Explore transparent watercolor in a six-class workshop with Linda Benson. Through a hands-on approach, you will paint alongside the instructor while building skills or refreshing what you already know. Each session focuses on core topics such as brushwork, color theory, perspective, smooth gradients, and strong composition, and includes reference handouts. Expect practical tips and techniques aimed at creating successful paintings. Member pricing is $150 and regular pricing is $180. Participants should bring six transparent primary watercolor tubes in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet, choosing traditional transparent tube paints rather than opaque options or round cake sets. A mix of round and flat brushes is recommended, including a 1-inch flat. Leadership development is built in, with opportunities to serve as Captains and Managers, and a mentorship pairing connects younger performers with older students to encourage growth and friendship. The season wraps with a trip to Universal Orlando Resort that includes a workshop, a day in the park, and a CityWalk performance. Program cost is $850 for the year, with a $250 deposit followed by $75 per month.

The third week of SBDAC’s Creative Academy visual arts camp invites teens ages 13 to 17 to deepen their skills, broaden their creative voice, and tackle advanced ideas through hands-on studio work and collaborative installations. Under the guidance of award-winning educator and professional artist Melissa Phelps, participants explore both foundational and contemporary techniques while diving into illustration, painting, mixed media, sustainability, design, and exhibition practices. Chaos in the Cape brings a three round Blood Bowl tournament to Cool Comics and Games, offering a fun day of competitive play and a chance to sharpen skills ahead of the Chaos Cup. The entry fee is $15, plus $5 if you need to join NAF, and every dollar will be turned into store credit to be awarded as prizes. Teams are built with 1,150,000 gold pieces, and you may spend that on players, rerolls, fan factor, assistant coaches, cheerleaders, an apothecary and inducements. Only inducements from the 2025 rulebook are permitted, and mercenaries, wizards and prayers to Nuffle are not allowed. If you hire a Star Player, you must first roster 11 players. The Highlander rule applies, so opponents cannot field the same star in the same game. Coaches using a star should explain that player’s Special Rule to their opponent and track its use. Teams should be fully painted, positionals clearly identifiable, all players numbered and any chosen skills visibly marked. Tiers and skill budgets are in effect: Tier 1 teams receive 36 SPP and may add one Star Player, Tier 2 receive 42 SPP and one star, Tier 3 receive 50 SPP and one star, Tier 4 receive 56 SPP and may include two stars, and Tier 5 receive 64 SPP and may include two stars. Primary skills cost 6 SPP and secondary skills cost 12 SPP, with no stat increases allowed. There is no limit on skill types except for Elite skills, which are capped at four of each type. A second Primary on the same player is allowed and counts as a selected Primary for a total of 14 SPP, but you cannot stack a Primary and a Secondary on one player, and you cannot add skills to Star Players. Stars cost an additional 12 SPP beyond their fee, while Mega Stars such as Griff Oberwald, Hakflem Skuttlespike, H’Thark the Unstoppable, Ivan Deathshroud, Morg ’n’ Thorg, Dribl and Drull, Grak and Crumbleberry, Jeremiah Kool and Jordell Freshbreeze cost 24 SPP, and only one Mega Star is allowed. A special twist labeled for Round 2 features the Avatar of Akhorne. During Round 1, coaches may select a lineman to use Akhorne the Squirrel’s profile for that round, and bringing a suitable Akhorne model is strongly encouraged. Play consists of three rounds at 2 hours and 20 minutes each, with a one hour lunch break after the first game. During lunch, teams will be displayed for a best painted review by a panel of judges, and there are several nearby spots in the plaza for food. Awards include best coach, runner up, most casualties, best painted team and additional spot prizes. To register, send the organizer a message on Facebook. Heat Latin Jazz Band
Heat Latin Jazz Band brings a vibrant mix of salsa and Afro-Cuban jazz to the Music & Arts Community Center, delivering a set built on tight Latin rhythms, radiant horn lines, and propulsive percussion that keeps the energy high. This six member group has thrilled Fort Myers audiences for almost ten years with performances that balance musical precision and pure joy. Whether you are an experienced salsa dancer or simply ready to move to the groove, dancing is encouraged. Conceived by Keith Doxie, a music instructor at Lexington Middle School, the band is led by trumpeter Diego Azcuy. The ensemble reflects a wide range of backgrounds and careers, including assistant bandleader and drummer percussionist Miguel Azcuy, a registered nurse, and co-founder and keyboardist Juan Enrique Diaz, a professional welder. Other members come from FGCU and are active across the Southwest Florida music scene. Together they present a distinctive approach to Afro-Cuban music in the region, blending challenging arrangements with an infectious sense of fun.

This monthly meeting includes an auction and features a presentation called Malawi Cichlids for Rookies, focusing on understanding these fish along with practical methods for successful care and breeding. The speaker, Chuck Rambo, maintains over 30 aquariums of cichlids from around the world and has been keeping fish since 1967. His experience includes more than twenty dives in both Lake Malawi and Lake Tanganyika. He is a past president and current life member of the Pacific Coast Cichlid Association, and he is a former chair and current Fellow of the American Cichlid Association.

Returning due to popular demand at Cape Cabaret Dinner Theater, this night celebrates Salsa and Hustle with DJ Nancy Alonso guiding a lively blend of Disco, Hustle, Salsa, House, and Freestyle. Hustle shares steps with Mambo and Salsa, and both dances continue to be taught and performed today. A $5 cover applies. Happy hour is offered and the kitchen will be serving during the event.

The fourth annual Southwest Florida Taste of Latino Festival fills Centennial Park in downtown Ft. Myers with flavors, art, and music that honor Hispanic heritage. The event features the Empanada and Best Cuban Sandwich Smackdown and presents the Top Latino Lideres Awards. It also brings together the Cuban Sandwich Festival and the Taste of Latino Food, Art and Music Festival, with live music and dance performances. Expect delicious offerings representing Puerto Rico, Mexico, Colombia, Cuba, Spain, Peru, Venezuela, and more. The Top Latino Chef Contest showcases desserts such as flan, tres leches, and guava pastries, appetizers like tapas, ceviche, empanadas, Cuban sandwiches, arepas, and tacos, and main dishes including arroz con pollo, paella, and other rice favorites. Admission is free for this family and community gathering that draws young and older adults, along with VIPs, celebrities, and community, business, and political leaders. Beginner American Sign Language classes offer an interactive learning experience led by Deaf instructors. Lessons focus on building foundational skills in a supportive, engaging setting. The course spans five weeks and is free for Deaf and hard of hearing participants. The fee is $75 for the full series, with discounts available for immediate family members of Deaf and hard of hearing individuals. A certificate of completion is awarded at the end of the course.

A Band Called Honalee is a contemporary folk trio rooted in the music and legacy of Peter, Paul & Mary. Their performances are lively, interactive, and full of energy, giving audiences a chance to experience these classics live again. Listeners can look forward to favorites made famous by Peter, Paul & Mary, including "Leaving on a Jet Plane," "Blowing in the Wind," and "Puff The Magic Dragon." With tight harmonies, skillful musicianship, and polished stagecraft, the group also frequently includes selections by Bob Dylan, The Byrds, Pete Seeger, Joni Mitchell, The Mamas & The Papas, Joan Baez, The Weavers, Judy Collins, and many others.

The Sandbar and Grille - Fort MyersGolf Scramble
Hosted by the Fort Myers Lions Club, this annual charitable scramble at Eastwood Golf Course raises funds for the Prevent Hunger Program. Teams and single players are welcome. Registration is $100 per golfer and includes lunch. Prizes will be awarded to first and second place, and on-course contests include longest drive, a putting challenge, and closest to the pin.
