Live acoustic performances by Filipino artists will be featured, and seating is limited.
Noypitz Main2026 GLAC No-Tap Tournament
Open to GLAC USBC members, both youth and adults, this singles 9-pin no-tap tournament takes place at Cal Bowl, where knocking down nine pins counts as a strike. Competition is offered in separate Open and Women’s divisions, and youth may participate with a signed prize waiver submitted before bowling begins. Each entrant bowls three games on the same pair of lanes. No more than eight bowlers are assigned to a pair, and groups that want to share a lane pair should send entries together with one payment for the group. The entry fee is $50 per person. Handicap is figured at 90 percent of 210, with a minimum one-in-eight payout in each division. Brackets and side pots will be available. Walk-ins may be accommodated if lanes are open. SoCal Black & Brown Belt Practice gathers practitioners at California State University, Long Beach for focused training led this session by Godan Charles Lai. Instruction rotates among Southern California yodans and godans, with work centered on the kata, kihon, and kumite drills highlighted in the monthly training calendar. Participants are encouraged to review Tekki Shodan beforehand. Black and brown belts from Southern California, as well as visiting practitioners from other regions, are welcome. A campus parking permit is required, priced at $10 per day, and permits can be purchased at pay stations using your license plate and a credit card. Training fees are $10 for brown belts and $15 for black belts, and all proceeds support the Shotokan Ohshima Dojo maintenance fund. Health guidance recommends vaccination, asks anyone with symptoms or recent exposure to refrain from attending, and notes that masks are optional. A lunch gathering follows practice.
