Full Flower Moon Paddle

Witness the scenic sunset and full moon rising over the lake. This event requires a kayak and canoe reservation, but the boats are free, though limited. Teachers and nurses are especially welcome to join a Sunset and Full Moon Paddle on Banks Lake. Perhaps bats will even make an appearance. Gather at 7:15 PM, launch at 7:45 PM, with moonrise at 8:30 PM, sunset at 8:11 PM, and the event ending at 9:15 PM. Bring your own canoe or kayak, or utilize the free boat rentals. Remember to bring a personal flotation device, paddles, a whistle, water, warm clothes, and a first aid kit. Cleanup is part of the event, so bring trash pickers and bags, and follow Leave No Trace principles. Safety requires being on time and wearing a PFD. A light is also needed for your boat or yourself, and avoid shining bright lights in peoples eyes. The outing is free for WWALS members, and $10 for non-members.

VSU Alumni Porch Fest

The first VSU Alumni Porch Fest features live music on the porch of the alumni house. This family friendly gathering is open to alumni and friends and centers on good tunes and community spirit. Additional event information will be provided soon.

Movie Night-Encanto

Encanto will be shown at Unity Park Amphitheater as part of Cruisin’ Into the Movies, a free movie series in Downtown Valdosta. The night begins with an open car show at dusk, and the film starts after dark. Attendees can bring lawn chairs and enjoy time with family and friends at this outdoor screening. Visitors can also explore downtown dining and shopping before or after the show.

The Amazing Scaventure

Set out on a fast paced scavenger adventure that begins and ends at New Covenant Church and takes teams across Valdosta. Groups of four will collaborate on creative photo and video tasks, check in at locations using GPS, and tackle quirky missions such as a lighthearted “operation” at Dr. Griner’s office or alphabetizing baby names at Southern OB. Mommy & Me Cake Decorating Class

Explore cake decorating with MM Treats in a hands-on class where participants personalize a mini cake to take home. The session is open to everyone, whether celebrating Mother’s Day, planning a friend or solo outing, or simply curious about learning something new, and no experience is needed. Instruction covers cake decorating fundamentals, buttercream piping and design techniques, plus color mixing and thoughtful design placement, delivered through live, step by step demonstrations. Each participant receives a complete kit with prebaked vanilla cake layers, a cake board, piping bags and tips, spatulas, and decorations like sprinkles, frosting, and edible pieces, along with packaging for easy transport. Drinks are provided, and everyone leaves with a fully decorated cake. A Mommy and Me option allows you to add a child’s cake so both can decorate side by side, and the child add on must be paired with an adult cake purchase with the adult present at all times; the child option is for ages 5 to 12, and ages 13 and up are considered an adult add on. Spots are limited. Optional upgrades include a mini charcuterie box for $15 and a red velvet cake for $5. Tickets cannot be refunded or transferred.

1st Annual Classic Car Cruise-In

Mother Daughter Brunch

Hosted by the Valdosta-Lowndes Metropolitan Section of the National Council of Negro Women, this eleventh annual mother-daughter brunch welcomes mothers, daughters, and mentors for a morning centered on sisterhood, grace, love, and gratitude at Rainwater Conference Center. The program features keynote speaker Rev. Sylvia Christine Hooker, a leader whose work spans education, music, and ministry. As a former Deputy Superintendent of School Turnaround, she led a $126 million initiative to improve schools across Georgia. She is also a lifelong Minister of Music and an ordained Elder in the AME Zion Church, and she will encourage attendees to lead with purpose and a readiness to work. In keeping with tradition, guests are encouraged to wear hats, pearls, and gloves, though this attire is optional. Early purchase rates are $20 for children ages 5 to 12, $35 for ages 13 and up, and $325 for a VIP table for eight. Regular rates are $25 for children 5 to 12, $45 for ages 13 and up, and $350 for a VIP table for eight.

Free Comic Book Day 2026

Free Comic Book Day brings a fun, family-friendly celebration to Kool Comics. This annual FCBD tradition, supported by comic specialty shops, invites readers of all ages to explore the local comic scene, discover new stories, and spark imagination at no cost. Each participant can choose 1 to 3 free comics, and participants must be present to receive them. Throughout the store, select products will be discounted by up to 50 percent, including back issue comics, toys, and collectibles. Everyone is welcome to take part. The program includes one evening of in person classroom instruction followed by two Nitrox training dives. Tuition is $174.95 and the dives are not included. Before attending the classroom session, participants must purchase an eLearning code in person at the store and complete it ahead of time. Codes obtained independently online will not be accepted.

SDI Advanced Course

The SDI Advanced Scuba Diver course is an earned certification designed to strengthen practical skills across multiple specialties so divers feel more versatile and confident in different conditions. Training includes one evening of classroom instruction, followed by five required dives that cover deep diving and navigation using both compass and natural techniques, along with additional experience in one of the following areas: night, wreck, or drift. West Palm / Pompano

Experience three days of saltwater diving in West Palm Beach and Pompano, with time devoted to exploring reefs and encountering local marine life. The all-inclusive rate is $150 per day and covers boat and parking fees, tanks, a buoyancy compensator, and a regulator rental, with a separate mouthpiece purchase required. A dedicated guide leads each dive, and logistics are handled so the focus stays on the underwater adventure. Space is limited.

Long Run Band

The Long Run, a group of seasoned Florida musicians, pays tribute to the Eagles with meticulous harmonies, layered guitar work, and the kind of energy that defined one of rock and roll’s most successful bands. Members have shared stages with artists including Lynyrd Skynyrd, Steppenwolf, Eddie Money, Beach Boys, .38 Special, Doobie Brothers, and Trace Adkins. The performance showcases five voices locking into those signature parts and a sound crafted to satisfy dedicated Eagles fans. Kayak & Canoe Reservation for Bank Lake Full Blue Moon Paddle

Experience the scenic sunset and full moon from the water. This event offers a kayak and canoe experience. There are a limited number of free boats available, so reservations are required. Participants can also bring their own boats. This is a leisurely paddle, and if youre lucky, you might see some bats. Remember to bring your personal flotation device, paddles, whistle, water, warm clothes, and a first aid kit. Cleanup is part of the event, so bring trash bags, too. Non-members of WWALS will need to pay a fee.

18th Annual Barnes Drug Store 5K Fun Run & Splash Dash

Now in its 18th year, the Barnes Drug Store 5K Fun Run & Splash Dash pairs a lively race experience with a strong community mission. Every contribution is matched dollar for dollar up to $100,000, and all proceeds support Sandy's House, a Valdosta program offering a 12-month residential, faith-based path for women 18 and older who are overcoming addiction. The program provides housing, education, and spiritual training to help participants rebuild their lives in Christ. Through this annual event, Barnes Drug Store has directed more than $1 million to local causes, including over $600,000 for Evans Memorial Camp. The goal is to raise $100,000 for Sandy's House through this edition of the run. Registration is $30 in advance and includes a T-shirt, while later and day-of sign-ups do not include a shirt.
