Harbor ParkGreg Mendez
Space Ballroom hosts an evening with Greg Mendez, joined by Scarlet Rae, presented by Premier Concerts and Manic Presents. This all ages show centers on Mendez’s spare, incisive songwriting and his new album, Beauty Land, his debut full length for Dead Oceans. Known for turning restraint into impact, he layers concise pop melodies with bright, insistent guitars and a voice that leans toward choirlike purity. Much of Beauty Land was recorded straight to tape in a modest home studio in Philadelphia, largely self-recorded, and follows his unexpected self-titled breakthrough in 2023 after years crafting music between Philadelphia and New York. The record continues to navigate grief, love, and addiction with quiet precision, shaping dreamlike vignettes into songs that rarely reach the three minute mark. Moments stand out for their texture and turns, from the off-kilter pulse of I Wanna Feel Pretty and the chiming toy piano of Gentle Love to Mary / Dreaming, which moves from delicate fingerpicking to a warped, Beach Boys-tinged release. Stark simplicity lands hard on Looking Out Your Window with a funereal hush, as well as on Frog with its slowed-keyboard plea. There is also a brief lift when he harmonizes with his wife and bandmate, Veronica, near the close of So Mean, offering a fleeting flash of redemption within the album’s fragile world.

Ayni, pronounced eye-nee, is a Quechua concept of sacred reciprocity with all beings, the earth, and the cosmos. This heart-centered ceremony invites participants into a shared journey under a waning gibbous moon in Aquarius, gathering by the pool and around a sacred fire. The focus is on Aquarian air energy and its humanitarian spirit, beginning by opening the space, honoring the four directions, and inviting ancestral support while moving between the realm of Spirit and the Middle World, Kay Pacha. Energy is cleared in body and surroundings with sacred smoke, then a collective oracle reading and intention setting open the channels to Spirit. A breath-led yoga flow follows, supported by reiki, and transitions into vibrational sound healing to soften the nervous system. The experience continues with ceremonial cacao to awaken the senses and heart, along with trataka, or fire gazing, to attune the third eye. The circle gathers at the fire for drumming that mirrors the rhythm of the earth and the life force within, and for vocal expression through mantras and medicine songs, welcoming playfulness and the inner child. The gathering closes with group sharing and a formal release of the four directions, returning awareness to Kay Pacha. Suitable for beginners through advanced practitioners. The cost is $60.

Athletes are grouped by position with dedicated sessions for pitchers, catchers, infielders, and outfielders, and they can add multiple sessions for an additional fee to highlight all of their skills. Toyota Oakdale TheaterCacao, Mantra & Sacred Truth — A Heart Opening Afternoon
A restorative afternoon ceremony led by Lauren Eastwood of LB Healing and Brian Lottman of Stir The Heart weaves ceremonial cacao, sacred mantra, live harmonium, guided meditation, and timeless spiritual teachings. It opens with a cacao circle facilitated by Lauren that invites intention setting and honors the divine feminine, gently warming the heart to receive. Brian then offers Satsang, a Sanskrit term for gathering in truth. He draws from the Vedic wisdom of India and other spiritual traditions, speaks dynamically, plays harmonium while leading simple mantras, guides meditations with a peaceful presence, and shares teachings aimed at whole-being healing. Brian’s path was ignited by a breathwork session in 2007. In 2012, encouraged by his teacher, he left his former life to travel across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, becoming what he affectionately calls an American Sadhu, and bringing these teachings to hundreds of communities. Lauren is the founder of LB Healing in Durham, Connecticut, offering Reiki, sound healing, ceremonial cacao, and sacred ceremony, with a focus on creating spaces where those who are burned out, overwhelmed, or quietly searching can reconnect with themselves. Brian is the founder of Stir The Heart, an inspirational speaker, energy healer, meditation teacher, and yoga instructor dedicated to helping people realize their Essential Nature through ancient wisdom, mantra, and the power of presence. Expect a cacao opening with an invocation of the feminine, live harmonium and mantra, guided meditation held with a healing presence, and teachings rooted in the Vedic tradition, all within an intimate, supportive space for opening and receiving. No prior experience is required. Participants may wish to bring a journal, a yoga mat, and a blanket if desired, along with an open heart. The cost is $40.

The Sawtelles shape spare, carefully woven pop built from an alternate tuned guitar, shifting drum kit setups, and two intertwining voices, letting space carry as much weight as sound. They have performed original music for more than two decades, and their do it yourself approach has yielded over twenty mostly handmade releases. Knox Chandler brings a career that spans more than four decades, covering performance, recording, arranging, and production with artists including REM, Depeche Mode, Grace Jones, Marianne Faithful, Natalie Merchant, Tricky, The Creatures, Dave Gahan Paper Monsters, and The Golden Palominos. Long stints with The Psychedelic Furs, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Cyndi Lauper’s band reflect extensive studio and touring work around the world. He further developed immersive sonic explorations he calls soundribbons while living in Berlin, composing, recording, touring, producing, writing string arrangements for a wide range of collaborators, and building his solo Sound Ribbon project. He also led the guitar department at BIMM College, holds a BA from Bard College, and earned a postgraduate teaching certification in Germany. Gaylord Specialty HealthcareLegendary Blues with Rocky Lawrence!
An evening of authentic blues awaits in North Haven as Rocky Lawrence channels the roots of the music and brings its classic spirit to life. A devoted interpreter of Robert Johnson’s legacy, he is known for stepping onstage in a sharp suit with a Dobbs hat and two tone shoes, playing a Gibson Robert Johnson model marked by years of use, and delivering songs with unwavering intensity. His performances, whether solo or in collaboration, reflect the experience of a seasoned artist. Raised in Connecticut, Lawrence began on trumpet at nine in a home filled with the sounds of Louis Armstrong and Mahalia Jackson, with Armstrong as an early inspiration. By eleven he had taken up the guitar under the spell of Jimi Hendrix, then traced those influences back through Muddy Waters to the enduring voices of Robert Johnson and Son House. He recognizes how Johnson drew from contemporaries like Son House and Lonnie Johnson, and he carries that lineage forward on stage. Settle in for soulful blues complemented by boutique wines and hard ciders from Apple Theory Cidery, creating a relaxed and flavorful atmosphere.
APB w/ Discount Fireworks at Space Ballroom
Space Ballroom hosts a night of post-punk energy with APB and support from Discount Fireworks. Presented by Premier Concerts and Manic Presents. APB, the Scottish three-piece formed in 1979, made its mark by pairing sharp guitar work with funk and new wave rhythms. Early favorites like Shoot You Down, Rainy Day, and Palace Filled with Love found traction on alternative radio and in rock dance clubs, and the collection Something to Believe In gathered many of those independent singles. Later editions added Chain Reaction and versions of Danceability, offering both the original mix and an extended Parts 1 and 2 on different formats. Broadcasters and artists have long championed the band, and its lean, percussive sound has influenced groups from Red Hot Chili Peppers to Franz Ferdinand. APB remains an active touring band and includes original members Slater, Roberts, and Cheyne. Discount Fireworks brings a cerebral, groove-forward approach. Blues-tinged bass locks with inventive, pounding drums while heartfelt vocals lead the way, accented by guitars that nod to post-punk and no wave. The trio moves fluidly through changing time signatures and makes space part of the dynamic. This is an all-ages show.
