Conway League of Artists Spring Show

An open call invites artists to participate in a single exhibition built around three color-driven challenges inspired by celebrated masters. Choose the Van Gogh Challenge to amplify energy with complementary pairs from across the color wheel for striking contrast. Explore the Monet Challenge to work with adjacent hues that create gentle transitions and a serene, atmospheric mood. Or take on the Ultimate Focus to craft a monochromatic piece that tells a complete story through one hue expanded with tints, tones, and shades. Painters, sculptors, and digital creators can select the approach that best suits their style, and awards will be presented in each category. Entry is available through an online form.

Pieced to Perfection: Pieced to Perfection: A Layered Carpenter's Wheel with Diamond Accents

Level up your piecing skills in an intermediate quilting workshop focused on creating a layered Carpenter’s Wheel quilt accented with diamonds. Build a striking three-layer centerpiece with sharp points and strong geometry, add diamond borders at the top and bottom, then frame everything with smooth, nonpieced side borders for a clean finish. With supportive, step by step instruction, you will learn to handle tricky angles, work confidently with diamonds, manage bias edges accurately, and refine pressing, alignment, and assembly for consistent results. By the end, you will leave with a solid foundation in precision piecing and the confidence to take on more detailed designs. The class is presented in two sessions. The first covers making half square triangles and cutting fabrics. The second focuses on assembling the quilt top and adding borders. Designed for intermediate quilters who are comfortable with accurate piecing and multi step construction, and for anyone who enjoys bold quilts with standout detail. Basic sewing machine knowledge is required. Bring a sewing machine and core notions such as thread, bobbins, pins, a marking pen or pencil, a ruler, and a Quilter’s Magic Wand. Fabric needs include one half yard each of six colors, two and a half yards of background fabric, and one yard for borders. Backing options include five yards of 44 or 45 inch wide fabric, or two and one quarter yards of 108 inch wide fabric. Helpful optional tools include a 6 and a half inch square ruler, an iron, a wool pressing mat, a rotary cutter, a small self healing cutting mat, and masking or washi tape for marking rulers and keeping cuts consistent. The class fee is 40 dollars per session and enrollment is limited to 12 students. Instruction is led by Debbie Landers, who brings more than 50 years of sewing experience spanning garment construction, tailoring, heirloom techniques, machine embroidery, digitizing, and quilting. A longtime Vilonia resident, she teaches in a supportive environment and emphasizes both the how and the why behind great quilting.

Santa Baby Table Runner by Krista Moser

Create a cheerful holiday table runner using Krista Moser’s Santa Baby design, a quick and polished project that highlights novelty prints beautifully. The runner uses only three fabrics and suits confident beginners as well as experienced quilters. After cutting the pieces, assembly moves along quickly, and you can finish a festive centerpiece ready for the season. The class focuses on practical skills, including fussy cutting to showcase special motifs like Santa, maintaining accurate seam allowances, cutting and piecing 60 degree diamonds, managing bias edges, and binding neatly around 60 degree corners. By the end, expect greater confidence with diamond piecing and a completed runner you can display. This workshop meets in two parts. The first session concentrates on cutting and assembling the top. The second session covers binding with attention to those 60 degree corners. Basic sewing machine knowledge is required, and the class welcomes quilters who enjoy quick finishes, seasonal projects, and working with novelty fabrics. The fee is $40 per session, with space for up to 12 students. Please bring a sewing machine, thread, bobbins, pins, a rotary cutter, a small self healing cutting mat, and a fabric marking pen. The Creative Grids 60 degree Tiny Diamond ruler is required. Fabric needs include one half yard of a striped background for the triangles, one quarter yard for binding, and one half yard for backing. Pressing tools such as an iron and a wool pressing mat are recommended. Krista Moser designed this project and also created the required ruler, and the pattern is available for free.
