A sanctioned FNM Commander event at The Cool Place - Albany offers multiplayer Magic in pods with clear rules and structured prizes. Entry is $5, with $4 going into the prize pool and $1 to the shop. Every participant receives at least one promo for playing, and additional prize support is awarded to the highest ranked players. Payouts are provided as store credit or promos, or a combination of both. Participation promos come from WOTC Official Promo Packs that are shuffled and then redistributed at random. Matches begin in pods of up to four players, or divided as evenly as possible based on attendance. The event follows single elimination, with the winner of each pod advancing until a final winners pod is set. That last game is played out to determine placements, with first through fourth recognized as the event winners. Gold bordered cards are permitted. Proxies are not allowed, with no exceptions. A brief 5 to 10 minute grace period is available for those who let someone at the event know they are running late, including while a casual game finishes. Arrivals after the start and grace period can still be added, but with the relevant round losses. Each Commander game is timed at 1.5 hours. When time is called, the active player completes their turn, then each other player takes one additional turn. After those turns, the player with the highest life total wins, and when applicable, remaining life totals determine round placements from highest to lowest. This event may be skipped if another activity takes priority, such as a prerelease.

Chehaw Summer Camp
Each day brings a trip to the zoo along with animal encounters, creative crafts, games and other activities. A snack is provided, and every participant receives a camp T-shirt. Activities are designed to be hands-on to support learning. Chehaw members receive 10 percent off camp sessions and half-price after camp care.

Friday on the Flint is celebrated at Veterans Park Amphitheater with a performance by Dirt Road Sports, outdoor demonstrations, area vendors, conservation-focused community groups, a variety of food trucks, and a kids zone for family-friendly fun. Attendees can opt for a specialty beer and wine tasting for $15, which includes ten sample pours served in a collectible glass sponsored by Container Solutions Inc. The presenters are CBS 44 and Georgia's Own Credit Union. Admission is free, and a clear bag policy applies.

The Albany Area Arts Council’s Carnegie Library hosts a book signing and artists' reception centered on Georgia Natural Wonders: A Journey from Marshland to Mountains by Ann Litrel. The program features an author talk with book signing, followed by an artist reception. Ann Litrel is a nationally published artist whose botanical and wildlife imagery has appeared on prints, books, stationery, and textiles. As a writer and illustrator, she has collaborated on three books and contributed monthly columns exploring art, ecology, community, and history. Her latest body of work presents 35 of Georgia’s natural wonders across more than 100 paintings and drawings, and it is also the focus of the book 35 Natural Wonders of Georgia to See Before You Die, co-authored with science writer Charles Seabrook and published by the University of Georgia Press. The Georgia Natural Wonders painting series premiered at the Booth Museum in Cartersville, Georgia, and will travel to four additional exhibitions around the state. The exhibition will be on view during gallery hours, with appointments available.

Little explorers ages 3 and 4 can take part in a zoo program created just for them. Each session includes a hands-on animal experience, a simple craft, and a story about animals. Activities are tailored to match the interests and attention spans of this age group. The program is included with regular zoo admission and is free for members.
