Spaghetti Dinner

A spaghetti dinner fundraiser in support of the Citizens' Hose Fire Company Auxiliary will be held at Citizens' Hose Company Auxiliary. The meal features salad, garlic bread, and spaghetti with a choice of plain or meat sauce, along with water, tea, coffee, and desserts. A cash bar will offer beer, wine, soda, and mixed drinks. Adults are $15, children ages 6 to 10 are $8, and children 5 and under are free. A summer basket raffle will be held, with the winner announced at the end of the event. Dover Days Parade and Festival

The Biggs Museum of American Art marks Dover Days with a weekend of activities. Beyond the museum, the festival fills downtown with food vendors, fireworks, a parade, and other historic festivities. The Dover Days Parade will include a special float from the Biggs, and visitors can stop by the museum to add their brushstrokes to a large community canvas, creating a collaborative painting together. It is a celebration of spring, creativity, and Delaware’s rich history at the heart of the festival.

Children's Homeschool Hour - Spring STEM Stations

Homeschool Hour at Milford Public Library highlights a new subject each session with presenters, hands-on activities, and plenty of learning. This installment explores bees, pollination, and gardening through a set of STEM stations. Children can craft a pipe cleaner bee to model how pollinators move pollen and take a closer look at the process. They will also assemble a simple greenhouse using a bag and bean seeds to bring home and watch sprout, along with guidance on starting seeds. Another station invites participants to plant nasturtium seeds in jiffy pots and learn how these flowers attract helpful pollinators and draw pests away from food plants. Registration is required, and only the children who will participate should be registered. If plans change, cancel at least 24 hours in advance so a waitlisted family can attend. Missing two programs without notice may result in a temporary suspension of registration privileges.

Discover how Dover distinguished itself before and during the Revolution. Connected to global commerce and affluent enough to enjoy imported goods, the town had many educated residents who observed proper social customs. Already serving as the county seat, Dover became Delaware’s capital in 1777. People in town and on nearby plantations felt both rising patriotism and loyalty to the mother country, considered how these currents might affect their lives, and did not always agree. In a close-knit community where many knew one another and were related, working together remained vital to preserve peace. This presentation looks at what was happening around town during a period that tested women and men alike. Presented by Margaret Dunham.

No donation is required to participate, and all visitors may choose from the available items and add their touch to a collaborative art project. A resource booth will offer supportive information for the community, including mental health materials, mutual aid resources, and more. Donations are accepted during the organization’s regular hours leading up to and on the day of the swap. The organization reserves the right to refuse certain items. The American Chestnut Story

A room-number mix-up entangles Traci’s fiancé Peter Mudd and traveler Douglas DuPont, while receptionist Candy, paid by Beatrice to distract Peter, winds up drawn to Douglas instead. Douglas, a harmless travel writer covering destination weddings, is mistakenly pegged as an agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the confusion turns the nuptials into a stop-and-start saga. Amid the chaos, feelings grow between Bubba and Beatrice, Peter and Traci find and lose their footing more than once, and Audrina and Douglas spark a connection. The 13th state stop of the Riding 22 States in 22 Days Veteran Suicide Awareness benefit ride rolls into Rommel Harley-Davidson in Smyrna. Participants can register online or in person. A suggested donation of $20 per rider and $10 per passenger supports a 100% volunteer nonprofit that helps cover transportation, lodging, meals, and road or wind therapy for veterans and their caregivers facing mental health challenges. Riders may take part for a single gas stop, one state, several states, or complete the entire 22-state journey. All types of vehicles are welcome. Each day includes visits to local roadside attractions and military memorials to add meaning and comfort to the ride.

A summertime gathering for women centered on reflection, growth, and community unfolds at Huck & Buck Farm. Designed to create spaciousness, it encourages slowing down, reconnecting with yourself, and tending to parts of life that are still taking shape. Through group conversation, intentional planting and other hands-on moments, light movement, and a carefully prepared brunch, participants explore how to nurture themselves with the same patience and care given to a garden. It is neither a formal conference nor a performance. The atmosphere is come as you are. Every element, from the setting to the pacing of the day, aims to feel welcoming, grounded, and unrushed. Whether in a period of growth, transition, or quiet rediscovery, this experience supports grounding more deeply and clarifying what you hope will bloom next within a meaningful community.

Rooted Basics: A Beginner's Guide to Gardening

Learn the fundamentals of starting a garden in a beginner friendly workshop led by Kent County Master Gardener Karen Abate. Explore how to set clear goals, evaluate your space, and prepare the site so your plants have the best chance to thrive. The session is free and offered in a hybrid format, with options to participate online or in person at the UD Paradee Center. Registration is required. Participants are encouraged to bring questions.

The 1776-2026 Semiquincentennial Mural Project

A patriotic mural is taking shape in Veterans’ Cove, created by local artist Heather Reaves with support from MSC members, to honor America’s Semiquincentennial. The artwork pays tribute to the nation’s military and highlights historic contributions from Delaware and the City of Milford. Veterans’ Cove, an open-concept room dedicated to those who have served, will host an unveiling and dedication for the finished piece. Gifts to the project help sustain Center programs and a much-needed renovation of Veterans’ Cove, and the mural will offer an educational experience for visitors and local students. Sponsorship opportunities range from $25 to $25,000+. The Independence Visionary Partner level at $25,000+ is limited to four supporters and includes a prominently placed logo on event materials, the MSC website, and social media, a commemorative plaque in the Veterans’ Cove area, a special feature within the mural, top billing in promotions and press, VIP networking, a speaking opportunity at the dedication, and a full-page ad in the program. Liberty Leader at $10,000 to $24,999 features a large logo on materials and the website, significant mentions on social media and in press releases, verbal recognition at the dedication, and a half-page program ad. Patriot Supporter at $1,000 to $9,999 includes a medium logo on the website, social media acknowledgments, and a quarter-page program ad. Colonial Contributor at $500 to $999 offers a small logo on the website, a listing in the program, and recognition in electronic communications. First State Friend at $300 to $499 provides business-name recognition on the event’s Facebook page. Milford Benefactor at $100 to $299 and Ladybug Wall Walker at $25 round out the giving options. Funds raised through the Independence Visionary Partner level will also make it possible to provide free memberships for veteran members of the Center for years to come.

Meet and connect with professionals at CCOC’s monthly evening networking series, hosted this time at Matthews Motors in Clayton. Each edition highlights a different local business, offering a chance to get to know the community while expanding your contacts. Attendees are encouraged to bring business cards for easy introductions, and a small spread of refreshments will be available. There is no charge for CCOC members, known as investors, or for their invited guests.

Biggs Happy Hour

Biggs Happy Hour blends art, history, and local flavor in a laid-back social setting. Wander the exhibits indoors or enjoy the buzz outside, then connect with friends and fellow museum fans over live music and spoken word. A cash bar offers beer, wine, and non-alcoholic choices, and light snacks can be purchased. Performances by Joe Baione and spoken word artist Dennis Spence set the tone for an easygoing evening. This after-hours gathering is a relaxed way to unwind after work, engage with art, and show support for the Biggs. Biggs Members receive discounted pricing at the bar this month.

Volunteer Garden Days at the John Bell House

First State Heritage Park welcomes volunteers to the gardens at the John Bell House for a hands-on day of care and interpretation. Participants help tend three vegetable and herb plots while taking part in historical interpretation, with the option to wear period clothing provided by the park. Each Garden Day offers a chance to explore plants common to a colonial-era garden and how they were used, learn foundational colonial gardening techniques, and assist with weeding, watering, general upkeep, and harvesting as needed. It is also an opportunity to support the community while experiencing the first urban park without boundaries in Delaware. All necessary tools, including trowels, watering cans, and gloves, are supplied. Previous gardening experience is welcome but not required.

Live Acoustic Yoga Experience

Experience a relaxed blend of all-levels gentle yoga and live acoustic music at Floating Lotus. Wreaths Across America Annual Golf Tournament

Now in its second year, the Wreaths Across America golf tournament brings golfers together at Southern Delaware Golf Club for a day on the course. Player check in is followed by a shotgun start, and the entry fee is $110 per golfer.

Summer Arts in the Parks presents Bad Juju

Settle in at Big Oak County Park with a picnic, blanket, or lawn chair for a free outdoor concert from Bad Juju, a local favorite performing blues-based cover songs. Presented through Summer Arts in the Parks, this relaxed park performance offers an easygoing night of live music. If weather is poor, the show will be cancelled. 2026 Dover 4th of July Parade - Celebrating 250 years

Set in historic Downtown Dover, this Independence Day parade celebrates community pride and patriotism while honoring 250 years of independence. The procession offers a lively stage for creativity, welcoming civic groups, businesses, youth organizations, schools, marching bands, cheer squads, and sports teams. Participation is free, with an emphasis on bringing spirit, energy, and imagination. Participants showcase their talents before thousands of spectators and help create lasting memories for families, friends, and neighbors. Families and individuals with patriotic spirit are part of the tradition.

"Red, White & Boots" an Evening of Music, Dancing & Fun

Celebrate the Nation’s 250th with an upbeat country-themed evening filled with music, dancing, and patriotic spirit. Local entertainer Garrett Roe will keep the floor lively by singing and spinning favorite tunes, and the night begins with line dance lessons that welcome both first-timers and seasoned dancers. Capture the moment at a selfie station featuring a horse and playful props, then take a look at the newly unveiled patriotic mural in Veterans’ Cove. A cash bar will offer beer, wine, cocktails, Jell-O shots, and a signature Rebel Chick Cocktail. Freshly made bake sale treats from members and friends will be available, and Bibi’s Restaurant from Milford will serve fan favorites to keep the energy high for more dancing. Special Saturday Collection Event

This collection accepts household hazardous materials, offers electronics recycling, and provides shredding of paper. There is no fee for Delaware residents. It will be held regardless of the weather.
