At Lure Seafood and Grille, the fifth annual Smoke and Oak dinner celebrates the craft of pairing smoked meats with finely made spirits. The evening highlights whiskey from Buffalo Trace Sazerac, with E.H. Taylor Small Batch Old Fashioneds available without limit and a tasting that includes E.H. Taylor Small Batch Bourbon, Single Barrel Bourbon, Straight Rye, Uncut and Unfiltered Bourbon, and Bottled in Bond (BTAC). The menu begins with welcoming skewers of Broadbent country ham wrapped melon with basil and Broadbent bacon wrapped dates. A first round of fried favorites follows, featuring smoked salmon and goat cheese arancini, a smoked jalapeño sausage cheddar grits cake, and a smokehouse fried oyster with bacon and corn. The salad course brings chopped pork belly burnt ends over mixed greens with apple and fennel, blue cheese, pecans, and an apple vinaigrette. Next comes a lemon pepper stuffed chicken wing that is smoked, fried, and finished in a spicy white barbecue sauce, served with a crispy loaded potato salad. The fourth course presents sous vide and smoked wagyu meatloaf topped with tomato gravy alongside slow cooked green beans. For the fifth course, Iberico pork arrives smoked and seared over charcoal with ditalini pasta and cheese prepared over the top. Organized by the University of Louisville’s Louisville Clinical and Translational Research Center in collaboration with the Aubrey's Song Foundation for Eating Disorders, this gathering brings together researchers, community leaders, advocates, and people with lived experience to examine how eating disorders affect individuals and families and to share ideas for stronger community responses. The focus is on closing the distance between academic findings and day to day realities, offering a welcoming setting to learn from experts while hearing directly from those whose lives have been touched by eating disorders.

This women-centered circle offers practical, body-based ways to settle the nervous system and return to real presence. Instead of apps or techniques that stay in the head, the session focuses on embodied grounding. Participants explore four pathways to steadiness, including a Four Directions centering practice that works with length, width, depth, and what matters to you, sensing the feet and gravity so the ground can hold you, visually orienting to the room to cue safety, and bringing attention to the often overlooked back body. You will leave with a personal menu of grounding practices that your own system responds to when life feels overwhelming. It is designed for those who feel constantly braced, cannot fully settle even with rest, experience racing thoughts, want a reliable skill for moments of overload, and are ready to reconnect with the whole body. Memorial Day - Run to Remember 5K: Run, Ruck, Walk

She’s the V.E.T. focuses on serving, honoring, and elevating female veterans across generations. In that spirit, a remembrance 5K returns to downtown Owensboro to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice. The route is a 3.1 mile out and back, and participants may walk, ruck, or run at their own pace. A Mayor’s Mile walk and a Kids Fun Run are also planned. T‑shirts are available for run and walk participants, commemorative ruck patches are offered for the ruck division, and medals recognize top finishers by age group. The emphasis is on community reflection and remembrance. Lace up, move with purpose, and take part in a tribute to the cost of freedom.

John Showman and Chris Coole take the stage at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum with music shaped by a long partnership that includes thousands of performances together in The Foggy Hogtown Boys and The Lonesome Ace Stringband. Their sound lives at the edges of old-time, bluegrass, and folk, blending songs tied to John Hartford, Hank Williams, Dock Boggs, and The Band with fiddle tunes associated with Eck Robertson and Ed Haley. Original pieces draw on these traditions to create something personal and current. Their touring has carried them across North America and Europe, with festival appearances at Merlefest, Rockygrass, Winnipeg Folk Festival, Mariposa, Wintergrass, Gooikroots, and the John Hartford Memorial Festival. Recordings include Afield, a collection of old-time fiddle tunes, and Much Further Out than Inevitable, a tribute to some of John Hartford's music. They continue to release new singles and videos, collected for a CD and vinyl project titled Big Wing.

The exhibitor hall spans more than half of the first floor with over 70 artists and vendors, plus a swag section and a charity raffle. Outside, boffer LARP activities take place on the front lawn. A spacious tabletop zone hosts board games and trading card game tournaments, and a dedicated chibi room welcomes young fans.
