In her role as Grants Administrator, she leads the research, writing, and oversight of grant proposals supported by federal, state, local, and foundation funding. She previously served for 15 years as president and chief executive officer of United Way of Yuma County. Her background includes nonprofit collaboration, public and private partnership development, grants management, fundraising, strategic planning, board development, and problem solving, along with strong public speaking, writing, and interpersonal skills. Experience old-school live action roleplay with Yuma Amtgard, a local barony in Arizona that is part of the Kingdom of Dragonspine. The gathering takes place at Friendship Park in the shade of the trees, offering a comfortable spot for training and friendly clashes. Expect fast-paced foam-weapon combat, spellcasting mechanics, hands-on instruction for newcomers, and organized skirmishes suited to a range of experience levels. There is no cost to participate, and gear such as weapons and shields can be borrowed on site, so no equipment is required. Tend Your Fence (Wall or Yard Art)

Create wall or yard art from antique fence panels at Weld Like A Girl. These reclaimed pieces from a local Yuma property are all different, inviting you to respond to the gaps in your own way or keep their timeworn character. Materials are limited, so this offering is available for a short time. Each session begins with a focus on safety, with instruction in welding practices, plasma cutting and GMAW, also known as MIG welding. You will see demonstrations and then get hands-on practice. The class operates in a small-group format, typically capped at about 12 participants, to allow for individualized guidance. All protective equipment is provided, including helmets, jackets, gloves and safety glasses. The class is co-ed and open to children. Families should consider a child’s maturity; participants under 12 are asked to enroll and take part alongside an adult. For mature children under 7, eligibility can be discussed in advance. Dress for the shop environment by wearing jeans, a cotton T-shirt and closed-toe shoes. Leather footwear is preferred, tennis shoes are acceptable and sandals are not allowed. Make sure ankles and feet are fully covered. Water, tea and light refreshments are available. The fee covers all materials as well as use of safety gear and equipment. Mother/Child Bonding

At Weld Like A Girl, moms and kids team up to build a metal sculpture that becomes a lasting keepsake, offering a creative way to reconnect after the holidays. This is a co-ed class. Every session begins with a strong focus on safety, including instruction in welding safety, plasma cutting, and GMAW, also known as MIG welding. Demonstrations are provided, followed by hands-on practice. Class size is kept small, typically around 12 participants, so everyone receives individual guidance. All required protective gear is supplied, including safety glasses, welding jackets, gloves, helmets, and hearing protection. Participants may bring their own well-fitting safety glasses if preferred, otherwise ANSI-approved glasses are provided to keep. Water and light refreshments are available. Yuma Adult Flag Football 2026 Spring Season

Adult flag football league play is set to begin in Yuma at Ray Kroc Baseball Complex. The season includes ten games per team, with scheduled breaks for Mother’s Day and Memorial Day weekend. Each team pays $450 and may roster ten athletes. Players must be 18 or older, and high school athletes are allowed with a parent signature. Ranked the number three haunted destination in America, this historic site opens after hours for a night of paranormal exploration inside its century-old cell block. Guests can start with pre-investigation drinks at the Spirit Bar in the prison courtyard, then gather for a lights-out orientation featuring real accounts of documented hotspots before heading into the cell block to conduct investigations that continue deep into the night. The experience concludes as the gates close again, leaving the evening’s mysteries within the prison walls. Tickets are $50 per person, and availability is limited. Alcohol is not included in the ticket price.

Donut & DIY for Mom

Celebrate Mother’s Day with a hands-on workshop where makers of all ages create a custom shelf sign for moms, grandmas, or even for themselves. Personalize the project by choosing scrapbook paper for the background and paint colors to match a favorite style or space. The finished sign is about 12.5 inches wide by 4 inches tall, and it can stand on a shelf or hang easily with removable strips. This experience works great for a parent bringing kids to craft something special, spending creative time with Mom, or quietly making a surprise for someone you love. Donuts will be available to enjoy while you work. Because each piece is personalized, registration closes so materials can be prepared. If you do not attend, your project will be packed as a to-go kit and refunds are not available. To keep the workspace comfortable, please limit two people per project. The workshop is open to all ages, and children under 6 should have adult help. Create something meaningful, handmade, and from the heart.

Dennis Donnelly Memorial 16" Softball Tournament

The Dennis Donnelly Memorial 16" Softball Tournament returns for its 54th year, a long-standing tradition recognized by the Chicago 16" Softball Hall of Fame in 2022. Festivities start with a home run contest and a tournament social, then shift into a full slate of competitive games. Male players ages 14 and up compete through round robin play and playoffs, building to quarterfinals, semifinals, and a championship at Sanguinetti Athletic Field. Games are held at Sanguinetti Athletic Field, with additional action at the Pacific Avenue Athletic Complex as needed. Team entry is $300, and an optional $25 alcohol permit is available.

Father & Child Bonding

At Weld Like A Girl, dads and kids team up to create a welded sculpture to take home in a co-ed class. Every session begins with a strong focus on safety and includes instruction in plasma cutting and GMAW, also known as MIG, followed by demonstrations and hands-on practice. Class size is limited to 12 participants to allow for individual guidance. Children of all ages can attend, including adults, and mature kids as old as 5 years are welcome to attempt the class. All safety gear is provided, including safety glasses, welding jackets, gloves, helmets, and hearing protection. Participants should wear jeans, a cotton T-shirt, and closed-toe shoes; boots are preferred, tennis shoes are acceptable, and sandals are not allowed. Please ensure ankles and feet are fully covered. T-shirts or tank tops are fine since a welding jacket will be worn. If you already have safety glasses that fit you well, you may bring them. Otherwise, standard ANSI-approved safety glasses are provided and are yours to keep. Light refreshments will be available. Price is $90 for a father and one child. If bringing an additional child, the cost is $25, payable by invoice for credit card or in cash on the day of class. Military and first responder discount codes are available by request via phone, email, or social media.

YCNHA July Summer Camp

Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area offers a returning summer camp with sessions for children ages 5 to 12 at Colorado River State Historic Park. Each week features fresh lessons, challenges, and projects, so campers who attend multiple sessions can expect new experiences every time. Families may choose one week, two weeks, or all three. One session centers on Engineering the River for advanced builders, with activities such as creating more complex water systems, trying different materials to model dams and water flow, collaborating on problem solving and team competitions, and exploring the park through new games and projects. Another session highlights Wetlands and Desert Explorers, where campers conduct hands-on science in the Yuma East Wetlands, study ecosystems and wildlife adaptations, tackle water quality and conservation challenges, and enjoy nature-based games and guided exploration. The final session is the Prison Break Challenge, a new chapter at the Yuma Territorial Prison that includes escape room style puzzles, team missions, fresh storylines and clues, deeper looks at the site’s history, and a mix of crafts, games, and interactive activities. Healthy snacks are provided and lunch is not included. After registration, families receive required forms that cover emergency contacts, medical information and releases, image permissions, and the discipline policy.
