This drop-in class focuses on connection and feel, guiding participants to experience rhythm as a living system rather than concentrating on drills. Each session centers on a single West African rhythm from Mali or Guinea, allowing time to settle into the groove and understand how the parts interlock. Instruction explores how dundun and bell patterns align, how djembe lines fit into the overall texture, ways to hear the downbeat and ride the pulse, and simple keystone rhythms that open creative possibilities. 2026 Black Cat Makerie : Journey Through Clay and Paper with Elsa Mora

This workshop explores living a meaningful life through using ordinary materials in innovative ways. Designed for curious minds, it offers a stimulating chance to explore aspects of ourselves creatively, guided by artist Elsa Mora. Participants will engage with clay and paper from an unconventional perspective, connecting with their senses and artistic potential. A hand-building approach with clay will be used, playing with composition to create small sculptures for a specific purpose to be revealed during the workshop. Through drawing, cutting, gluing, and shaping, three-dimensional paper structures will be made, exploring the metaphorical potential paper holds. The workshop culminates in a piece of artwork that unexpectedly combines clay and paper, offering a powerful form of self-care by unearthing the possibilities of the imagination.
