Mama's Broke

Mama’s Broke brings an adventurous, roots-driven sound to the Englert, blending old-time, Quebecois, blues, punk, Celtic, Balkan and even doom metal influences into original songs that feel both mesmerizing and full of momentum. The duo of Amy Lou Keeler and Lisa Maria share a striking musical chemistry, moving with ease from haunting a cappella harmonies to fiery fiddle and banjo pieces accented by foot percussion and propulsive guitar. Their debut, Count the Wicked, earned a Canadian Folk Music Award for Ensemble of the Year along with an ECMA Rising Star nomination. The follow up, Narrow Line on Free Dirt Records, garnered features from outlets such as The Bluegrass Situation, Hollar Country, No Depression and Folk Radio UK, and it appeared on a playlist curated by NPR’s Bob Boilen. Narrow Line also received nominations for a Canadian Folk Music Award for vocal group of the year and a Juno for Best Traditional Roots Album. Years of near-constant touring have built a devoted audience across North America, Europe and the UK, with performances ranging from international folk festivals and opera houses to DIY spaces and activist gatherings. Along the way, they have shared stages with Nick Shoulders, Sierra Ferrell, Tim Eriksen and La Vent du Nord, and co-headlined with Matt Heckler, Willi Carlisle and Rufus Nightjar. The Wellness Way Approach to Gut Health: Stop Guessing, Start Healing

Struggling with bloating, IBS, fatigue, or stubborn digestive issues can feel isolating, yet many people face similar challenges. More than 70 percent of Americans experience gut problems, and they are often told the cause is unclear, to simply manage symptoms, or that nothing more can be done. This free workshop with Dr. Tyler offers a different path, focusing on moving beyond guesswork and toward real healing. Attendees will explore why conditions like IBS, bloating, and reflux are so widespread, the common mistakes people make when trying to fix their gut, and why conventional approaches can fall short of providing clear answers. The session explains underlying drivers of digestive problems and outlines how to begin addressing the gut the right way without guessing. It is especially relevant for anyone who feels bloated after meals, even with healthy foods, deals with IBS, constipation, diarrhea, or reflux, struggles with fatigue, brain fog, or skin concerns, has tried diets, supplements, or medications without lasting results, and wants solutions that go beyond temporary fixes.

Samantha Fish

At The Englert Theatre, Samantha Fish brings the Paper Doll World Tour, spotlighting a hard-hitting guitar style and a voice that blends power with vulnerability. The Grammy-nominated artist behind Death Wish Blues with Jesse Dayton has built a reputation as a multi-award-winning festival headliner, and her latest chapter centers on Paper Doll, a new album recorded with her road band and produced by Bobby Harlow. These nine songs carry a fierce, independent streak and were shaped while touring, giving them a living pulse suited for the stage. The music threads hypnotic Hill Country blues flavors through rock, soul, and pop, shifting from cathartic, high-energy blasts to slow-burning, reflective moods. Crafted with live performance in mind, the set showcases big guitar moments, soulful vocals, and songwriting that leans into clarity, conviction, and story.

Alice Martin - Westward Women

Alice Martin will read from her debut novel, Westward Women, a mesmerizing and hopeful story that blends dreamlike intensity with a dystopian road journey and a breathtaking finale. Early acclaim positions the book with bold company, as Joyce Carol Oates compares its audacity to work by Margaret Atwood. Anna North, author of Outlawed, praises its tight, surprising fusion of Western and zombie thriller and its clear warning about what can happen when women’s bodies and desires are pushed to the margins, noting twists and an alternate history that feels urgent today. Martin is a writer and teacher from North Carolina with a PhD in Literature from Rutgers University.
