Barracudas Early Registration and Try-outs

Barracudas early registration and new swimmer tryouts are available at Ken Fovargue Park Swimming Pool. Registration takes place before tryouts, and returning swimmers can complete required paperwork in that window. The three necessary forms are available on the website in advance, with copies also provided on site. For the tryout, wear a swimsuit and bring goggles and a towel. Swimmers will be asked to swim one length of the pool, 25 meters, without assistance and without touching the wall, bottom, or lane line. Please plan to have all paperwork finished before entering the water.

Schedule an appointment for this breast and cervical cancer screening event by calling 928-522-9404. Digital mammogram appointments are available for women who are at least 40, have not had a mammogram within the past year, and have no current breast problems or complaints. All major insurance plans are accepted, and a referral is not required for an annual mammogram. Results will be shared with both the patient and their healthcare provider. Expect to cover about three miles at a comfortable pace, roughly 60 to 90 minutes, with the flexibility to head out early if needed. Dogs remain leashed and by their handler’s side, with generous space around other teams and no nose to nose greetings. Retractable leashes are not permitted, and females in heat should sit this one out. The group welcomes dogs that need extra space, including those signaled with a yellow ribbon. A no-cost resource fair at the Kathryn Heidenreich Adult Center supports veterans and their families in and around Kingman who are facing housing instability or homelessness. Attendees can connect with and stay connected to complimentary services including housing assistance, employment support, haircuts, clothing and hygiene items, mental health support, help with benefits applications, VA services, treatment referrals, and additional resources. The event is open to all veterans and their families seeking these supports. For registration, veterans should bring a DD-214, identification cards, Social Security cards, any relevant court paperwork, copies of their resume, and any disability claim information.

An Arizona trials competition is planned for Hualapai Mountain Park. The focus is on trials riding, and additional event information will be shared when it becomes available.

Frankie’s legacy poker run, spaghetti banquet and raffle

This community ride and gathering honors the life of Frankie Lyons, a proud U.S. Women’s Army Corps veteran and founder of Veterans United Arizona. The poker run, spaghetti banquet and raffle celebrate her legacy while raising support for her surviving family, with all proceeds dedicated to them. The route begins at Happy Hearts Thrift Store in Golden Valley, includes stops in Laughlin, Bullhead City and Pirate’s Cove in Needles, then returns to Golden Valley for a spaghetti and meatball banquet. The finale features a fundraising raffle and a showing of Smoky and the Bandit, Frankie’s favorite movie. Bread will be available for purchase at $10 before departure, with proceeds going to her family. A $50 package covers one poker run buy-in and one meal, and additional meals can be purchased for $20 each. RSVPs are requested through Amanda, spokesperson for Veterans United Arizona, with payment method details pending. Donations are welcome and will be acknowledged with a receipt. Sponsors, volunteers and contributions for raffle prizes and banquet food are needed, with more than $1,000 in raffle prizes already pledged. 11th Annual Horsemanship Camp 2026

Designed for ages six and older, this summer horsemanship camp offers an engaging, hands-on way to build confidence and skills around horses. Instruction is led by CHA certified staff with the support of trained lesson and therapy horses, and safety is emphasized alongside empathy and kindness toward animals and one another. Participants experience aspects of ranch life through daily animal care and learn how to support the whole horse, from behavior to physical well-being. Riding sessions develop skills in English, Western, and bareback styles. The curriculum also includes practical science such as basic first aid and minor veterinary care, technology used in the horse industry, engineering concepts for creating safe environments, and math for planning diets and balanced nutrition. SpongeBob the Musical Summer Performance Camp

Young performers ages 8 to 18 can take part in a summer performance intensive that rehearses, produces, and stages a full-length JR version of SpongeBob The Musical at the Beale Street Theater. Across three weeks, participants complete 11 rehearsals and present three public performances. Every student is cast in the production, with the option to contribute on the backstage tech team. Snacks are provided during rehearsals, and lunch is offered between the two shows on the day with back-to-back performances. Each participant receives two complimentary tickets. Great Race Lunch Stop - Kingman, Arizona

The 2026 Hemmings Great Race presented by Coker Tire will stop at the Kingman Visitor Center in Kingman, Arizona. More than 140 classic cars and trucks will come through town as part of a nine day Route 66 journey that travels from Springfield, Illinois to Pasadena, California.

CONTINENTAL DIVIDE ADVENTURE

Departing from Kingman and heading to Las Vegas to meet additional travelers, this two-week journey follows US93 north to the Canadian border near Eureka, Montana, then turns south along the trail. Highlights include passing through Yellowstone and stopping at Old Faithful. A Garmin GPS with a micro-SD card containing the route is recommended. The plan is to find a campground every third or fourth night for showers and laundry.
