Mulligans on the BlueWilliam Shakespeare's Long Lost First Play (abridged)
Maui OnStage presents the second show of its season with William Shakespeare’s Long Lost First Play (abridged), a quick-witted comedy by Reed Martin and Austin Tichenor, first produced by the Reduced Shakespeare Company and directed here by Kristi Scott. The production is staged at the Historic Iao Theater in Wailuku. The story plays with the notion of a youthful Shakespeare manuscript allegedly discovered in a Leicester parking lot, then whirls together many of his iconic characters and familiar lines into one new caper. The mythical source is jokingly described as 100 hours long, distilled here into an approximately 90 minute performance. The show has earned praise from outlets such as the New York Times and the Washington Post for its irreverent humor and wordplay, with additional kudos from Ken Ludwig and the Napa Valley Register for its lively blend of Shakespearean favorites. Tickets are priced from $10 to $45. Content guidance notes comic scuffles, mild innuendo, bawdy humor, and a few rude words, with a recommendation for ages 10 to 13 and up at parental discretion. A further heads-up for the front row... audience members in Row A, seats 13 through 25, are in a Splash Zone and may experience a brief spray during a spirited water moment.

Marking a decade of community, this Back to School Bash centers on the everyday items that help keiki feel confident and ready to learn. The focus is on hygiene products, new underwear, shoes, and other essential supplies, with giveaways from community partners and the usual gently used areas available. There is no backpack drive this year, and families seeking backpacks can look to other distributions across Maui County, with details shared on social media. Children must be present and select items for themselves, and caregivers may not enter the new items area without the child they are shopping for. Entertainment will be available for keiki while parents wait in line or browse the gently used sections. To keep things running smoothly, donations are not accepted on the day of the event. Gently used items can be dropped at the event site during designated windows, and new, unused items can be delivered to sponsor locations during regular business hours. Community support helps reduce barriers to education for local keiki.
