Business Before Hours: Inside the Brain Coast: Innovation, Discovery & Impact

South Florida has earned the nickname the Brain Coast for its concentration of pioneering brain research. Scientists here are advancing behavioral health, tracing the brain’s circuitry, probing the roots of autism and other developmental conditions, and creating fresh approaches to treating brain cancer as well as neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. A special Business Before Hours from the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce brings together leaders from The Wertheim UF Scripps Institute, the FAU Stiles Nicholson Brain Institute, and the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience to reflect on the impact of more than 20 years of neuroscience in Palm Beach County. The conversation explores how these institutions are revealing how the brain works and how unique drug discovery strengths in the region turn basic findings into new insights and potential medicines with the goal of improving lives. Attendees gain a window into how the next generation of researchers is developed through hands-on internships and rigorous doctoral programs, and how South Florida’s Brain Coast is shaping neuroscience on a global scale.

Madison Morris - LIVE @ Kickback Neighborhood Tavern

Madison Morris brings storytelling-rich Americana to Kickback Neighborhood Tavern, channeling a Texas blues foundation into a blend of country, Americana, and R&B/hip-hop. A singer-songwriter whose work has been submitted to the Grammys three times, his songs appeared on the Grammy consideration ballots in 2023 for “We’re All Still Here,” in 2024 for “Hard Rain,” and in 2025 for “Eve of Revolution,” with “Hard Rain” also earning a 2025 Josie Award nomination for Americana Song of the Year. As a full-time performer with more than 200 shows each year, he pairs vivid narratives with guitar work that shifts from delicate melodic lines to gritty leads and expressive slide. “We’re All Still Here,” written after displacement from Hurricane Ian, highlights his ability to turn lived experience into resonant songwriting. He launched Madison Morris & the Stringfellows in October 2024 and is a member of BMI and the Americana Music Association.
