Mr Burton

A moving portrait of mentorship and transformation, this story follows Port Talbot schoolmaster Philip Burton and his unruly pupil, Richard Jenkins, the son of a troubled drinker. Richard longs to become an actor, yet his path wavers under family turmoil, the pressure of war, and his own uneven discipline. Recognizing talent where others saw only trouble, Mr. Burton steps in as teacher and stern guide, shaping the boy’s craft and character. Their connection deepens over time, and Mr. Burton ultimately adopts Richard, helping steady his course toward the future he hopes for.

Exhibition on Screen: The Curious World of Hieronymus Bosch

Explore the startling imagination of Hieronymus Bosch with a film from EXHIBITION ON SCREEN directed by David Bickerstaff. This cinematic portrait investigates who Bosch was, why his fantastical images still captivate audiences, and how his art links the medieval world with the Renaissance. Central to the film is the landmark exhibition Hieronymus Bosch: Visions of Genius at Het Noordbrabants Museum in the south of the Netherlands, which reunited the majority of his paintings and drawings in his hometown of Den Bosch and welcomed nearly half a million visitors. With Bosch’s life illuminated and the symbols and stories inside his works examined in striking close-up, the film offers an engrossing encounter with a singular creative mind. Widely praised by international outlets for its scale and insight, it presents a vivid new way to experience Bosch’s genius.

May Flowers Adoption Event

Kitten season is in full swing, and the rescue is opening its doors for a rare behind-the-scenes visit. Attendees can meet the newest kittens alongside other available cats who are more at ease in a home setting than at larger off-site events such as PetSmart. Spending unrushed time with them in a calmer environment makes it easier to see their individual personalities. Guests can observe daily operations, learn what it takes to care for many cats, and see which supplies are most needed right now. Light refreshments will be available in the garage, and a donation bin will be on hand for anyone who would like to contribute supplies. Because the rescue is inside Chrissy’s home, it is usually closed to the public except during scheduled adoptions or special events. Whether you hope to adopt, plan to donate, or simply want some time with adorable kitties, this visit offers a welcoming look behind the scenes... and maybe a chance to meet a new best friend.
