The exhibition showcases new work by Mär Martinez, a Syrian American artist and Fulbright scholar, developed during research in Istanbul. Drawing on traditional Turkish and Middle Eastern textile practices, the project reflects on urbanization, surveillance, and cultural memory. Scenes and structures encountered on nighttime walks, including fences, barbed wire, and other hostile designs, are reimagined as motifs of resistance and repair. Layered wood paintings intertwine personal heritage, global textile lineages, and contemporary social commentary. This program coincides with monthly Last Wednesday hours, when gallery admission is free and a cash bar is available.

Thursday Night Ride returns after a six year break with a classic KBS group ride. Expect a 28 mile route at a rolling pace of 16 to 18 mph. The ride heads to Eagle’s Circle, a three mile neighborhood loop, where riders can choose how to tackle the laps, push the speed, keep a steady tempo, or take a quick stop at the convenience store for a snack or to shorten the distance. Everyone will regroup at the store before riding back to the shop together. Lights and helmets are required, and bringing snacks and hydration is recommended. Enjoy self-guided, dog-friendly tours of the exhibition inside the gallery and meet the local artists along with the canine muses behind their work. Dogs should be dry before entering the gallery. Outside, pups can cool off at splash pads while staying leashed and accompanied by their owners, and bringing a towel is recommended. Capture a keepsake at the photo station and sample themed refreshments for both people and pets. Contribute to the community art piece, "The Dogs of Winter Garden," by adding a photo of a present or past dog up to 4 by 6 inches. Please note that submitted photos cannot be returned. Look for dog-themed giveaways while supplies last and raffle drawings for gifts from community partners, with winners required to be present. A portion of ticket sales from this run supports the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida. History Hoopla closes out Adventures in History Summer Camp with a greatest-hits style week that brings back the most-loved activities and adventures for a fresh round of discovery. Campers can expect a lively mix of hands-on learning rooted in history and connected to STEAM, guided by educators in a creative setting. Presented by Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, this program is designed for children ages 6 to 11 who have completed kindergarten. Most weeks include either an offsite field trip or a special guest at no extra cost. Each camper receives one complimentary T-shirt during their first week, with additional shirts available for purchase. The talk is led by Moira Al-Malt, RN and Certified Diabetes Educator, who brings more than 30 years of clinical experience in pediatric endocrinology and high risk obstetrics, as well as perspective as the mother of a 35-year-old son living with Type 1 diabetes. Fall enrollment is open for a middle school homeschool enrichment program that meets weekly in person on Wednesdays. The semester is intentionally kept small and personalized with a cap of 25 students, and it is Step Up approved. Learning centers on communication, confidence, collaboration, critical thinking, leadership, entrepreneurship, and practical, real‑world experiences, with plenty of opportunities to form friendships and strengthen social skills. The Plaza LiveStories in Stone
A guided exploration of the historic Maitland Art Center invites participants to discover a site founded in 1937 as an artists' retreat. The tour delves into its Mayan Revival architecture while winding through lush gardens. Along the way, more than 2,000 carvings and murals associated with A&H are highlighted, offering a closer look at the artistry across the grounds.
First Saturdays Open Studios
Talk with studio artists, observe works taking shape, and take advantage of free museum entry. Launched in response to community feedback for more consistent engagement with local artists, this new program offers a welcoming way to see creativity in progress.
FREE Magnolia Wellness Hour: Therapeutic Horticulture
Lisa Rosen, a yoga instructor, massage therapist, master gardener, and lifelong naturalist, leads a conversation on the healing connection between people and the natural world. Explore the science behind why time in nature supports well-being and learn practical ways to bring more nature-based experiences into daily life. This session is part of Magnolia Wellness Hour, a free community talk led by a local expert on a focused wellness topic, created to enrich and empower the community. Venue on the Lake - Maitland Civic CenterLittle Creatives & Me
Songs, stories, and hands-on art await in the main garden on the historic grounds of the Art & History Museums. Little ones can settle into a themed circle gathering and story time, then make a simple art project, with a small snack included. This program is designed for babies and toddlers under age 3 alongside a parent, grandparent, or caregiver, and older siblings are welcome. Space is limited and advance registration is required, with sign-ups closing two days before the program. Allow time to park and walk to the garden, and feel free to bring a picnic blanket for your family. Part of the 2025-26 Free Family Programs at A&H, supported by a grant from Duke Energy Foundation.
