Rollin' With My Gnomies Board Games & Cafe hosts a dedicated meetup for Magic in the Commander format, created to help players connect, find new opponents, and bring along their regular group. Ages 13 and up pay a $5 table fee, while children 12 and under and all members are free. The table fee also includes access to a board game library with more than 450 games. Outside food and drinks are not permitted.

April 2026 Monthly Meeting

This monthly meeting at Our Lady of Consolation Parish welcomes everyone, from curious beginners to experienced beekeepers. It includes a beginner beekeeping session with a new topic each month to build skills and confidence, followed by a general meeting that offers rotating programs or group discussions for learning, conversation, and collaboration. Trivia Nation hosts a live, weekly general knowledge trivia night at Bohemian Bull in Yulee. The team-based format is similar to Jeopardy! or Trivial Pursuit, with questions suited to a wide range of ages. Participation is free, and $100 in prizes are available each week. Final Monday Poetry Club - Free Event

A free, monthly open mic at The Inkwell Art Bar welcomes writers, readers, and fans of spoken word in a relaxed listening-room atmosphere. S.O.S. Al-Anon Open Meeting — Mondays at 11 AM

S.O.S. is an Al-Anon Family Group on Amelia Island offering free, confidential weekly meetings for anyone whose life is affected by another person’s drinking. Al-Anon is a peer support community for relatives and friends of people with alcohol problems. It is separate from AA and is meant for those around the drinker, including spouses, partners, parents, children, siblings, and friends. In these open meetings, participants talk about their experiences and the tools that help them cope. Listening to others in similar situations can lessen isolation, deepen understanding of how alcoholism impacts families, and support taking life one day at a time, whether the drinker is still drinking, in recovery, not seeking help, or no longer present. Gatherings take place at the Alachua Club in Fernandina Beach. Family and friends affected by alcoholism are welcome, and observers such as professionals, medical personnel, students, and reporters may attend to learn more about the effects of alcohol on loved ones. Mid-Week Farmers & Arts Market

Now based at the 8 Flags Shopping Center on Amelia Island, this mid-week market showcases local farms, food producers, and makers. Offerings include area-raised beef, pork, and chicken, fresh local shrimp, seasonal produce, chicken and duck eggs, and goat dairy. Browse artisan breads, local honey, jams, herbal teas, pastries, and Greek specialties with cheeses. Enjoy locally roasted organic coffee beans and grounds, plus a featured food and coffee truck. An assortment of arts and crafts rounds out the experience, and new vendors and items are added every week as the market continues to grow.

Wednesday Points League

A friendly, competitive 9-hole individual Stableford league at The Golf Club at North Hampton gives golfers a chance to surpass a personal points quota based on handicap. The starting quota equals 18 minus your 9-hole handicap, and players without a GHIN begin at 18. Quotas are recalculated using up to the last five scores. The scoring structure awards 8 points for a double eagle, 6 for an eagle, 4 for a birdie, 2 for par, 1 for bogey, 0 for double bogey, and minus 1 for a triple bogey or worse. You may play 9 or 18 holes, with only one 9-hole round counting, and eligibility requires playing with at least two other participants. Entry is $20 cash with payouts in cash. An optional $10 cash skins game is available and divided into divisions. Select your tees for the season from Blue, White, Green for golfers 65 and older, or Red for ladies. Friends of Fernandina Skatepark is taking part in the 61st Shrimpfest Parade and will meet at Central Park. Participants are asked to wear the required parade uniform and attire. Ties and socks are being made by Natalya Johnson.

Howl at the Moon Beach Yoga - Amelia Island, FL

Beach yoga returns to Amelia Island with an all-levels practice that blends yoga and playful movement at sunset, concluding beneath the May full moon, often called the Flower Moon. Bring a mat or blanket, or simply practice in the sand. A soft red light is welcome, with hopes for a clear, moonlit evening. Expect a spirited group howl during this donation-based gathering. A full weekend of pageantry, pirates, music, and celebrations unfolds with opening ceremonies that set the stage for the Miss Shrimp Festival Pageant, a parade awards presentation, live music by The Insiders, an Invasion of the Pirates, and fireworks at the harbor. The following day features performances by the Fernandina Beach High School Jazz Ensemble, Miriam Morelli & the Groove, Door Seven, Gilberto 77, Billy King, and Honey Badgers. Highlights include an Invasion of the Pirates scholarship presentation, a beard contest, an adult pirate contest, and the Second Annual Shrimp Eating Contest. 2026 Rumble at the Line Cattle and Dairy Goat show

The Ranch at Traders Hill LLC hosts the second annual cattle and dairy goat show across three days. Friday features cattle check in and a cattle showmanship competition, with late check ins accepted after showmanship concludes. Saturday presents classes for registered and commercial heifers, as well as bulls and steers. Sunday centers on dairy goats, beginning with check in, then showmanship, followed by breed classes.

The Veterans Phalanx and Whale Guard are partnering at Peters Point Beach Access for a Next Objective: Continuing Service beach cleanup that brings veterans, families, and supporters together to care for the shoreline and contribute to local environmental health. The effort begins with a short briefing in the parking area, followed by about an hour of collecting litter along the sand. This collaboration highlights a shared dedication to service, stewardship, and community, creating tangible results while building connection through working side by side. Trash bags, gloves, and refreshments will be provided, and participants are welcome to bring their own gloves.

9th Annual May Merriment NSCA –1 and/or 2 Days • 2 Courses • $150 HOA on Each Event

The 9th May Merriment NSCA takes place at Amelia Shotgun Sports in Northeast Florida, a short drive from I-95, with courses set by master target setter Joe Scull. A refreshed two-day format features two distinct 100-target sporting clays events, the Green Course and the Orange Course, which can be completed in one day or divided across both days. Practice targets are available, and both courses use a European start. Breakfast and lunch are provided for qualifying shooters, and cold water is available at alternating stations. Each main event is $85 and includes sales tax as well as NSCA and FSCA fees. A $150 HOA is guaranteed per event, excluding re-shoots. Optional purses include $15 Back to Class, $20 Lewis, and $20 Class. Additional amenities include a 10-target warm-up for $5, a four-person golf cart rental for $55, and a push cart rental for $20, with cart selections made for the preferred day during registration. NSCA rules apply, and squads must have at least three shooters. Tournament participants can also access an exclusive discount on custom-fitted hearing protection from Kitty Ears, with fittings scheduled at the event for a later date and a 50 percent deposit due at scheduling. On-site lodging is available, including complimentary off-grid RV spaces for registered shooters, with five wooded spots and eight paved spots reservable through shoot amenities, plus a tiny house called Blast From Past that can be booked separately.

Shrimp Run 5k

The McArthur Family YMCA brings back the 29th annual Shrimp Festival 5K in conjunction with the Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival, welcoming both runners and walkers for a community tradition. A one mile race is also offered for children ages 12 and under. Proceeds support the Y’s drowning prevention efforts across Nassau County, working with schools and youth organizations to promote water safety for kids. Registration for the 5K features tiered pricing at $30 for early entry, $35 for late entry, and $40 on race day with payment by cash or check. The one mile youth entry is $15 and includes a race shirt. The 5K honors the top three men and women overall, awards first place masters for both, and recognizes the top two male and female finishers in each age group, with results determined by gun time. All 5K finishers receive medals. Game Changers is providing gift certificates for top performers, including $150 for the overall male and female champions and for masters champions, $50 for second overall male and female, and $25 for third overall. Wildlight Market Place brings together farmers and artists in Nassau County for a friendly community market filled with food, music, and crafts. Wednesday Points League

The Golf Club at North Hampton hosts a weekly points league built around a 9-hole individual Stableford format, where each golfer aims to surpass a personalized points quota tied to handicap. Entry is $20 cash with weekly cash payouts, and an optional $10 cash skins game is offered with divisions. Participants choose season-long tees from Blue, White, Green for ages 65 and up, or Red for ladies. The format uses a points quota that starts at 18 minus your 9-hole handicap, and players without a GHIN begin at 18 points. Quotas are updated weekly using up to the last five scores. Scoring awards 8 points for a double eagle, 6 for an eagle, 4 for a birdie, 2 for par, 1 for bogey, 0 for a double bogey, and minus 1 for a triple bogey or worse. Designed for puppies and dogs at least four months old, this professional group obedience class uses positive training to help you build a lasting bond with your companion. Sessions run over four weeks at the same day and time each week, with no more than six participants, and take place in public settings to develop real world skills. Instruction focuses on on leash manners including sit, down, stay, loose leash walking, coming when called, and sitting politely for greetings, along with cues such as take it, leave it, and drop it. Cumberland Island & Dungeness Ruins

Set around Fernandina Beach and Amelia Island, this guided kayak outing explores Cumberland Island National Seashore over roughly five hours. The route can include a waterside look at Amelia Island’s historic Forth Clinch before crossing to Cumberland, where paddlers experience undeveloped beaches, maritime forests, long dune lines, and a landscape rich in history. Time on the island includes an up-close look at the grounds surrounding the Dungeness ruins. Along the way there are chances to navigate both the coastline and interior waterways, with wild horses often spotted near the ruins.

Al-Anon is a mutual support fellowship for relatives and friends of people with alcohol problems. It is separate from AA and is not intended for the person who drinks. The focus is on learning healthier ways to respond and understanding how alcoholism can affect families and relationships. There is no cost to attend, privacy is respected, and newcomers are encouraged. During the meeting, participants share what they have been through and the hope they have found. This can ease isolation, provide new perspective, and support taking life one day at a time. THE RANCH AT TRADERS HILL RIDE NIGHT 2025

An author reception honors the release of a new Amelia Island coffee table book by Stephen Doster with photography by Benjamin Galland. 43rd Annual Kingfish and Fishing Rodeo

At Port of Fernandina, anglers gather for a long-running kingfish tournament paired with an expanded fishing rodeo. Registration is open. The Kingfish division guarantees $10,000 for first place, and the top prize reached $11,700 last year. Anyone with a valid fishing license can compete. The Rodeo division does not require a boat and allows fishing from local public areas such as beaches, jetties, and riverbanks, with private docks not permitted. Rodeo targets include Flounder, Sheepshead, Redfish, Whiting, and Pompano, along with offshore options that can complement a kingfish haul like Cobia, Sea Bass, and Spanish Mackerel. Beyond the action on the water, look for a silent auction, raffles, sponsor displays with trucks and boats for sale, food and beverages, entertainment, vendors, and event shirts available for purchase. A captains meeting precedes a full day of fishing, with weigh-ins and awards to follow. Families are welcome to stop by and watch the big fish hit the scales. The 5th Annual Health and Safety Expo celebration is taking shape, and organizers are welcoming support to make it a vibrant community event in Nassau County. For nearly three decades, the Miró Quartet has been recognized as one of America’s leading string quartets, earning a GRAMMY nomination and acclaim from publications such as The New Yorker and the Cleveland Plain Dealer for its commitment and interpretive depth. Based in Austin, Texas, the ensemble appears on major stages around the world and seeks fresh ways to connect with listeners while honoring the traditions of chamber music. Recent and upcoming highlights include Here on Earth with pianist Lara Downes, a touring and recording project that paints musical portraits of our planet and its evolution, the premiere of a new version of Kevin Puts’ Credo with the Naples Philharmonic, and collaborations with Steven Banks, Tamar-Kali, Gabriel Kahane, and soprano Karen Slack. The album Home on Pentatone received a 2025 GRAMMY nomination for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance and features new commissions by Kevin Puts and Caroline Shaw alongside works by George Walker and Samuel Barber.
