Advanced Open Water Course - Fresh Water Springs

The NAUI Advanced Open Water Diver course at Depth Finder’s Scuba is designed for certified divers who want to build confidence, expand capabilities, and qualify for more challenging freshwater spring dives. Training emphasizes real-world scenarios, hands-on practice, and coaching in small groups, with spring dives at Blue Grotto and Paradise Springs. Blue Grotto features a well-known freshwater cavern with clear visibility suited to training, while Paradise Springs offers deeper limestone profiles with striking light and geology. Participants complete six training dives. Every student conducts a deep dive, a navigation dive, and a night dive, then chooses three additional dives that match personal goals, with options such as buoyancy, full face mask, or search and recovery. Included with the course are six advanced dives, the night dive experience, NAUI eLearning to be completed beforehand, tanks and air fills, a wetsuit, lead weights, and certification upon successful completion. Required gear includes standard scuba equipment, with rental BCD, regulator, and computer available if needed, along with a slate and dive lights. An SMB and reel are recommended for practice here and are required for boat diving in other versions of the course. Lodging can be arranged at Blue Grotto for those planning to stay overnight. Class sizes are kept small for personal attention, strong safety practices, and meaningful skill development. The course suits certified divers from any agency who want to refine buoyancy, explore new environments, and build a foundation for Rescue, Cavern, or future technical training. The schedule typically begins with an evening classroom session and paperwork at Depth Finder’s Scuba, continues with three spring dives at Blue Grotto including the night dive, and concludes with additional dives at Blue Grotto or Paradise Springs for deeper profiles.

Christmas in July Party

Santa is swapping the sleigh for a boat for a Christmas in July celebration on the water. This annual boat bash brings decorated vessels, holiday music with sunny summer vibes, and plenty of floating, mingling, and sandbar fun. The only way to get there is from the water, so boat in, paddle in, or float up, as there is no land access. Plan to bring your own drinks and snacks, pack some floats, and show up with lots of holiday spirit. Festive attire is encouraged, whether that means Santa hats, beachy elf looks, or anything that spreads cheer. Expect to cruise, tie up, and relax as the flotilla gathers, and feel free to go all out with decorations and a spirited crew. It is Christmas celebrated the Florida way, right on the water.
