Recovery Dharma Meeting with Stacy (Day Time)

An inclusive recovery gathering offering a 12 step alternative for anyone seeking relief from suffering. Whether the challenge involves alcohol, drugs, codependency or relationship patterns, food, sex, shopping, work, heavy internet use such as doomscrolling or pornography, or persistent negative thoughts and worry, the focus is on understanding how we numb out and helping participants reconnect with their lives. Grounded in Recovery Dharma, the meeting uses the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path to explore habits that keep people stuck and to support healing. It begins with a few minutes of gentle yoga stretches, followed by a 20 minute meditation. Participants then read and reflect on selections from Recovery Dharma and other helpful texts for healing. The book is available as a free PDF, and some copies may be available to purchase from the facilitator. It can also be obtained on Amazon or through Dharma. The approach emphasizes learning to heal what has caused harm and building the inner strength to release addictions that no longer serve a new life, without needing to rely on anything outside oneself. Led by Stacy Preece, a certified recovery coach and fellow peer, the meeting encourages expanding a personal toolkit and finding practices that work for each individual. Killer Queen

The performance at the King Center for the Performing Arts features Killer Queen, a tribute to Queen whose journey began with early public shows at London University, echoing the path of the original band. Their UK following grew quickly, leading to a residency at London’s Strand Theatre that drew nationwide BBC attention as the first West End appearance by a tribute act. Recognition expanded at home and abroad, including top tribute honors at a Leicester Square ceremony hosted by Suggs of Madness and a chart-topping collaboration recreating Queen’s harmonies for Fatboy Slim’s The Real Life. Demand across Europe brought appearances at major arenas such as Ahoy and Forest National Arena, venues linked to Queen concert films for Hammer to Fall and Don’t Stop Me Now. The group joined Björn Again and The Bootleg Beatles for a Waverley Stadium show in Edinburgh, then was selected to represent Queen at a re-created Live Aid in Malta organized by Sir Bob Geldof, also sharing the stage at his arena fundraiser supporting homeless youth. In the United States, Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre became a milestone and a frequent sellout stop. Recent highlights include packed arenas in Stavanger, Cardiff, Nottingham, Aberdeen, Glasgow, and Leeds, with upcoming plans that span an arena run in Lithuania, dates in Liverpool and Newcastle, and more sold-out shows at Red Rocks and Austin City Limits. Lead singer Patrick Myers notes that what started as a short-term idea grew into performing in the same arenas Queen once played, with Red Rocks standing out for its unique atmosphere.

Express Yourself - Homeschool Session

A homeschool art class designed for middle and high school students invites young creatives to work like real artists in a studio-style environment. Built on the TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) approach, it emphasizes choice, independence, and the full creative process. It is intended for ages 12 and up, with no prior experience required, though students should be ready to plan, problem solve, and practice artistic habits. Age exceptions may be considered by the instructor. Sessions typically start with quick creative warmups or sketching, followed by focused instruction when a new medium or technique is introduced. After learning and gathering inspiration, students select their own subjects, develop compositions, create their pieces, and spend time reflecting on their work and the work of peers. Guided by a professional artist and educator, participants build skills through themed lessons and technique builders that support personal, student-directed creations. Final projects vary according to each student’s interests, abilities, and technique choices. Tuition is $25 per class or $150 for a six-class series, and all art supplies are included. Scheduling may adjust around holidays or studio needs. Wear clothes that can handle creative messes, as not all materials are easily washable. Aprons are available, and students should bring a water bottle and may want a snack. Participants develop patience, focus, confidence, and the flexibility to respond to unexpected results. The class cultivates kindness, friendships, inventive problem solving, and appreciation for each student’s unique strengths. Creative practice supports concept visualization, fine motor skills, and connections to both history and everyday life while encouraging personal expression and growth.

The Rite of the Womb Ceremony

At The Chacana Spiritual Center, Full Mesa Carrier Ashley Weaver leads a sacred, experiential class that shares the Rite of the Womb, an ancestral healing ceremony that restores connection with the sacred feminine and honors the womb as a source of creation, care, and deep wisdom. Through guided meditation, energy work, and other ceremonial practices, participants explore how to release stored blockages, emotional pain, and old trauma held in the womb space, then reclaim the strength of this center. The experience welcomes anyone who wishes to connect with the feminine within, mend ancestral patterns, and nurture their creative potential. The setting is supportive and empowering. You will learn to honor the womb as a sacred space and open to greater intuition, creativity, and self love. Teachings also reflect on the cycles of life, death, and renewal, encouraging a closer relationship with the rhythms of nature and the larger cosmos. Many leave feeling steadier, more aligned, and ready to inhabit their wholeness and sacred power. Ashley is a Full Mesa carrier trained in Peruvian Shamanic healing practices. With a background in healthcare and human resources, she began formal spiritual studies about eight years ago, a path that brought her to the Chacana Center. She values learning by doing and sharing, holds a bachelor’s degree in human resources management, is certified in multiple levels of PADI scuba diving, stays committed to health and fitness, volunteers with an animal shelter, and aspires to offer shamanic service for animals in the future.
