Best of Broadway: Andrew Lloyd Webber & More!

At The Charlotte Performing Arts Center, a concert highlights signature songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber alongside other Broadway favorites, with touches that reach fans of classical and rock as well. International countertenor Terry Barber and award-winning performer Shelley Keelor lead the program, revisiting memorable music and characters from shows such as Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Aspects of Love, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Les Miserables, Chicago, Hamilton, and The Phantom of the Opera. Barber appears as a former member of the Grammy-winning vocal group Chanticleer, an eight-time Grammy nominee for his solo album Reimagined: Mercury, a singer who has performed in 17 languages, and a soloist at major halls that include the Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall, and Moscow’s Svetlanov Hall. Keelor brings Silver Palm and Carbonell honors and leading roles on stages across the country. They are joined by Brandon Glick on piano, Rick Kissinger as a multi-reed instrumentalist, and Ian Wilkinson on violin. A replica of the Paris Opera House serves as the scenic backdrop, a nod to the world of The Phantom of the Opera, with the historic chandelier accident referenced only in spirit, not as a reenactment.

Plumeria Prowess

Explore how to guide plumeria from winter rest to abundant blooms in a practical, down-to-earth session led by Brian Dawes, owner of The Potted Plumeria Nursery in Fort Lauderdale. With more than a decade of hands-on experience devoted solely to plumeria, he shares proven techniques that span propagation, overall plant health, and effective control of pests and diseases, while continually testing new approaches. Geared to conditions in South Florida and useful for both beginners and seasoned growers, the presentation focuses on simplifying care routines, steering clear of common missteps, and strengthening plants for reliable flowering. The session covers the seasonal cycle of dormancy, smart watering and soil choices, fertilizing practices, and how care differs in containers compared with in-ground plantings. It also includes straightforward methods for starting new plants and recognizing as well as managing issues such as rust. The emphasis is on clear, actionable guidance that can be put to use right away to help plumeria thrive. Brian’s work with plumeria has been recognized in a Martha Stewart article featuring dedicated growers.

Advanced Open Water Course - Fresh Water Springs

The NAUI Advanced Open Water Diver course at Depth Finder’s Scuba is designed for certified divers who want to build confidence, expand capabilities, and qualify for more challenging freshwater spring dives. Training emphasizes real-world scenarios, hands-on practice, and coaching in small groups, with spring dives at Blue Grotto and Paradise Springs. Blue Grotto features a well-known freshwater cavern with clear visibility suited to training, while Paradise Springs offers deeper limestone profiles with striking light and geology. Participants complete six training dives. Every student conducts a deep dive, a navigation dive, and a night dive, then chooses three additional dives that match personal goals, with options such as buoyancy, full face mask, or search and recovery. Included with the course are six advanced dives, the night dive experience, NAUI eLearning to be completed beforehand, tanks and air fills, a wetsuit, lead weights, and certification upon successful completion. Required gear includes standard scuba equipment, with rental BCD, regulator, and computer available if needed, along with a slate and dive lights. An SMB and reel are recommended for practice here and are required for boat diving in other versions of the course. Lodging can be arranged at Blue Grotto for those planning to stay overnight. Class sizes are kept small for personal attention, strong safety practices, and meaningful skill development. The course suits certified divers from any agency who want to refine buoyancy, explore new environments, and build a foundation for Rescue, Cavern, or future technical training. The schedule typically begins with an evening classroom session and paperwork at Depth Finder’s Scuba, continues with three spring dives at Blue Grotto including the night dive, and concludes with additional dives at Blue Grotto or Paradise Springs for deeper profiles.

Madison Morris - LIVE @ unWINEd Punta Gorda

Madison Morris brings his narrative-rich Americana to unWINEd Punta Gorda, shaped by Texas blues roots and a guitar approach that shifts from gentle melodic lines to gritty solos and expressive slide. A full-time performer with more than 200 shows each year, he blends country, Americana, and elements of R&B and hip hop. His recordings appeared on Grammy consideration ballots in three consecutive years, including We’re All Still Here in 2023, Hard Rain in 2024, and Eve of Revolution in 2025. Hard Rain also received a 2025 Josie Award nomination for Americana Song of the Year. We’re All Still Here was written after he was displaced by Hurricane Ian, reflecting a commitment to turning real experiences into song. He launched Madison Morris & the Stringfellows in October 2024 and is a member of BMI and the Americana Music Association.

Transform Your Soul: Retreat & Heal Reiki

Retreat and Heal Reiki creates a peaceful retreat setting where certified practitioners offer gentle energy work designed to ease stress, clear blockages, and bring body, mind, and spirit into harmony. Participants can settle into deep rest, focus on self-reflection, and support the body’s natural capacity to rejuvenate. The experience also features a sound healing journey, often referred to as a sound bath, with soothing vibrations from crystal singing bowls, gongs, and chimes. These tones encourage tranquility, help align the body’s subtle energy centers, and can foster emotional release, mental clarity, renewed vitality, and a sense of spiritual growth. Held at The Pergola, this program provides a limited number of yoga mats, and personal mats are welcome. Admission includes entry to The Gardens and full access to the Origami in the Garden exhibition. Guidance is provided by Esmeralda Menoud, a Transformational Soul Coach who supports stroke survivors and others on their paths of healing and spirituality. Drawing on more than six years of her own stroke recovery, and training through Sedona Soul Adventures, she weaves breathwork, Reiki, and intuitive insight into a client-centered approach that nurtures growth, resilience, and purpose.
