20th Annual 'Let's Dance' Big Band Weekend

Fans of live swing, latin, waltz, and foxtrot can look forward to a couple-friendly big band weekend featuring three bands and three themed dances. Presented by Just Make It Happen, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit recognized as a “Go To” organization by American Profile magazine for four years, the event highlights classic variety in an elegant setting. Expect ensembles ranging from 8 to 17 musicians with one or two vocalists, drawing on Chicago, Midwest, and national big band traditions. The music evokes timeless favorites such as In the Mood, Fly Me to the Moon, Take the A Train, Moon River, Sway, and Sing, Sing, Sing, celebrating more than a century of American ballroom, stage, and film music performed live with care for sound quality and the social dance floor. Held at Northern Illinois University in the Duke Ellington Ballroom, the experience centers on a smooth 13,000-square-foot wood floor and controlled acoustics. The space is fully accessible and avoids flashing lights.
