a lively night to The X-Room, hosted by Destiny Nations Royal. Performances feature Lady Tatiana, Leishla Thompson, Felicity V Lay, and Reyna Alize, while DJ Jayco spins salsa, bachata, merengue, and reggaeton to keep the dance floor moving.

The Life and Food of Fannie Farmer

Fannie Farmer and her Boston Cooking School Cook Book of 1896 are iconic figures in American culinary history and in the history of women in the workplace. This class will cover the childhood illness that affected her throughout her life, and her work as a teacher and food writer that led to her success. Samples and tastes are included.

Craft Fair & Multicultural Event

Mopar Expo Show & Swap Meet at Metro CDJR

Mopars In Motion celebrates its 46th anniversary with the Mopar Expo Show and Swap Meet at METRO Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. This enthusiast gathering combines a judged show with a marketplace for parts and memorabilia. Registration is on site upon arrival, and entries are welcome from all Mopar and AMC cars and trucks along with one class for non Mopar vehicles. The first 125 registered vehicles receive dash plaques. Seventeen classes award three trophies each, with additional honors for Best of Show and Officers’ Top Pick. Current Mopars In Motion members receive free showfield entry, non members pay $15, and spectators are admitted at no charge. The swap meet offers spaces priced at $25 per pickup length, with limited availability on a first come basis. Entertainment and amenities include a DJ, raffles, family friendly activities, Mopar Hotwheels Drag City racing, and a food truck serving breakfast and lunch. CODTOBERFEST - SPRING FLING ADDITION

After a community effort in 2023 to support local residents Kali and Joe Codding, this benefit renews that commitment at Vanished Valley Brewing Co. Since the previous fundraiser, Kali has faced a serious medical setback and is now awaiting a heart transplant. The gathering offers a way for the community to stand with the Codding family during a difficult time. Support through attendance or donation will make a meaningful difference. The event features live entertainment, raffles, and games.

RAD Springfield operates a mobile community bike shop that travels to neighborhoods across Springfield, offering bicycle repair education and open access to tools. Participants can bring bikes for repair or donate bicycles for refurbishment. Technicians restore and prepare donated bikes for resale or for community distribution, and in many cases free bicycles are provided to residents who need transportation. Volunteers are welcome to learn repair skills or contribute their experience in a friendly, multicultural environment open to all ages. This is a drop-in program with no registration required.

Chess Club

Spend an hour playing chess in a welcoming setting where beginners and seasoned players are both supported. Light instruction is available for anyone who would like tips or guidance. The club gathers every other Monday, providing regular opportunities to sharpen skills. Registration is requested, and participants ages 9 to 17 should register.

Weekly Improv Class-Spring Session

Explore improv in a six-week class created for adults. At the 4th Annual Fresh Start CORI Sealing and Expungement Clinic at the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, attendees can pick up a copy of their CORI and receive free guidance on sealing or expungement options. Mothers Day Sea Glass Windows @ Iron Duke Brewery in Ludlow MA Saturday May 9th 4pm-6pm

Create a custom sea glass window at Iron Duke Brewery in Ludlow, MA during a freestyle craft session. Design anything you like with access to nautical, spring, and pet themed stencils. All core materials are provided, including a prepped window, seashells, sand, colored glass, and additional accents, and you may bring personal items to include. Instructors provide step by step guidance throughout the process. Because the piece needs time to cure, finished works are picked up the following day. If inclement weather requires a change, the event may be rescheduled or canceled, and credits can be applied to the new date or to another Art Lab event at any location. Participants acknowledge that The Art Lab & Gallery is held harmless for injuries during class time on or off the premises. Leaders Lounge is a free, informal monthly meetup for nonprofit leaders and community builders, held on the second Thursday of each month. Hosted by United Way of Pioneer Valley’s Community Leadership Connect, it provides a comfortable space to exchange ideas, try out solutions, and learn about best practices. Wingman Dry-Tri for K9 Warriors

CrossFit Wingman hosts a team-based dry triathlon that supports K9s For Warriors, the nonprofit that provides trained service dogs to veterans facing PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and military sexual trauma. Proceeds after expenses are donated to this cause. The competition features an open division for teams of three. Each team covers 8,000 meters on the bike and 4,000 meters on the rower, sharing the work and switching athletes whenever they choose, then completes a 1 mile run together. The sequence is bike, row, run. Teammates must finish close together, and the time is recorded when the final runner crosses the line. Start waves go off every 30 minutes. Registration is $180 per team of three and the field is capped at 48 teams. Spectators are welcome to cheer, enjoy raffles and giveaways, connect with local sponsors, and soak up the community atmosphere. Organizers are also working to bring service dogs and trainers to the event.

Stimulus

Stimulus returns to The Break at Snooker’s Billiards with a night of classic rock. The club side sets the scene with a stage, dance floor, and light show, while the adjacent hall offers a dozen pool tables. Expect a full bar, cold drinks, and a food selection that covers hearty favorites. The event night menu features a crispy breaded chicken sandwich with cheddar, lettuce, tomato, and mayo served with chips and pickles, a seasoned chicken quesadilla layered with a trio of cheeses, enchilada and taco sauces, garlic, and scallions with pico de gallo and sour cream, and several burger choices ranging from a junior smash to an Angus cheeseburger to the Big Break with two patties and special sauce. Hot dogs are available in single, double, and chili-topped options. Bone in wings are offered by the piece with your choice of sauce, with a minimum order of six and a maximum of twelve. Shareable bites include chicken nuggets, chips with salsa or queso, mac and cheese bites, mozzarella sticks with marinara, onion rings, and salted pretzels with cheese and mustard. Rustic Sunday Strikes - May Tournament

Part of the Stern Army Tournament Series, Rustic Sunday Strikes at Rustic Brewing Company features a three-strike knockout pinball competition that welcomes both first-timers and experienced players. A brief introduction and warm-up is offered beforehand to explain the format, answer questions, and help newcomers feel comfortable on the games. Players are placed in groups of three or four. In four-player matches, third and fourth place each receive one strike, and in three-player matches only the last-place finisher receives a strike. Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser

The second annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser brings people together for a delicious meal while supporting a worthy cause. Look for raffle tickets, entertainment, and fun for all ages. 10 Steps to Researching the History of Your House

At Agawam Public Library, house historian Marian Pierre-Louis presents a step by step approach to exploring the story behind any home, whether a few decades old or two centuries in age. The session covers where to locate property deeds, how to follow a sequence of deeds, and how to use additional sources such as U.S. federal census records, maps, and tax lists. It emphasizes transforming documents into engaging narratives that illuminate the people and events connected to a house, offering ten clear starting points that suit newcomers and experienced researchers alike. Marian Pierre-Louis is an educator specializing in house history, southern New England genealogy, and historic cemetery research. With more than 25 years of experience, she has researched hundreds of properties across Massachusetts and New England. Her work includes contributions to The Stories Houses Tell, a collection of Little Compton [RI] house histories from 2015, and the 2022 volume A Second Collection of Little Compton House Histories. She also authored the Old House Secrets series in the Medway & Millis Local Town Pages and served for two years as a volunteer docent at the Fairbanks House, the oldest timber frame house in the United States. Her Northeast House Historian website offers resources for those interested in researching their homes. She is the Online Education Producer for Legacy Family Tree Webinars and hosts weekly live broadcasts, with more than 200 presentations delivered across the United States and online. Presented in partnership with the Agawam Public Library and the Agawam Historical Commission. Admission is free and the public is welcome. Registration is handled by the Agawam Public Library.

Springfield, Massachusetts welcomes a new tradition as the Sons & Daughters of Italy present the Holy Cannoli 5K and 2-Mile Walk, a spirited celebration of Italian-American culture and community woven into the heart of the Italian Feast. The route is fast and flat, welcoming both seasoned runners and casual walkers, and it winds through city streets before a finish line at the Feast grounds. Expect a festive atmosphere with live entertainment, awards and prizes, custom race shirts, and fresh cannoli waiting at the end. The event also raises awareness for Cooley’s Anemia, also known as Beta Thalassemia, adding meaningful purpose to every mile.

TeenScene: Combat, Comedy, and Cabaret Songs!

Teens spend a full week building a variety show revue, shaping material and sharpening performance skills. Participants explore sketch comedy, stage combat, comedy improv, scenes, monologues, and songs, with the option to concentrate on a single focus or sample several throughout the week. Choices include a stage combat intensive, musical theatre training and songs with Steve, writing scenes and sketches, or strengthening improv technique. The week concludes with a performance. Designed for ages 13 to 18. Faculty include Sena Yacteen, Amelia Hays-Rivest, and Steve Hays. Cost for the full-day program is $525.
