The gathering takes place beachfront at The Lodge at Gulf State Park. Bring a towel or yoga mat to lie on, a pillow, blankets, a water bottle, and an open, receptive mindset. The energy exchange is $22. 4th annual Gulf Coast Classic fly fishing festival

The Gulf Coast Council of Fly Fishers International presents the fourth annual fly fishing festival at the Learning Campus at Gulf State Park. The event brings together accomplished fly tiers, casting instructors, fly fishing experts, conservation advocates, and a mix of commercial and nonprofit exhibitors, along with a full slate of activities. The venue features a modern theater, meeting rooms, outdoor spaces, nearby dining, and convenient access to a 600-acre brackish lake and to beaches. Programming includes seminars on places to fish, tactics, and target species, conservation sessions, fly tying demonstrations, exhibitors and vendors, and beginner workshops included with admission. Advanced fly tying and casting workshops require registration and a fee. Additional highlights include the Mixed Bag Challenge fishing contest, a screening of the Fly Fishing Film Tour that requires separate registration, a keynote focused on conservation, and raffles with unique items. Attendees may register for one or both days, and a family discount is available. Registration is required for workshops, the Mixed Bag Challenge, and on-campus lodging. A limited number of on-campus lodging options are available at a reasonable rate.

Presented by the FFI Gulf Coast Council, the Fly Fishing Film Tour marks its 20th year with a fresh lineup of short films that celebrate the sport and build excitement for the season ahead. The screening takes place at Conservation Hall in Gulf Shores Park. Tickets are $25 per person when purchased in advance, and seating is limited to 200. In addition to the films and a welcoming atmosphere, attendees can expect door prize drawings featuring items from Costa, Yeti, Simms, and other sponsors. This film event is affiliated with the Gulf Coast Classic organized by the Fly Fishers International Gulf Coast Council, yet admission to the Classic is not required. The Gulf Shores stop of F3T follows the conclusion of the Classic at the Gulf Shores Park Learning Campus and is open to everyone.

Mom & Wild Things Mother's Day Dance

A festive Mother’s Day dance at the zoo invites mothers and their kids of all ages to celebrate together. A DJ will spin family friendly favorites while families fill the dance floor and show off their best moves. Between songs, enjoy treats from a popcorn bar, get creative at an arts and crafts station, take in an animal presentation highlighting resident creatures, and meet a few animal ambassadors. Attire can be safari inspired or your favorite jeans, and big smiles are welcome. The celebration centers on the special bond between moms and their children, and recognizes that a mom can be any important woman who helps make a family great. The gathering takes place indoors in the zoo’s covered event center and will proceed rain or shine. During the event, access is limited to the event center area. Tickets are $25 for a mom plus one child ages 3 to 17, $10 for each additional child ages 3 to 17, and $20 for an adult mom figure such as a grandmother or aunt. Children 2 and under are free. Zoo members can use the code MemberMom for 20 percent off the total by providing a member number at checkout. Teams of two compete in an open championship in Gulf Shores, with play across Craft Farms Golf Club and Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club. The competition features a mix of scramble and shamble formats. Skins are included with payouts, and no handicap index is required. Flights are set after the first round, with awards going to at least 25 percent of the field. Multiple tees are used and assigned by age. The event is co-hosted by Two Man Golf Tour and Good Game Sports.

Salty Shuffle Charity Poker Cruise

Presented by the Sea Glass Initiative with Legendary Marina and Yacht Club Gulf Shores and Dockside Guide, this family-friendly charity poker cruise spends a day on the Intracoastal Waterway. Boats will make stops along the route from Orange Beach to Gulf Shores, then gather at Legendary Marina for an after-party featuring music, food, games, a silent auction, and a 50/50 raffle. Cash awards go to the top two poker hands, and there is also a contest for the best decorated boat. Each vessel entry includes a custom T-shirt and a captain’s swag bag. All boat types are welcome, with a vessel entry fee of $100 and $30 per additional player. A new kickoff reception for captains and sponsors is planned at Legendary Marina and Yacht Club Gulf Shores. Capacity is limited, and participation supports the Sea Glass Initiative’s efforts to end homelessness in Baldwin County.

Ecosystem Explorers sets the tone for a week of discovery in Alabama’s Gulf State Park, where campers spend their days outdoors with hands-on adventures that build confidence through teamwork, creativity, and play. Activities rotate between the Learning Campus and park settings, with options that can include guided hikes, tours, pier fishing, time at Lake Shelby, field investigations, visits to the Nature Center, swimming, and engaging science experiments. The day begins with check in and a welcome, then moves into morning and afternoon sessions before pickup at the Learning Campus. Lunch is not provided, so participants should bring their own meal. Afternoon fun continues until pickup, and all campers must be collected by the end of the day. Designed for ages 7 to 13, the program is $299 per week, tax included.

Curious kids can explore Gulf Coast natural history during a full week at Alabama’s Gulf State Park. Designed for ages 7 to 13, this camp blends outdoor adventure with hands-on learning, helping campers build confidence through teamwork, creativity, and play. Each day begins with check-in and a warm welcome, then moves into guided experiences at the Learning Campus and throughout the park. Activities may include hiking and tours, pier fishing, time at Lake Shelby, field investigations, visits to the Nature Center, swimming, and lively science projects. Campers should bring their own lunch. Pick up is at the Learning Campus, and additional afternoon fun continues through the end of the day. The program is priced at $299 per week, tax included.
