El Gotan: A Vintage Tango Speakeasy

El Gotán brings a downtown tango class and social to the upstairs space of the historic Gator Club in Sarasota, creating a setting centered on listening, presence, and the quiet conversation between partners. Artist Talk: Anja Palomba

Doors open for mingling and refreshments, followed by an artist talk with Anja Palomba. In a conversational setting, she will discuss the inspirations behind the works in her current exhibition, Composed. Her practice invites viewers to set aside personal and cultural filters and focus on the fundamentals of physics, nature, form, and space. Each piece develops through a dialogue with materials that balances intention with chance. Thin-walled clay is shaped under pressure, incisions reveal new forms and angles, and pigments flow into canvas. As these actions accumulate, associations surface and metaphors evolve, building a visual language that conveys a feeling of belonging to the natural and physical world.
