Financial Literacy Event for youth!

A hands-on financial literacy event for young people ages 17 to 24, presented by the office of Representative Barbara Hernandez, the City of Aurora, The Neighbor Project, and the Financial Empowerment Center. Participants learn how to budget, use credit cards wisely, start building credit safely, and navigate banks and other financial tools with confidence. At the Richard & Gina Santori Aurora Public Library, the PRISM peer group presents Colorful Conversations, a hands-on session focused on creativity and connection. While working on projects, attendees take part in thoughtful, colorful conversations in a supportive setting. PRISM stands for Peers Respecting Individuality, Sexuality, and Mentality. Created by the Aurora LGBTQ+ Advisory in January 2023, this LGBTQ+ adult peer group offers a safe, confidential space for Aurora residents and nearby neighbors to build friendships, share experiences, check in with one another, and express themselves without judgment. Homeschool Ninja Classes at Ultimate Ninjas Academy! Ages 6-9

Designed exclusively for homeschool families, this Junior Ninjas session welcomes children ages 6 to 9 for a 50 minute class that begins with a warm up and then moves into coached obstacle challenges and course work. Participants take on bigger skills with guidance from an adult or coach, exploring elements like monkey bars, trapeze bars, a rock wall, a warped wall, rings, and laches, along with many more kid sized versions of obstacles similar to those seen on TV. No prior obstacle experience is required. Building on concepts introduced in Lil Ninjas, the class advances to more complex movements and places a growing emphasis on technique and overall ninja skills. Instructors introduce new goals, challenges, and course layouts each week so students progress safely, build strong fundamentals, and have fun along the way.

The Wheatlands Fun Fair

A community fun fair will celebrate The Wheatlands’ 25th anniversary with games, live entertainment, food, prizes, and raffle baskets. Children who plan to play games will need a wristband. Each wristband includes 10 tickets redeemable for games and raffle entries, and pre-orders include a special anniversary goodie bag. Wristbands are free for PTO members and $15 per child for nonmembers. Pre-ordering is available for wristbands and extra tickets, and families purchasing multiple wristbands may save by joining the PTO.

Family Volunteer Event - Community Clean Up

This family volunteer event takes place outdoors and focuses on caring for a local prairie and the planet. Activities include learning about prairie habitats, planting, pitching in on river cleanup, and discussing how organizations such as The Conservation Foundation support everyday stewardship. Children witness teamwork as families work side by side. Connecting with nature offers a simple boost to well-being, and this hands-on experience brings that feeling to life.

Maplebrook Funfest 2026

An annual carnival-style fundraiser and the biggest Home & School event of the year brings a festive mix of inflatables, games, entertainment, food, raffles, face painting and hair glam, Wiley’s Walk for Cakes, treasure jars, music, and plenty of fun. All activities and concessions use tickets, and buying in advance is recommended to access early-bird discounts and reduce time spent in payment lines. Community support is welcome through volunteering during the event, donating items or cakes, and partnering as a sponsor to benefit the Maplebrook Home & School Association, with opportunities available for both businesses and individuals. Donations of small trinkets are also being collected to fill Treasure Jars, such as party favors, squishies, kids’ meal toys, stickers, fidgets, or other similar items in good condition that are not broken or heavily used. First Friday: Community Art Project

iPop brings a high-energy night of live music to Two Brothers Roundhouse. Active since the mid-2000s, the band has entertained crowds throughout the Midwest at corporate events, weddings, sporting events, private parties, festivals, and on stages large and small, with appearances at Soldier Field and the United Center as well as Chicago street festivals and neighborhood bars. Their set pulls from seven decades of hits, blending Top 40, classic rock, country, hip hop, and favorite throwbacks from the 80s and 90s. The show welcomes all ages, and the cover is $10.

Mental Health First Aid Training.

Mental Health First Aid training builds practical skills to spot, understand, and help with signs of mental health and substance use challenges in adults. This free, full day course is presented in partnership with Cicero Family Service and takes place at State Rep Barbara Hernandez's office. Choose to pour a 12 oz candle in a ceramic vessel or make a seven-pack of wax melts in your preferred scent. If you opt for the candle, you will also take home a 4 oz mini glass jar that fits inside the ceramic vessel as a refill. More than 30 fragrance options are available, and participants may blend a custom scent. All tools, supplies, and equipment are provided. 7th Annual A Pint For Kim Blood Drive & Life Saving Festival

Now in its seventh year, this life saving blood drive pairs with a free, family friendly festival at Naperville North High School. The day features a parking lot celebration with a car show featuring The Hamilton Collection, plenty of free inflatable games and activities, free face painting and caricature drawings, a bracelet making station, food trucks, and live music that concludes with Sparks Fly, a Taylor Swift cover band that sold out Naper Nights. Blood donors and volunteers are eligible for a thank you drawing with prizes totaling tens of thousands of dollars. Blood donor swag bags return with even more goodies. No tickets are sold, since the goal is to save lives. Promoted as Illinois' largest single day blood drive alongside the region's largest free festival for families, it brings together giving, entertainment, and community spirit.

Scout Swim Test / Mile Swim

At Vaughn Aquatic Center, this session provides the required Scouting swim test focused on safety and swimmer classification, along with an optional Mile Swim for those who qualify. The basic test is mandatory for all youth and adults before participating in water activities. It includes a safety component and a classification swim in which participants enter deep water with a feet-first jump, surface and level out, then swim 75 yards continuously using a strong stroke such as breaststroke, front crawl, or sidestroke. Without stopping, they add 25 yards on an easy backstroke for a total of 100 yards, followed by floating in place for at least one minute. Completing these steps earns Swimmer status, which grants eligibility for all open-water activities. Experienced swimmers who have passed the basic test may attempt the Mile Swim, a rigorous endurance challenge that can lead to the official Mile Swim BSA Award. It is often a goal for older Scouts working on the Personal Fitness merit badge or aiming for a substantial fitness milestone.

The Pete Ellman Big Band teams up with West Aurora High School’s two bands for an evening of jazz at The Venue in downtown Aurora, IL. Formed in 2009 after Pete Ellman retired from the Illinois Air National Guard, the ensemble regularly welcomes student jazz groups and brings in guest clinicians to give young musicians real world performance experience beyond school auditoriums. The band has also organized fundraisers supporting local organizations such as Loaves & Fishes, Toys for Tots, Kids Matter, Kidz Cabaret, Youth Symphony of DuPage, the Naperville Educational Foundation, and the Gil Ellman Memorial Fund. At Edward Hospital in Naperville, this hands-on Spinning Babies workshop offers a fresh look at childbirth by focusing on fetal rotation and the often overlooked physiology of birth. Participants learn practical ways to increase comfort in pregnancy and support smoother labor, recognize challenges earlier, and apply gentle strategies that may help shorten prolonged labor, reduce the likelihood of cesarean, and address malposition and labor dystocia with less force. The framework of Three Principles, Three Balances, and Three Levels Solutions uses baby’s position and physiological techniques to influence the effective dimensions of the pelvis through the body’s own capacity to resolve or prevent dystocia. Designed for professionals who care for people during pregnancy and birth, it welcomes midwives, nurses, nurse practitioners, doulas, childbirth educators, obstetricians, family physicians, prenatal yoga instructors, chiropractors, acupuncturists, massage therapists, perinatal case managers, and community health workers. It suits both those new to Spinning Babies and those with years of experience. Nursing Continuing Professional Development is available through ANCC for 7 contact hours, and the American Academy of Family Physicians grants 7.0 elective CME credits. Many doula and childbirth education organizations accept these hours according to their policies. Lunch is not provided. Comfortable clothing is recommended, and bringing a pillow, a flat sheet, and a yoga mat is helpful if available. The trainer, Tammy Ryan, has supported births since 2002 and is one of a small number of Spinning Babies trainers worldwide. Naper Pride 5th Annual Health & Resource Fair

Naper Pride’s fifth annual health and resource fair welcomes everyone and focuses on connecting the community with practical support and care. Summer Camp at Ultimate Ninjas Academy: Superhero Week! Ages 4–9

Superhero Week at Ultimate Ninjas Academy offers an active summer camp experience for children ages 4 to 9, with both half day and full day options. All participants must be potty independent. Each session blends obstacle challenges, fitness games, arts and crafts, and plenty of playful ninja action. Camp days are structured to keep kids moving while including short breaks to recharge. Morning and afternoon sessions feature different courses, crafts, and games, giving campers fresh activities in each session. Children can take on kid sized versions of popular obstacles such as monkey bars, trapeze bars, climbing walls, and the warped wall. Half day camps are available in the morning from Tuesday through Friday and in the afternoon from Monday through Thursday. Full day camps are offered Tuesday through Thursday. Single day pricing is $50 for a half day and $90 for a full day. Discounted punch passes are available, including a half day 3 pack for $135, a half day 6 pack for $240, a full day 3 pack for $225, and a full day 6 pack for $430. Families should send a nut free snack for the morning session, a lunch, and a nut free snack for the afternoon session, as there are multiple opportunities to eat during the day. Pride At The Plaza 2026

Now in its third year, Pride at the Plaza returns with a larger footprint and a vibrant celebration of love, diversity, and community. Organized by the City of Aurora LGBTQ Advisory Board, this inclusive gathering takes place at Millennium Plaza.

Run Your Mutt Off 5K 🏃🐾

Take part in a dog-friendly 5K that benefits the Naperville Area Humane Society. The event begins with an optional 3.1 mile walk or run, followed by a celebration with light refreshments, vendor activities, raffles, giveaway items, and fun for families and their pups. Look for a treat bar presented by Two Bostons, live music from Brad Yeoman, a canine agility course, and plenty of swag for both people and dogs. Every registration directly supports the dogs and cats cared for by the Naperville Area Humane Society all year. Participants can also set up solo or team fundraising pages to raise additional support, with prizes for top fundraisers. Pricing is $30 per person or $35 on the day of the event, $20 for ages 5 to 12 or $25 on the day of the event, and children 4 and under are free. The gathering takes place at St James Farm Forest Preserve. Sponsorship and vendor opportunities are available for businesses that want to help make a difference for homeless animals.

Music on the Farm

Music on the Farm offers a free, family friendly music experience at McDonald Farm. Bring lawn chairs and your own drinks, settle in, and enjoy live sounds with pastoral views. This installment features the Bree Gordon Band, with Fernando’s Street Kitchen and Sno Problems on site. If the forecast points to poor conditions or setup would be unsafe, the event will be canceled, and any lightning or thunder during the performance will also end it. Cancellation updates will appear on Facebook and the website as quickly as possible, and a sign at the driveway will indicate when the event is canceled. Pride Celebration for Introverts 2026

PRISM hosts a Coffee and CommuniTEA gathering for pride month created with introverts, reserved queer folks and those who experience social anxiety in mind. Set within a back room at Society 57, this calm, sensory friendly space offers an alternative way to observe Pride or a comfortable place to recharge during the Aurora Pride Parade. Expect a relaxed room where you can take a breather, color, reflect and celebrate at your own pace. Pride merchandise, sensory items, coloring supplies and simple activities will be available. The space is designated as a queer safe space.

Family STEM Nights: Garden 101

Dig into the basics of gardening during a hands-on family STEM experience that introduces young learners to the science beneath the soil. Explore the gardens and greenspaces at Naper Settlement, discover how plants grow, and start corn, beans, and squash seeds to take home and to plant in the Permaculture Garden. Designed for children ages 5 to 11 with a caretaker. The cost is $8 per person.

Fairytale Wedding - June 26

An enchanting evening at Blackberry Farm celebrates the wedding of Princess Tiana White and Prince Naveen. The Fairy Godmother leads a brief ceremony at the Performance Pavilion with bridesmaids Belle, Ariel, Aurora, and Cinderella by their side. After the ceremony, attendees can enjoy a catered meal, a DJ leading the dancing with the couple and their bridesmaids, and time on the rides at Blackberry Farm. Tickets are released first to season pass holders, then to the general public. Everyone age 1 and older, including adults, needs a ticket, and all sales are final. For valid entry, buy only through the Fox Valley Park District sales system, as tickets from resellers or private individuals cannot be guaranteed.

Pour Your Own Epoxy™ (July 15th at Noon Whistle Brewing Co., Naperville, IL)

Create a custom epoxy river piece in a guided, hands-on workshop at Noon Whistle Brewing. Choose your project at the start, whether a charcuterie board, lazy susan, clock, key holder shelf, coasters, or a mini pair. Work with black walnut and other select hardwoods, and personalize your design by picking up to two epoxy colors on site. After the session, each piece cures for about a week, then goes through a careful finishing process that typically takes 8 to 10 weeks, with the timeline varying by class size and shipping. Finished projects are shipped to participants so creations arrive in excellent condition. All ticket sales are final. If attendance is not possible, another person may come in your place. Every attendee age 12 or older needs a ticket, and a couples ticket allows two people to collaborate on a single project.
