Fitness with Steel Mace & Stick Mobilty

At The Funk, this small-group fitness class blends steel mace work with Stick Mobility to rebuild strength and restore movement. It delivers a full-body session that develops functional strength, core stability, grip, and shoulder mobility, using the mace’s offset load to challenge stabilizers in ways traditional weights often do not. Mobility sticks provide leveraged, dynamic stretching to expand range of motion while training strength, stability, coordination, posture, and body awareness. The approach pairs active stretch with resistance to build strength at end ranges, support joint health, aid recovery, reduce pain, and contribute to injury prevention, with benefits that carry over to athletic performance and mental well-being. Class size is limited to five participants. Online registration is required. Direct message with any questions.

Availability changes, and some items may be limited per family. To keep the process fair, a lottery system determines the order of service so early arrival and long lines are not necessary. Cards are handed out and drawn at random, then distribution begins. The session begins with a heart-opening partner gaze rooted in tantric tradition, encouraging presence, vulnerability, and clear communication. From there, participants explore NonLinear Movement guided by Heather, a practitioner trained by Michaela Boehm, creator of this modality featured on Netflix’s Sex, Love & Goop. This movement practice supports nervous system regulation, helps identify and process emotions, and reconnects mind and body while awakening vital, sensual energy. With eyes-closed movement done both individually and together, there is space to release without the pressure of being observed. The experience closes with a soothing integration meditation that anchors the connection built throughout the workshop. Participants leave feeling more aligned, with passion reignited and a strengthened bond. This offering is for pairs only. The cost is $75 per person.

Roots & Ritual: Summer Sizzle Tallow Sun Cream

Learn to craft a nourishing tallow-based sun cream in a hands-on herbal workshop that blends traditional plant wisdom with safe, modern formulation. The class explores the long history of using animal fats and herbs for skin care, then guides you through making a rich, water resistant balm designed to support skin in sun, wind, and heat. Participants finish with a handmade jar and the skills to recreate it at home. Instruction covers why tallow’s fatty acids and naturally occurring vitamins can support the skin barrier, how grass-fed and conventional sources differ, and the basics of rendering and purification. You will also compare mineral and chemical sun products, work with zinc oxide and proper dispersion techniques, and review the limitations of homemade SPF along with the importance of reapplication, clothing, and shade. Herbal allies such as calendula, lavender, plantain, chamomile, green tea, sea buckthorn, and aloe are introduced, with step-by-step guidance on infusing oils, choosing botanicals that comfort sun-exposed skin, and building a customizable recipe. Expect clear explanations of UV-A and UV-B light, signs of overexposure, and the roles of antioxidants and emollients in skin support. During the make-and-take session, you will prepare your own batch while learning about patch testing, realistic expectations for herbal products, and safe essential oil dilution. Ideas for variations include adjusting texture with cocoa or mango butter, adding carrot root or vanilla infusions, or incorporating a light shimmer for a cosmetic glow. Everyone leaves with a finished jar, a printed recipe booklet, an infusion guide, storage and shelf life notes, and a resource list for quality ingredients. The class concludes with a focus on simple, nourishing care that respects traditional practices alongside modern safety and informed sun habits.
